R-studio can handle statistical packages pretty well

  • January 15, 2018

What do you like best about the product?
What I like the most about R-studio is the variety of packages that it covers. Most statisticians are well-versed with R so most of their academic papers end up being a package in R which makes it a very useful software for statistics. R-studio is easy to use and it is quite friendly. I also like the visualization packages such as ggplot2 which generates fancy figures.
What do you dislike about the product?
I think R is very good for statistics but it's quite limiting for many other tasks such as data-wrangling, deep learning, and machine learning packages. If you are working in those areas I suggest using Python instead.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I have been working with R-studio for a while now. I often run ANOVA models ore regressions. I also use it for mapping (ggmap) and visualization because I think the visualizations are great. Although, after the advent of Tableau, I barely use R-studio for visualization. Because of it being an open-source software, it is still a common software preferred by many companies including Mckinsey.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Consider making Machine Learning and Deep learning packages more user friendly and provide a good tutorial on that so that you can resemble something like Scikit-learn)

What do you like best about the product?
Rstudio for me is the principal tool that i use for the analysis of the monitor reports extracted from Dynatrace DCRUM. I like the IDE and the possibility to have all that i need in a application.
I can produce all my Rmarkdown reproducibiles reports , with charts and table, using only an instrument.
What do you dislike about the product?
I'd like to have a best editor for R like sublime text or IntelliJ with more shortcuts editing features
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Rapid creations of reproducible reports in a only one instrument has increase the speed of my application performance analysis
Recommendations to others considering the product:
For me is"the tool" if anyone make any type of data analysis with R language

Not the Most User Friendly Tooll

  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
The data that you receive is very useful. The tool makes it very easy to write scripts.
What do you dislike about the product?
You will need an in-depth lesson to even use basic functionality of the tool. Not very user friendly.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
R Studio allows us to retrieve files (data recovery) that were thought to be lost. Also, provides nice data visualization to present to people who are unfamiliar with the data.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
More training on how to use the tool efficiently.

What do you like best about the product?
The ease of use is just great. really easy to learn and powerful tool to work with. Availability of the packages
The number of jobs options a person can get with this tool is great.
What do you dislike about the product?
The GUI is not that great. Only if it was more intuitive. It needs to be more dynamic.

Ease of creating projects and mainataining a new environment of each project. This helps in managing multiple analytics projects. Another good thing is that it saves the variables and data inside a project for the next login. So you dont run into data loss issues.

Good IDE to do simple R stuff

  • January 04, 2018
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
It's simple. Very intuitive. Quite a short and simple learning curve. I have never had the chance to completely explore all the different tools it has, but coming from a PyCharm environment, this wasn't too difficult to use.
What do you dislike about the product?
It might just be too simple and lackluster. Hey, it might be just me.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
It's a great tool for Data Analysis, Data Science, Data Exploration and Data Visualization. During my time at Overstock as a Data Science Intern, I had used RStudio to work on several Data Analysis projects. It's free and I'd highly recommend using it.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
It's open source. So, it's free.
However, it's a disadvantage too.
The support it purely from the community and you cannot make it work all the time.
It might crash sometimes too, on heavy datasets.
