Must have in your IT portfolio of tools
What do you like best about the product?
Was evaluating 3 tools for SSO, Windows/MacOS Management, and Cloud Directory to automate our mobile workforce (50+ team) and service access (esp. AWS).
Stumbled upon JumpCloud and was surprised to see all 3 category requirements meeting the bar (I have built LDAP, Kerboros, and MDM solutions in the past for my startup and understand what it takes to streamline as SaaS offering).
We had a good workflow with 4 different systems to support our team, used to spend at-least 60 hours/month in supporting the team access to dev-compute systems. Now it’s reduced to 5 hours a month (5 minutes each support window). Added benefit is better compliance, smooth new hire on-boarding.
*Highlights*
* Unified integration into Linux, Mac, Windows systems.
* 5 minute on-boarding to get started with G-suite directory.
* Impressed with multiple layers of security (Email, TOTP, keys, etc.) to protect key systems and users.
* Glad to see essential MDM features (hopefully don't have to invest in another tool).
* Impressed with the demeanor of Support, Product, Sales, and tech teams. Keep it going.

What do you dislike about the product?
Looking forward to seeing more features to package the essential software on the day of new hire.
Good to have Chrome app extension as we add more SSO SAML apps to JumpCloud.

Excellent solution for SMB's looking to get rid of an old AD Server AND need more functionality
What do you like best about the product?
It is a viable, cost effective solution to replace the key functions found in AD.
What do you dislike about the product?
In larger businesses, it was a difficult sell compared to Okta
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Replacing 2008 server installs where client has moved apps and data to cloud. JC allows the AD type function without the cost of replacement hardware, server os, install, etc.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Easier to implement in a SMB compared to Okta
Easy to trial, and good communication from Support
What do you like best about the product?
The free <=10-user tier makes it very easy to try integrations and options on a case-by-case basis, and to carry out Proof of Concept trials.
What do you dislike about the product?
I cannot see any way to brand the login page or dashboard that my users encounter.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We are looking for a central directory that allows us to unify the onboarding/offboarding of users across our various cloud services; while JumpCloud doesn't handle 100% of the integrations needed for this it covers the basics fully, especially via SAML. At the same time, being able to manage the state of end-user workstations with the same tool is a benefit other 'login services' don't offer, and once again although JumpCloud doesn't compete with a specialist end-user-security tool, it provides a great range of features in the base product and will help you ensure the security of your devices when offboarding.
Excellent SaaS authentication
What do you like best about the product?
Jumpcloud made desktop authentication easy. A small shim on the desktop and you're off to the races. The data collected by Jumpcloud is useful for troubleshooting and tracking.
What do you dislike about the product?
While the desktop authentication piece is pretty straightforward and easy to set up, other features have a bit of a learning curve. If you want to do things like set up printers, install apps, etc. then you'll need to learn a little bit of scripting.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Company was using a local active directory server. When they moved to multiple sites, this became untenable. One massive benefit of moving to JumpCloud was the ability to enable WFH, especially given the current pandemic conditions.
JumpCloud makes managing authentication to multiple services breathlessly simple
What do you like best about the product?
Extremely user-friendly user and admin consoles, cross-platform support (Linux, Mac, Windows), self-service agent deployment for users, customizable system policies, easily manageable system access, insane number of application integrations (nearly 700!), effortless custom SAML connections, ability to remotely run custom scripts on individual systems or groups of systems, Radius-as-a-Service, phenomenal support staff, System Insights!
What do you dislike about the product?
On-boarding new employees is a bit challenging due to the need to get system access set up properly (e.g. create email account to receive JumpCloud invitation, then sync JumpCloud account to O365 for password changes, etc.).
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We came from having an Active Directory server for domain auth, a Kerberos server for Linux auth, and an LDAP server for authentication to other non-AD/Kerberos services. JumpCloud literally let us consolidate all of our authentication services and added user authentication and device management for our Mac staff as well. Users now have a single credential for 99% of all corporate resources.
A truly game-changing company!
What do you like best about the product?
HIPAA Compliance is a must for our organization. Jumpcloud provided that to us in the easiest way possible. Having the ability to add updates and policies to all machines without investing thousands of dollars in equipment destined to degrade over time is cost-effective and seamless. Utilizing Jumpcloud is quick and easy, even for technicians that have ZERO experience with such a product. It has increased our productivity ten-fold.
What do you dislike about the product?
Lacking some basic functionality, but nothing that can't be improved on in future updates. The support team is very open to ideas and improvements. Some of the things that could be improved on would be support for Android devices, built-in policies, increased leverage for roles and permissions for admins or sub-admins in the dashboard, drag and drop devices into groups... overall, the functionality is there but as things progress further into maturity the possibilities are endless!
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Deploying updates to machines couldn't be easier. Having it as a web based application makes it that much better. The cost-effectiveness mentioned earlier is such a HUGE deal for us as a non-profit company. It has increased our productivity and allowed us to focus more on our growing cloud-based network of products. This is much more convenient than having to lean harder on hardware that will inevitably degrade and break or malfunction. The cloud based direction is a MUCH better option, especially in a field where reliance on technology is so high.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
My advice to anyone considering swapping or migrating is "DO IT". As we progress into a future where cloud platforms are available to replace aging hardware, it only makes sense both financially and logistically. You won't regret it.
Great alternative to on-prem LDAP
What do you like best about the product?
JumpCloud does a great job at being a central point of IAM for corporate resources. The zero-touch enrollment experience is very well documented, and we were able to easily set that up for new employees. We are now shipping laptops direct to employees thanks to JumpCloud.
What do you dislike about the product?
JumpCloud could use much improvement in the SSO/SCIM area. A generic SCIM/JIT connector, the ability to custom brand the user portal, and the ability to hide SSO apps would be a great improvement to the SSO aspect of this product. It's not quite there yet as a drop-in replacement for Okta or a more mature SSO product.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We do not need an on-prem directory server which we are very thankful for. We also have deployed a zero-touch solution for macOS and have almost entirely automated the onboarding process
Recommendations to others considering the product:
It's headed in the right direction but there are still some features that need to be fully baked for it to be a fantastic product.
JumpCloud DaaS is a great alternative to AD!
What do you like best about the product?
For cloud-centric organizations, JumpCloud offers all the functionality we need to manage users, devices and provide single sign-on from many SAML, LDAP and RADIUS apps.
What do you dislike about the product?
Built-in MFA could be easier to use. Currently it uses TOTP, would like it to use a push-notification app like Microsoft Authenticator (without having to pay for additional licensing, like Duo.)
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
JumpCloud has allowed us to run a non-AD, platform agnostic directory infrastructure. We also use it to install software and various other configuration.
JumpCloud for Directory Management
What do you like best about the product?
The centralised control that it provides across all of our systems. We are able to add users, provision them on various directories, such as Google, and have used the SSO functionality extensively.
What do you dislike about the product?
Password change on Mac has been problematic in the past. Apple were changing very quickly and JumpCloud didn't appear to be keeping up. That appears to be behind us now.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Centralised directory management - allows fine-grained control on system access and immediate revocation of access if required. It has become much easier to manage access to our systems.
Excellent Active Directory alternative
What do you like best about the product?
No on premise equipment to maintain. Multiple "servers" in one (RADIUS, credential mgmt, etc).
What do you dislike about the product?
It would be nice to have a better formatted web version for mobile devices.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Able to setup a RADIUS wifi network, MFA logon for Windows laptops, and VPN access. Simplifies credential mgmt by having a single authority.
