HCL DOMINO

  • August 14, 2022
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Applications from Domino can be used for:

maintain security by allowing users to access, store, and show information through a user interface and by replicating data across multiple servers so that numerous users can interact with it.
What do you dislike about the product?
Modernizing the user interface is necessary.
Due to lower Domino adoption rates, integrations with currently used software programmes.
The administration's tools are a little old and awkward. The Domino administrator console hasn't changed in years, despite updates and patches.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Automation, local backups, field-level security, and encryption. Without the need for a coder, any person can customise their own personal view of the data.

I can vouch for the fact that because to its exceptional clustering capabilities, banks, tax authorities, governments, the military, pharmaceuticals, logistics, cruise lines, food companies, and more operate continuously and without concern for failure or outages.

Huge fan of Domino & Notes

  • August 07, 2022
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Stability of environment and the former ease of development
What do you dislike about the product?
One of the recent changes in V 11 has resulted in a mish mash in the development environment
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
As a 20 + year developer of solutions in Domino / Notes for many different organisations, the replication facility, flexibility and remote support Domino provides are invaluable.

What do you like best about the product?
Helps build solutions solid with embedded workflow that can automate their business quickly and effectively
What do you dislike about the product?
While no platform is immune to the possibility of hacking with domino you are less likely to have your infrastructure breeched.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
It has helped me to be able to share data between formats easily and without worrying about being breeched
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Pretty easy to use.

Drag and Drop Programming

  • June 14, 2022
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
I thought that drag and drop was going to stay in the web development sector. I'm glad they have brought this over to application development. This opens so many doors for smaller businesses.
What do you dislike about the product?
Simple approach. If you need more advanced functionality then you are going to be limited. Some need the more complicated features and ability to program and some just don't.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Simple, entry level, programming development. We have been able to do what we need with less time and experience as needed for a full stack developer. This has been awesome!

Who needs Salesforce when you have HCL Domino

  • April 14, 2022
  • Review verified by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Customizable workflow to automate tasks is just the basics. Flexibility to integrate with almost anything you might need it to work with because your company is not monolithic.
Superior email options and functionality that is available from a dedicated secured client or from a browser or device.
What do you dislike about the product?
That so may people dump on it without even using it. It makes millions of dollars, or saves millions, for about half of the Fortune 500 companies who don't even know they are running it.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Automation, local backups, security, and encryption to the field level. Everyone has their own views of the data and they can customize them as they want, no developer required.
I can attest to banks, tax authorities, governments, military, pharmaceuticals, logistics, cruise lines, food companies, and more that do business every day 24x7 with it and without fear of failure/outages due to the excellent clustering capabilities.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Domino has been around for a long time, it is not going anywhere and continues to grow and adapt to whatever is needed in the current environment. R12 just came out this year and you should try it.

Domino lives... for now

  • March 18, 2022

What do you like best about the product?
We've upgraded from R6 to R11 and the applications have run without any issue.
What do you dislike about the product?
Domino mail - really? I don't know anyone who has used this in a good 10 years.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Solutions and workflows are great and easy in Domino.

Domino - Still one of the best rapid development platforms around.

  • March 18, 2022
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Code written on Domino still runs decades later. Domino supports modern web application frameworks, like bootstrap. The security features in Domino are second-to-none and include not only database access controls but also record and even field access controls. The TCO of Domino is far lower than most of the cloud systems. Domino is very robust and can be relied upon to keep running. With good configuration, Domino has excellent defenses against external attacks. HCL are now keeping domino up to date and modern.
What do you dislike about the product?
The Notes Client suffers from cosmetic issues (it's ugly). The mail is good but since users prefer outlook, it's best not to use it unless you need to. There's a bit of bias against domino from people who experienced IBM's lack of interest in the product. Thankfully that's changed since HCL took over.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
The main issue we have is internal business resistance to Domino. In terms of benefits, we've found that it outperforms our other options, particularly Azure in terms of compatibility, ease of framework updates, general upgrade ease, stability, baked in security and total cost of ownership.

What do you dislike about the product?
Outside connectivity, like analytics plataforms
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Daily basic operations, all administration workflows

Close to perfect as you can get for an all-in-one solution!

What do you like best about the product?
Having nearly everything you need already available in the design interface simplified design compared to other platforms where you have to know what libraries you might need then have to go find them. So often, what we need is already in Domino and just works. By the same token, if you need features that are not out of the box, the integration has improved such that you can bolt on whatever you need. In addition, HCL has been a marvel at consistently delivering fresh new value with a timely release schedule.
What do you dislike about the product?
The only disappointment is that more companies are not deploying this platform due to perceptions formed years ago. The HCL story is exciting, emerging, and one worth being part of.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We run business-critical applications as well as maintaining a larger user base. The continuous improvements to the Domino Admin client capability has really allowed us to carry on without a server admin on staff.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Engage in the user community in person and online. If there is a feature you want, contact HCL and submit the idea for consideration as they are very responsive.
