    Management Consulting

Great centralized management for SMBs

  • November 19, 2020
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Great way of integrating and securely managing BYOD for SMBs. Easy implementation.
What do you dislike about the product?
The audit log insights tool only captures user authentication logs but does not have DLP capability down to the file level for digital forensics analysis if in fact there was an attack. User authentication logs capture is decent, but lacks in its ability to capture event logs, application and other security logs. In addition, jumpCloud does not yet have the ability to integrate with mobile devices or other printers and internal routers as well as systems that may be also running on the network. It seems to only integrate with Linux, Mac and windows operating systems. I would say it is a 75 to 80% solution for centralized management but still has room for improvement. Overall though a good product at a decent rate.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Centralized management of BYOD and meeting ISO/IEC and other compliance objectives

What do you like best about the product?
The easy to use interface is what we like the best.
What do you dislike about the product?
The billing is not easy to get to in the UI.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We are solving remote worker machine authentication and password management. The Benefits of this system keep us PCI compliant as well as having a place where we can add and remove users from systems easily.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Ensure you read the information about their price tiers. It can be a little confusing, about what is included in the lower end tiers.

JumpCloud is the way to go when it comes to a cloud directory solution!

  • November 19, 2020
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
I enjoy multiple factors of JC like the Directory Insights, the easy user imports from GSuite to JC, the creation of device groups AND user groups, and the usage of radius servers for authentication.
What do you dislike about the product?
Since I transitioned from AD, I wish there was more GPO manipulation in JC. They have registry keys that you can manipulate but I need to be able to have more accessibility to the GPO hierarchy.

I also keep having this status-check RADIUS login failure on one of my APs and none of the techs have given me a solid answer to what is happening. Also, devices connected via Wi-Fi via the RADIUS feature and the wifi connectivity would just drop. I would check JC for reasoning and there is no way to see what is happening with wifi-dropped devices.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Device management, directory management, and RADIUS authentication. It has been very easy to manage the devices in my fleet and create and manage new, existing, and termed users.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
If you have an organization that has 10+ stationary users or even a centralized location for your end-users then this solution is perfect. Even if you have remote users, it is easy to join them in your JC domain. There's a lot of benefits and I think it is huge that you can access the Admin portal from anywhere as long as you have Internet.

JumpCloud Success for DAAS and Management

  • November 19, 2020
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
JumpCloud was very easy to set up and get started. The DAAS is as simple as adding users, no fuss at all. Adding agents to devices was also super simple.
What do you dislike about the product?
We are using the password and device management feature on our laptops. One device that I shipped out to a new users had a password syncing issue when it couldn't connect to the internet, that was difficult to work through - mostly because it was a Mac.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We needed some centralized management of accounts as well as light tough policies on laptops. We have streamlines our process around these areas, and we are able to push out policies for the first time in company history.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
If you are looking for an easy to stand up LDAP / DAAS service in combination with some controls over devices, JumpCloud is a good choice. If we want to take a heavier approach to device management and easy to find analytics, JumpCloud might not be as strong as some other choices. That said, they continue to push out new features that push deeper and deeper into this area.

Great directory option

  • November 19, 2020
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Good replacement for AD. Includes Mac support. No infrastructure investment. Supports remote workforce.
What do you dislike about the product?
Missing some policy features vs AD, but most of that can be compensated for with scripts deployed via JumpCloud.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We are an MSP and this allows us to give enterprise directory features to our small clients on a platform that scales with their growth.

Great for small business

  • October 22, 2020
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Easy to set up and integrate with our domain controller as well as our Gmail business account. It also makes it super easy to add users to a machine and allow them to log in and use it.
What do you dislike about the product?
Nothing. It's a great tool that has really helped us simplify security and user management.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
It's helping us with single sign-on so that users have fewer passwords to remember. It is also helping us with machine/laptop security and setup.

