Easy to learn, intuitive in its use.
What do you like best about the product?
With no previous background or experience in software development, I started working with OutSystems about 7 months ago. It amazes me how easy to learn OutSystems is and - moreover - how intuitive OutSystems is in its use. There's no need to know any code (though it is usefull) to build usefull applications with OutSystems.
What do you dislike about the product?
The one thing I dislike about OutSystems is in fact one of its benefits. There's so much inside OutSystems; so many features, so many options... it would take me a lot of time to get everything out of OutSystems that's in it.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Because we use OutSystems to build our software application, we can deliver new features every few weeks. Instead of working for months on end programming new software, OutSystems does the hard (coding) work for us and even someone like me can build and develop like I've been doing that for years.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
OutSystems is an amazing platform to use combined with an agile way of working. Delivering value every few weeks with its intuitive ease of use. Next to that it's quite easy to learn, so when you don't have the money to hire experts, training some in-house colleagues is a great way to use it.
OS dev opinion
What do you like best about the product?
Fast development and fast learning. No background experience need to learn how to develop in outsystems. It´s a good platform, overall speaking
What do you dislike about the product?
Publishing time, it takes too long to publish a solution.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We were and still are able to scan all the business processes into our platform and made our users life easier
Recommendations to others considering the product:
It has pros and cons, but it worth the try
One of the most efficient Mobile device application development environments
What do you like best about the product?
The Outsystems development environment it very easy to use for anyone with previous development experience as well as being a great place for those with little or no development experience to come up to speed quickly.
• Allows fast prototyping whilst keeping good consistency and a polished appearance
• Provides a good balance between continual deployment and traditional dev-qa-prod staging
• Enforces inter module dependency integrity
• Enabled good UI-Business-Data separation whilst still allowing for RAD
• Good merging and conflict detection when multiple devs are working within the same module
• Projects and applications are rock solid and stable once released

What do you dislike about the product?
• Priced at the high end and not cost effective for small scale development
• Shows some signs of instability in the publishing process with very large and complex projects
• On the PaaS version you are heavily restricted on access to the infrastructure and cannot get access to simple functions such as SQL replication or database maintenance options.

What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Outsystems was chosen as a platform to rewrite a legacy product developed over 30 years and bring it into the cloud. It has been a really good choice for an organisation that had no web or cloud experience and has helped avoid many of the basic mistakes that could otherwise have been made. Whist there are some limitations on flexibility and price the benefits and speed to market far out way these.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Don’t assume that because the development is easy that you will have an easy path into the app stores. You still need to comply with all the app store restrictions.
Amazing Low Code Platform
What do you like best about the product?
Fast solutions with a fraction of time. Easy to use, medium to master. Recommended best for when you don’t need to reinvent the wheel all over again. Large community.
What do you dislike about the product?
Personalization can be challenging. If you what specific things or external connections that are not supported, you have to develop you solution in .net so you can integrate with Outsystems. Not actually a dislike, just a remark.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Fast client solution delivery
Since it is low-code, less development time needed
Complex solutions made easy

What did 8 years of Outsystems taught me
What do you like best about the product?
Outsystems enables us to bring a huge value to our clients by delivering our projects really fast. This help our clients to manage their backlogs that kept growing before Outsystems. We can also can delivery mobile apps really fast without doing code for both systems.
What do you dislike about the product?
Sometimes Outsystems focus too much on making the life of the new users easy and forgets to implement more complex stuff for advanced users
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
There are 2 business problems that Outsystems is perfect to solve: deliver all the clients requirements at lightning speed and build mobile apps without ,much effort
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Keep open mind to low code. Sometimes looks magic but it is in fact a fantastic framework that have been evolving for the last 10+ years
Focus on delivering business value instead of developing
What do you like best about the product?
- prototyping to developing quickly, in the same tool
- focus on business requirements instead of technical stuff
- integrated DevOps tool : truly publish in one clic
- front-office and back-office in the same tool
- code once and publish to Android and iOS

What do you dislike about the product?
- do not under-estimate the learning curve for developers
- scarcity of Outsystems developers on the (Belgian) market
- sometimes, you have to follow the rules & constraints of the tool (but just minor issues so far)
- provider not keeping its promises for rapid delivery on first implementation

Great RAD platform, easy to integrate into your current IT landscape
What do you like best about the product?
The platform is easy to implement into your current IT landscape, it's easy to learn, it enables change, adaptivity and reduces time to market dramatically
What do you dislike about the product?
The licensing model with the AO's makes it difficult to estimate the licensing cost and that makes it hard to sell it to sr management
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
we have really complex legacy systems in place and with Outsystems we are able to build modern applications that guide our users throughout the process
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Start small and learn your lessons (because however small it is, there IS a learning curve<
Powerful development platform with only minor limitations
What do you like best about the product?
The platform allows developers to focus on larger pieces of functionality and their output increases massively. The integrated Continuous Deployment functionality is very intuitive, clear and works as expected.
What do you dislike about the product?
In some aspects, the platform lacks customisability and when troubleshooting certain issues, it seems general support answers my questions three times before I am referred to a technical expert.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Development output, and as a result agility.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Do it. OutSystems and low-code platforms are the way of the future. Do however first consider whether you have other systems that are absolutely necessary to interface with and how difficult/impossible that will be.
