A fully featured, flexible open standards Identity-as-a-service provider for the 21st century

  • February 19, 2021
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
JumpCloud offers a great deal of features and flexibility - from standard LDAP compliance which integrates with just about everything I can throw at it, to real endpoint management which includes all major operating systems including macOS which is certainly a platform that gets overlooked when it comes to centralized ID management.
What do you dislike about the product?
The new pricing model, whilst necessary, is far more aggressive than when I started using the service, and I am finding it harder to recommend to many of my smaller clients at this pricing model. I have also found the Windows services for account and password synchronization to be highly unreliable, and they often fail to start with the Windows Server (or stop working). I have raised this with JumpCloud but because I'm on their free plan, they have ignored the issue even though I have raised something that could impact their paid customers.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Centralized ID management for a multitude of systems without requiring the heavy lifting and complexity of proprietary systems such as Azure AD. I have loved the fact that I can get it to integrate well with pfSense, NextCloud, Gitea and a whole variety of open source systems which otherwise would require an ever expanding array of indiviual logins. The fact that I can integrate it with my on-premise Active Directory is a huge bonus, as I can sync passwords from this and thus achieve a sense of SSO with my AD infrastrcture without the need for true AD integration, or having to route sensitive AD traffic across the public internet.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
JumpCloud is without a doubt a great and complete product and offers the feature set that I believe many businesses, especially those running open source platforms, require in the 21st century. It is simply and easy to administer and manage, and offers great integration for operating systems such as macOS which often get overlooked. The free tier makes it easy to evaluate and find out if it's the right thing for your business, and I highly recommend it for this reason.

Great for small or remote businesses

  • February 19, 2021
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
I like the ease of deployment and administration of the tool. It’s super easy for administrators to roll out, our users to self-enroll with a little direction. Once deployed it’s very simple to administer, and no retraining needed by the users.
What do you dislike about the product?
The integration (and de-integration) with existing directories leaves much to be desired on the administrative side of things.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Unified credentials across multiple devices and location, including remote users. JumpCloud works great for that, and the self serve password reset is great as well.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Give it a try, free trial for a small amount of users is a great way to go.

Started testing it a week ago - looks good so far

  • February 19, 2021
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
All features are available for the trial "For only 10 users and 10 devices"
User friendly
Doesn't require an expert to be able to use it.
Pre-defined template policies.
Support Windows, Linux, and Mac.
Reasonable pricing.
What do you dislike about the product?
Well, I hope there were more tutorials.
Also, the chat support isn't that responsive.
Didn't test everything yet but I compared it to for example Mircosoft solutions, Jumbcloud missing features. Not the main ones I guess. So this shouldn't be an issue for many people.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Basically, I need a domain controller for remote users. Everyone is working from home now. So, looking for a solution within the budget.

How Directory Services would be in a Cloud Native world

  • February 19, 2021
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
The simplicity and execution of JumpCloud drastically reduces the complexity that would otherwise involve "specialists"
What do you dislike about the product?
Nothing. The product seems to have captured the requirements and needs of most organisations on a new directory services journey
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Simplifying and standardising small directory service deployments.

Simple, yet powerful

  • February 19, 2021
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Easy to use interface. The provisioning and refresh are quick and responsive. While we have only scratched the surface, the number of integrations is incredibly vast, and Jumpcloud will likely be able to talk with any application of your choosing. The help articles are in-depth and provide walkthroughs of many scenarios you may come across. Most, if not all, of the initial setup and ongoing use of the service, can be quickly completed without external support.
What do you dislike about the product?
The pricing by feature isn't ideal as it makes it somewhat more confusing to "sell" to management since further expansion into other software apps may not be covered by the current license and attract increased costs. The requirement to re-sync the integration with Microsoft 365 every 90 days is somewhat annoying, but I appreciate that this may be a limitation on Microsoft's part, rather than Jumpcloud itself.
It would be nice to have a more detailed Windows 10 integration to push out group policies if you moved away from a Windows domain controller.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Jumpcloud allows us to sync our Azure Active Directory credentials with our on-premise Synology NAS's giving us a central point of control for all user credentials. Jumpcloud has reduced staff password reset requests and saved login times. Management of user accounts from on-premise devices can be somewhat difficult without a solution such as Jumpcloud.
We also use Jumpcloud to sync between Microsoft 365 and Google Suite, which reduces employee password reset requests.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Use the free (up to 10 user) license, and test with a small subset of users on your chosen applications/stacks.

What do you like best about the product?
Ease of use. Very intuitive interface that allowed us to test all functionality without having to contact support
What do you dislike about the product?
ALA carte pricing makes this a solution for multiple use cases without being saddled with features you will not use
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We were evaluating for WEB SSO features

Good for heterogeneous it infra

  • December 02, 2020
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
The interface is easy to use. Can support multiple operating system, we have a mix of windows, linux and mac and this seems to ingrate them quite well.
What do you dislike about the product?
Would like more way to display the information gathered by the jump cloud agent.
Directory insight do not provide lots of information.
I would like to see some kind of aggregation of the data.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We can centralise all authentication and users management in one system instead of managing 2-3 different system.

Best Directory as a service application

  • December 01, 2020
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
The way it can integrate different softwares at one place and the way user can sign into all the integrated application from single place and also its core ability to save passwords
What do you dislike about the product?
Nothing to share at the moment, because we did not observe any issues using it so far
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
- Saving password
- Multifactor authentication
- We now access things from single place
Recommendations to others considering the product:
If you want to make things hassle-free for your employees, then please do consider it. It's not going to upset you!