Great and simple tool

  • October 22, 2020
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
We did away with our in-house network and moved to JumpCloud. which enables us to retain control over the computers in our system even when they are in a home office setting. The total cost of our new setup is much lower. The support from JumpCloud was competent and efficient.
What do you dislike about the product?
Did not have any issues. It takes a moment to familiarize with the software at the beginning, but that is normal.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We wanted to do away with our in-house network and still have control over the systems in our network.

Great for managing a hybrid environment

  • October 16, 2020
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
I love that I can use Jumpcloud to manage devices and create an easy login experience for my users. Installing Jumpcloud on devices is quite simple and the experience for updating paswords is even easier. We have a really strict password policy and allowing people to reset passwords on their own is crucial. Lastly, I love being able to push updates to my users through Jumpcloud. I've recently starting using their SSO features more often. Jumpcloud's SSO feature looks great and it's super easy for end users to know what they have access too.
What do you dislike about the product?
I dislike that it's not easy to export information from Jumpcloud. I constantly find that i need to see when user's passwords will expire, when their device was last updated, or other random information, it would be great to have more viewing options or to export this information.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Jumpcloud allows us to remotely manage devices. A huge benefit is being able to push updates to devices from the jumpcloud admin portal. We've also loved being able to set password expiration policies to help keep our users secure. We switched ESP's this year and with jumpcloud we're able to manage a G Suite directory and Azure AD in one place. That's a really cool benefit during employee onboardings and offboardings. Jumpcloud also has a great directory feature. In the past, IT hasn't needed to store tons of extra information on users, but since we started working remotely, it's crucial i can quickly access info regarding employees to update their hardware or help with other issues.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
I recommend (if using macs) installing homebrew on your devices so you can push applications and updates to devices from the Jumpcloud portal.

Saved Us on Linux Logins and User Management

  • July 31, 2020
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
The ease of use for local authentication on non-domain machines using domain credentials. Building domain integration for all of our devices all around the country was near impossible, but here we can get the best of Active Directory (authentication) without needing custom software or unusual packages on Linux. It only took us a few minutes to get the AD integration installed on our domain controllers, and a lot of that was picking the utility user/password we'd use to authenticate the integration. Once we had the user setup, we were able to get it installed and users were live in the cloud instantly. There is also a very good agent for the end-client devices we're looking to integrate that allowed us to quickly deploy. After installation, it pulled down the configuration and began to set up the devices further to our desired state.
What do you dislike about the product?
They try to be a lot of things to a lot of people, but there isn't a good "basics" package just to get the authentication portion. We don't need an MDM and group policy interface. I also wish we could assign login permissions to AD groups instead of having to grant access to each person separately. I also dislike that the user account for integration is statically named and must be in the Users OU. Any groups that enable access to Jumpcloud also require you to create them in the Users OU, which makes it difficult to manage. We, like many companies, use OUs to hold our groups, our users, and our machines to make them easier to manage with Group Policy, and limiting us to this one means the security group cannot colocate with our other security groups in our main corporate OU. It would also be nice to have a way for existing AD user without needing a full refresh of their password in AD.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We have a lot of Linux systems around the country that all need central authentication without custom or crazy software. All our other systems use Active Directory, so getting AD to work on Red Hat, CentOS, and Ubuntu in a repeatable format is next to impossible. This was three clicks and it's installed on a box forever. So easy! Now when a new employee starts in our systems department or our network engineering team, they gain access to the requisite infrastructure automatically based on their memberships in our Active Directory. That's not new, that's standard in AD; what's unique and different is the fact that this is now possible in even our cloud-based systems that live in Azure, Google, or AWS! We've also used it for our limited number of Mac users that now have AD integration without the headache of binding OS X to AD using the built-in tools. Password expiration, software deployment, and even some basic MDM for Mac all included as a part of the license.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Make sure you follow instructions on AD integration and install the agent on every AD server. We missed one and it caused major issues until we were able to go back and properly set this up with each domain controller. It is very simple once you do it the right way, and even alerts you if the agent goes out-of-date because of new patches. Since we're a GPO shop for deployment, the silent installer makes it simple to deploy to our AD controllers and stage as a part of our regular monthly maintenance cycle.
