JumpCloud for device control across Windows & Macs

  • April 29, 2021
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
The UI is very simple to use and intuitive. I was able to get up and running with my first device managed by JumpCloud with automatic account provisioning between Google Workspace and JmpCloud in a bout 5 mins. After trialing several producs this was one of the very few that offered decent device control across Windows and Macs.
What do you dislike about the product?
Generally the online documentation is great, but I would like to see some warning's on the UI when JumpCloud is about to make some kind of destructive change. I thought it had deleted an account and all the data from a laptop when I unlinked a user, only to find it had hidden it.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
My first priority to is prevent data loss through the laptop endpoints. We have a mixture of Macs and Windows machines so it is important the product offers the same features/capabilities for both these Operating Systems
Recommendations to others considering the product:
JumpCloud make it very easy to manage security on endpoints, this is very important for small businesses.

Great product for the work from anywhere world we live in

  • April 28, 2021
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
We love having the cloud-based directory and device management - no longer having the need to VPN to the office to sync up. Also, we are able to enforce policies via the cloud such as user lockout policies.
What do you dislike about the product?
The only struggle we had was using the profile migration tool. This was more than likely a user error, as it was the first and only time we tried it.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We have people working all over the place - home, client offices, our office, etc. Having to worry about connecting to VPN in order to sync passwords, policies, etc was a pain. JumpCloud solved that and then some - adding additional security features on top of AD.

JumpCloud is a great way to manage Windows devices

  • April 28, 2021
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
The ease of use. The UI is very friendly. Because we have this in place, it makes the IT team much more productive and we have a centralized source to manage our windows devices across the organization. Helps us with audits, so we have a lot of plusses with them. Because it's cloud based, we don't have anything needed in-house or have to create any local servers that are outdated.
What do you dislike about the product?
The customer support is a little bit lacking. It does take a while for us to get help when we need it.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Managing Windows devices because our current MDM solution only provides services for Mac. The ease of locking a laptop and making sure apps are pushed correctly for devices is a great big plus.

Great alternative to traditional AD

  • April 28, 2021
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
I no longer have to setup an AD environment to management a group of Windows machines and a small group of users. The solution is very cost effective.
What do you dislike about the product?
Some advanced funtionality is missing if it is for use with a small enterprise.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Allow user and system management without setting up an AD environment on-prem. This cut down the initial setup time and ongoing maintenance cost.

Cross platform and ecosystem management made simple

  • April 28, 2021
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
It's affordable and easy to use. There's nothing to maintain, and it helps with all sorts of things including management of Windows, macOS, Linux machines, logins and sync to Google Workspace, RADIUS, SSO, and more!
What do you dislike about the product?
Not much to dislike. It does almost everything I'd expect. A few times m there have been quirks related to macOS encryption, new version, remote login, but they've fixed everything eventually and for new OS releases they're usually ready on or around launch date.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Mac and Windows management, RADIUS, Google Workspace sync. One stop shop for a lot of management simplifies onboarding and exits.

    Computer Software

Simple to use

  • April 28, 2021
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
It was easy to setup and the interface is simple. It's easier to manage as a small company. Not having to deal with active directory and managing servers is a big plus for us.
What do you dislike about the product?
Some things are missing or don't always work how you expect them to. There isn't as much of a community so finding answers online can sometimes be difficult if not impossible. A lot of times when I search for an answer the top results are written by JumpCloud sales. They'll mention the thing you searched for and how it can be so great for your company, but they won't actually give the answer. So that is a little frustrating.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
A lot cheaper than setting up and managing an AD environment. We had more or less fully moved to the cloud before covid hit, and JumpCloud was a large part of that. Because of this, having everyone move to remote work was seamless.

Very strong up and coming MDM and SSO provider

  • April 28, 2021
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
I like how this application both has MDM and SSO capabilities. The SSO capabilities work very well, and the MDM works excellent for both Mac and Windows applications. Some features are lacking in this MDM compared to other products such as JAMF, but the price is much lower than JAMF. The other pro that it has over JAMF is that it has SSO capabilities, so you don't have to use two different products. Some other pros that I would have for this application would be the support of zero-touch enrollment, easy synchronization of passwords on both Mac and Windows, and a grouping system for accessible identity management applications.
What do you dislike about the product?
As mentioned, some features are lacking. Some examples of that would be a more complete application management support on Mac, lack of a self-service console for installing managed apps, and it does not manage mobile endpoints such as phones or tablets. JumpCloud is a rather new contender on the market, and not every single need is met quite yet, but they are adding on to their product with updates frequently.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
JumpCloud is a solid option for businesses looking to move away from the classic Active Directory setup and looking for something more based on the cloud. It has excellent support for SAML/SSO applications. It features a good MDM option for both Mac and Windows systems. You can easily set groups for easy Identity Management, so you may effortlessly provide different applications to users according to their role or their individual needs.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Be patient for different features as they do listen to their community of users. There is a lot to gain from going to a full cloud directory instead of relying on Active Directory for everything.
