    Overview

    This is a repackaged open source software product wherein additional charges apply for technical support and maintenance provided by ProComputers.

    This is a ready to use minimal RedHat Enterprise Linux RHEL 7 image having the 16 GiB default instance volume managed with LVM.

    Login using 'ec2-user' and ssh public key authentication. Root login is disabled.

    Integrated with RedHat Update Infrastructure (RHUI) in all AWS regions. This allows the installation of new RPM packages and updates without the need of a RedHat7 subscription.

    Highlights

    • This image is built using RHEL7 'Minimal Install' group of packages. It contains just enough packages to run within AWS, bring up an SSH Server and allow users to login. Cloud-init is included as well.
    • In this RedHat 7 AMI, the default 16 GiB LVM managed instance volume is split like this: /boot 512 MiB, / (root) 4 GiB, /tmp 2 GiB, /usr 2 GiB, /opt 2 GiB, /home 2 GiB, /var rest of the free space (3.5 GiB). Using GPT (GUID Partition Table) that allows instance volumes bigger than 2 TiB.
    • Within all our RHEL 7 with LVM images, the Enhanced Networking using ENA (i.e., Elastic Network Adapter) is enabled. SELinux is enabled as well. All security updates available at the release date are included.

    What do you like best about the product?
    It is compatible with many in house and form based application. Easy to patch and expand storage. Did not find much security vulnerabilities.
    What do you dislike about the product?
    I didn't experience any downsides of RHEL 7 with LVM.

    As mentioned earlier it is compatible with many in house and form based application.

    What do you like best about the product?
    Red Hat LVM is a fantastic solution that offers remarkable flexibility in managing disk volumes. Its concept is highly beneficial as it provides a dynamic and efficient approach to handling storage resources.
    What do you dislike about the product?
    In case of serious disk corruption, LVM might be difficult to deal with. It causes a slight increase in CPU load relative to raw disk partitions, but not enough for you to even notice.
    What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
    It solved my volume management issues and this makes my environment enjoy dynamics expansion in volume capacity.
