Our product is entirely based on our Domino Website
What do you like best about the product?
It just works. For over 10 years Domino has reliably driven clickbook.net , our website that provides appointment scheduling services to our customers. We have had zero (none!) outages due to Domino.
It just works.
It just works.
What do you dislike about the product?
IBM's failure at marketing. This has no direct impact on the performance and profitability of our business. In fact, there is some satisfaction knowing the competition is working much harder to accomplish the same thing we are doing with so little effort. But the more widely used, the more IBM can invest in the development.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Our entire business is based on our Domino website that provides an appointment scheduling service for anyone from hair stylists to Embassies.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Don't fall for propaganda. This single product is rock solid and it takes a suite of software to equate it.

Domino is strong and powerful development platform and truly all in one server.
What do you like best about the product?
Rapid development platform, scalabilty, security, backward compatibility, workflow, low code, integration, all in one server, messaaging, chat, conference, social etc. Everthing all the best in domino 10 and 11.
What do you dislike about the product?
Marketing and roadmap before domino 10 because marketing in idea jam is no 1 of top vote in the last year. This year is user experience is no 1 of the top vote. Domino Development software product should be came from the user experience.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Domino can develop every application ex workflow, crm, hrm.email marketing, ecommerce, po, contract, legal etc.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
If you want a best development platfom
You will love Domino.
You will love Domino.
Domino is here to lead the collaboration solutions
What do you like best about the product?
Domino is rock solid. Once setup you will probably forget about it until the fist OS crash ! Domino could transform complex workflow solution to simple app , and you probably will never change it for years. One of the best things about Domino is the app retrocompatibility that will never force you to redesign your apps if not needed.
Domino is not only solid, is also simple and allows you to build simple architecture , and gives you the opportunity to get faster recover in case of OS disaster.

What do you dislike about the product?
Sometimes some of the build-in apps , control or icon looks outdated but HCL is in charge to modernize this things in the next releases.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
The TCO of Domino is incredible. There is some indipended reaserch about Domino 10 tco that will convince you to use this platform. Domino will keep simple your architecture, simple architecture means less risk and less cost .
Nothing special
What do you like best about the product?
The possibility of Low-Code project also in a on-prem enviorement. If Domino once is setup, a very fast deplyment is possible. The security layer (user access) is already there. An improvement of the platform into the future is now for sure. Nothing special, but awesome.
What do you dislike about the product?
Neraly nobody in the coding croutd knows about this product. To enter in to education programs and universites is essential. An innovation campus is using Domino, sadly - I've never herard about that.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Nearly everything that is not to specific from a 3rd party technology. Especially customer relationship solutions can be easyely realized and maintained.
It just works!
What do you like best about the product?
It’s easy to learn and develop on, reliable, and flexible (both with native languages and open source languages that runs on the platform).
What do you dislike about the product?
IBMs marketing of the product has been very poor. Domino does much more than many people realize
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Communication challenges between team members. Streamlining of workflow for mission critical aspects of the business.
Development cost still matters
What do you like best about the product?
While others have tried, very few have been able to come close to delivering the value that Domino generates inside an organization for the development of small-to-medium-size applications requiring collaboration and/or workflow. Everything needed including security, replication, search, web server, mail routing etc. are all contained in the one product.
What do you dislike about the product?
IBM have not invested in the platform in recent years and that lack of investment is starting to show. The ability to take an existing application and view it in a Web browser with little or no additional code is the most obvious gap.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
IBM Domino is not constrained to solving specific problems. It is the Swiss army pocket knife of the application development world.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Take a close look at what its new owner, HCL, is planning to do with the platform. They have a vision for this product that will see it become a clear leader in the low-code space.
Domino is the LowCode go to App for NoSQL experts.
What do you like best about the product?
NOSQL Lowcode, but also Procode, superbly reliable, upwardly easily upgradable (no rip and replace), felxible, mail, mobile, and website on one platform, secure encryption and access control. Supported by all good cloud hosters.
What do you dislike about the product?
Has unfounded bad reputation, is considered on the way out but definitely is not. Flexible, easy to get going.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Workflow, websites, connectivity with legacy systems.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Domino works, don't hesitate
A great solution for low code application development!
What do you like best about the product?
It's fast! It has about zero seconds in response time and you can find and open the information you need much faster than with other competing solutions.
The original purpose of the Notes client was to keep track of unstructured data and after all these years it's still the best tool out there. With minimum knowledge of development you can produce a fully working "tracking solution" and make it available to a team in as little as half a day. Besides the old Notes client these applications can be accessed through web browsers and now also on iPads, which is real nice.
The "Domino servers" which can (optionally) be used for handling the applications contain integrated functionality which the competitors usually offers in several different servers which then need to be integrated with each other. It has a very competent security model which keeps your data secure, both on local clients, in transit and on servers. It also supports many different programming languages that covers everything from excel-like commands and visual basic like programming to JAVA and node.js.
The product has been around for decades and after the acquisition by HCL it's likely to be around for several decades more. Your investments in the product it's likely to be well protected for a very long time!

