Effortless User and Device Management Across Platforms

  • May 23, 2025
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
From a macOS administration perspective, the cross-platform device management is a standout feature. Being able to enforce security policies, deploy software, and manage local accounts across macOS, Windows, and Linux from one place is a huge time-saver.
Security-wise, features like MFA, conditional access policies, and SSH key management give us enterprise-grade control without the complexity.
What do you dislike about the product?
Limited Advanced macOS MDM Controls: For macOS environments, some advanced MDM capabilities—especially those around bootstrap tokens, kernel extension approvals, and declarative device management—are more limited compared to Apple Business Manager integrated solutions.
Reporting and Logging: While basic logging is available, detailed audit trails and event reporting (e.g., real-time login events, policy enforcement logs, or failed access attempts) could be more granular and customizable without requiring API workarounds..
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
umpCloud is solving the challenge of centralized identity and device management across a heterogeneous environment—macOS, Windows, and Linux—all without the need for on-prem infrastructure. This is particularly valuable in a hybrid or remote workforce where traditional domain-based management like Active Directory falls short.

The only tool I need for device and identity management

  • May 23, 2025
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Jumpcloud checked all the boxes I was looking for in a single product. It’s one of the few platforms that actually does both identity and device management well—without needing a Frankenstein stack of tools. I can manage users, enforce security policies, and push out device settings from one place. It’s especially great for remote management across Mac and Windows.

Setup was straightforward, and once it’s running, it mostly just works. Compared to other options I looked at, it felt more cohesive. I appreciate that it was built with smaller teams in mind, not just enterprise IT departments.
What do you dislike about the product?
The interface is mostly clean, but sometimes it feels like things are tucked a little too deep. A few features (especially some policy settings) could be easier to find or more clearly explained. I'd also like to see either custom policy settings, or more options rolled out more quickly.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
It lets me manage both users and devices in one place, which means I don’t need to juggle multiple tools to handle identity, security policies, and system access. It replaces the need for traditional domain controllers or cobbled-together open-source solutions, especially in a remote-first setup. I needed something that just WORKED consistently without tons of tinkering, and it delivers strongly. I have never had an issue using it.

The big win is not having to choose between good device management or strong identity management—I get both. It’s streamlined onboarding and offboarding, made policy enforcement consistent, and gives me full visibility into what’s happening on each device. Saves me time and keeps things secure without adding a ton of complexity.

What do you like best about the product?
The UI is pleasant and we were able to install profiles after setting them up
What do you dislike about the product?
It's not easy to figure out things at first. For example, "Reset Password" seems hidden in accordions and it's confusing because there is another password dropdown that is a "force change" password.

The ability to implement rules across multiple devices and help users remotely.
