Dynatrace for Problem Solving

  • December 20, 2017
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Content of the topic, details related to concepts. The concept of agent less and UEM are the topics that are of most interesting.
With the implementation of AKAMAI and CDN the response time information from E2E users becomes more challenging. The analysis technique provided by Dynatrace have multifold advantages.
One of the most interesting feature of DT is PurePath. Gone are the days when we need to extract the logs across all the server nodes, midtier and DB stats and combine them to identify the root cause or the component that resulted in slow performance. Now since we have pure path we can quickly enhance our turnaround time to find the problem area.
What do you dislike about the product?
Would prefer to have more of the video and image presentations where by new users are able to articulate in their work areas.
Being experience user I am able to get the analysis done pretty efficiently in DT Client where as in AppMon need more practice.

I would prefer to have more sensor and instrumentation flexibility on the Client machine for users using DT thick client. I do know that there are tradeoff of this but can we have some solution in this regards.

In terms of documentation we on Dynatrace university, I do feel if we can have a questionnaire after each module that will help us to evaluate our knowledge attainted after going through the videos and presentations.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We are using DT for doing performance analysis for Client Trading application. The application is build on .Net Platform. The middle tier calls services where the major performance impacts are observed. We are able to identify the root cause of the problem thus providing shorter turn around time for developers to fix them.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
App Mon is new to us, went through the site on documentation. I would recommend if we can have continuation of DT client availability in parallel with app mon features.
More details as part of documentation is required on the site on topics related to Synthetic monitoring, UEM.

What do you like best about the product?
End to end visibility in user transaction. We can track/check user activities of user who are complaining.
What do you dislike about the product?

Dynatrace is awesome

What do you like best about the product?
Dynatrace is step ahead from other tools wherein it focuses on the problem identification rather than just alerting on the issue. It uses holistic view of the monitored environment and suggests you the bottlenecks way beyond the capability of the other tools. The Purepath and smartscape are one of the best features when it comes application diagnostics.
What do you dislike about the product?
Not much, but the documentation of Dynatrace Managed/SaaS could have been improved.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Dynatrace provides end-to-end monitoring of the application where in the same window you can see all your different technology boxes connected with each other in a very presentable graphs and you can easily drill down the red points and narrow down the problem areas. It definitely adds to the productivity in terms cost reduction by using less and less number of different technology agents (by using just oneagent solution).

Appmon Experience

  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
I like Appmon best. The way Purepath gives us extended details of each request, it really helps to get RCA faster. The amount of flexibility it provides in creating measures is really great. Similar to measures it also provides flexibility in creating complex Business Transactions .
Similar to Appmon we are also using Gomez solution for synthetic monitoring of our production systems. It really helps us to test it from multiple locations.
What do you dislike about the product?
I would like to see distribution plots added to charts. Sometimes it becomes important to understand distribution of different metrics over time.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
In our organization we are using Dynatrace for monitoring the performance of production systems plus test environments. With Purepath and different hotspot dashlets it helps to dig into issues. In my previous organization I have deployed many implementations of Appmon and everywhere this tool has helped us tremendously in identifying the root cause to different performance related problems.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
It is a good tool

What do you like best about the product?
I really appreciate the real time alerts and how quick it is to identify the root cause of issues once an alert comes in.
What do you dislike about the product?
There is not enough granularity in alerts to allow me to target only specific events that I am interested in.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Real time application monitoring, and diagnostics.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Dynatrace helped to reduce the cost of existing monitoring solutions and allows for quicker incident identification and resolution.

Target: Digital Transformation

  • December 14, 2017
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Easily deploy Dynatrace without the usal effort when using traditional monitoring applications.
It's easy to deploy to monitor applications which tipically are hard to monitor with traditional solutions.
Full stack visibility, for process, services, applications, hosts, end useres, databases, full coverage, and identification for all the conecctions. Identification for the exact cause and dependency tree.
What do you dislike about the product?
Dynatrace is somehow inflexible, somteimes it's needded to have more apelling and easy to read dashboards. Graphics should be possible to change. Should be possible to integrate data or dashboards from other providers. New features sholud be more mature before the release and have more configuration options. Must have more database and network visibility.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Deep visibility for infrastructure which supports the application and for the user experience with analytic information.