What do you dislike about the product?
The previous owner IBM,never understood what to do with Domino/Notes and their marketing department apparently only thought of it like an e-mail client with calendar functionality. When IBM after many years realized the design of the e-mail was obsolete they actually built a new modern GUI they called "IBM Verse". Unfortunately they never made it the standard mail design and almost no users have ever seen it.
HCL need to focus on updating the design of the client for the next release.
HCL need to focus on updating the design of the client for the next release.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
It can easily be used to handle large amounts of unstructured information.
Other vendors attempts to do this have had mixed results.
Yes, OneNote looks much better but when the amount of data gets too large you loose the control. It also lacks security features.
Yes, SharePoint also looks much better and have some of the security features of Domino/Notes, but the response times are usually so long that you try to avoid using it.
Yes, Slack is better for instant communication within groups, but information cannot easily be found later. And exactly how secure is you information on Slack anyway?

Recommendations to others considering the product:
The low rating for doing business with is applicable to IBM. The new owner HCL might be better on customer relations.
Best Platform for Rapid Application Development
What do you like best about the product?
IBM Domino has all the tools (Database, development tools) to rapidly develop applications. You don't need any additional software or tools. It is very easy to develop applications in a short time. The product is mature and stable, and also has backward compatibility. Applications developed in Version 4 still works in version 10.
What do you dislike about the product?
IBM support and marketing was not good for such a great product. With HCL taking over, we expect better support and marketing. HCL should also emphasize Application Development aspects of the product rather than Domino Mail.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We develop CRM, Purchasing, Accounting, Law Office Management, Document Management, Property Management software with the Domino platform. Domino is easy to develop and maintain. Domino Database is very stable, we do not have any problems with customers data held in DOmino Databases.
Great development platform with the ability to manage your PIM
What do you like best about the product?
With Domino your investments in applications will never be lost because of the ability to run 20+ years old applications - which sometimes are business critical - also on the current and extremely modern platform. Other manufacturers aren´t able to claim this possibility.
With the new Domino V10 platform you also are able to access all of your data inside Domino NSF via Node.JS and push them to any frontend you like. Also the new feature called DQL ( Domino Query Language ) gives you the option to get your data with SQL like commands.
And the next great enhancement with Domino V10 is the native Notes Client for iPad ( and hopefully also coming to Android Tablets ) where you can access and work with your applications either online or also offline.
With Notes V10 you get some of the for years requested mail and calendar features.

What do you dislike about the product?
Well, the weak point of the environment is the client but like multiple times mentioned by HCL the Domino V10 release is a server oriented release with some extremely great enhancements. Notes/Domino V11 ( coming in 2019 ) will be a client oriented release and looking back of the speed and professionality of the Dev Team at HCL creating Domino V10 I reach out for V11...
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Great benefits because of the RAD platform with all "embedded" microservices coming in one platform. And with the possibility to "attach" all great platforms like SAP, Salesforce and other ones you can have all important informations in one place.
