Innovative yet simple to use.
What do you like best about the product?
Simplicity: Whether you run a small project or a big complex one, SmartSheet can provide the framework to easily track your tasks, automate response collection and chase updates, via a simple to use interface with a set of powerful features.
What do you dislike about the product?
While the team has deployed an app to better make use of system resources and be faster, the app stil has way to go. Specifically I would like to see more features like a personal dashboard, clean temporary cache and multiple screen support (e.g. one screen for the plan and a secondary screen for the gantt), pin your most used dashboards and plan and more...
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Colaboration is key nowadays and SmartSheet excels in that area. You can have multiple people working on a project plan simultaneously while another team is consuming the automatic report generation and workers can update their respective tasks with on-tim reminders all at once.
Relatively Easy to View; Editing Harder
What do you like best about the product?
You can attach files to lines in the spreadsheet easily and set up columns and forms that will let you populate things via the form into the spreadsheet. It is relatively easy to set up templates.
What do you dislike about the product?
The automation features are not straightforward for people who have not necessarily used a platform similar to Smartsheet before. It does give you instructions and is fine for doing one basic sheet, but when you want to put together a database and amalgamate several sheets into one 'source of truth' it is less intuitive. It would be good to be able to have for example an option of putting several sheets into a folder, then being able to easily filter by dates etc in that folder. Not sure if this is currently possible, but if it is, it is not terribly user friendly.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
It keeps records of task requiring action (where you can include checkboxes etc) and you can set reminders through automation. This is also used for reminding people when things are expiring.
Smartsheet is a powerful project management tool with strong reporting and dashboarding capabilities
What do you like best about the product?
The dashboarding capabilities and the forms - set up is easy and understandable, and there are so many different options for visualization in the dashboards. Similarly with forms, the ability to create specific rules and triggers is so helpful.
What do you dislike about the product?
Smartsheet is not really an effective tool for task management, especially cross-team task management. Compared to tools like Asana or Monday, Smartsheet doesn't make cross- team task collaboration as easy.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Overall project managment - we use Smartsheet for project roadmapping and budget management. Smartsheet has made our budget process very effective in tracking spend against available budget in the many varied budget lines owned by our team.
Good for large teams
What do you like best about the product?
It's helpful for large teams as multiple people can access and see edits in real time. Also, you can set long-lead and short-lead project goals so nothing falls through the cracks.
What do you dislike about the product?
Getting used to the platform can be a little tricky. At first, it was hard for me to understand how to add a new section and/or add new tasks within the section. It gets easier to use once you practice a bit.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
It ensures that everyone is on the same page about project expectations and timing. You get emails when tasks are "assigned" to you, and it's clear when that specific task is due.
Takes out the risk of human error/forgetting or missing items.

Ease of use for Multi Editor Projects
What do you like best about the product?
The ease of using the platform for multiple user at one moment. This ensure you can work simultaniously on projects and that your collegues can help you with making the project work on the longterm.
What do you dislike about the product?
It is more dificult to program different features in the online platform. For me it is easier to use the Microsoft excell tool. If there was a explaination for the toolset this could be easily resolved.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
The follow up from different stages of the porduct can be easily showed in a visual graph which makes it very easy for non involved collegue to see the timeline of the project.
Very good platform with nevertheless many small glitches that need to be addressed.
What do you like best about the product?
That is a live document many people can use at the same time, that I can manage users' permissions to Editors, just Viewers, etc, and that the formulas are easier to use than Excel's.
What do you dislike about the product?
Several issues we keep reporting back to Smartsheets and aren't getting fixed, like for example the primary first column not being able to move or change from text to something else.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Produces reports we can go through during our meeting after the PMs have updated their programmes/resources, so everything is clearer, and we have a better idea of who is working on what and how long each task takes.
Smartsheet does an alright job but is lacking when it comes to higher-
What do you like best about the product?
Sharing information between individuals is a lot easier with Smartsheet than with a lot of alternatives. Nobody wants to use SharePoint, due to the difficulties in just doing the simplest things and storing information centrally, and hosting files on OneDrive is less than ideal due to permissions issues.
We use SmartSheet as a repository of data that isn't otherwise stored by our ERP solution, as it would take additional code and maintenance to add that in. Instead, with some careful maintenance and redundancy checks, we can use Smartsheet to host additional fields that we maintain specifically for our account. Additionally, Smartsheet's Live Data Connector driver allows us to stitch data together with other programs such as Tableau. I also highly want to recommend the fact that SQL queries can be run against Smartsheet pages, though I'll be honest that I feel the documentation on that particular feature is lacking.

What do you dislike about the product?
There are no workbooks in Smartsheet, only worksheets. This limits the ability to package separate sets of data.
Organization is definitely not a strong point, as navigation can be a painful process for our users. I struggle using the interface to find anything I need, though the Search feature does mitigate things to a good degree.
The seemingly arbitrary limit on the number of cells that can be copied and pasted, even with a Smartsheet licence, is completely unjustified from my perspective.
The Smartsheet integration with Tableau is somewhat lacking, as it uses drivers that heavily restrict what we can join on. There's a fun little issue when joining data into Tableau where, when importing any data from Smartsheet at all using the Smartsheet Live Data Connector, we cannot use certain Tableau functions. For example, let's say we have a site listed in Smartsheet as "1234", but in our system it's "ABC-1234". I can't remember at this moment whether we have to reduce the "ABC-" out of the latter record or prepend it to the former record, but one of these gives us the error message "Cannot add string and string values." This does not occur anywhere else within Tableau and from my reading, this is a limitation created by the generic driver features that Smartsheet uses in its Live Data Connector.
Smartsheet has the ability to be used as an online database, but I'm vexed that there is such a low cell limit to it. If it's meant to be used as a lightweight, online Excel substitute, that's one thing - but we're trying to use it as an actual OLDB, and we've had to go with other solutions due to the cell limit in a given workbook.
This is a little niggle, but why isn't there a built-in feature to track when a row, or cell, or anything else was last changed, or when it was added to the worksheet via a form? Seems like an easy thing to add in.

Smartsheet real time update for teams report
What do you like best about the product?
A functional software for a real time that helps in the status of a certain projects. You can easily check the status since data are there already. User-friendly.
What do you dislike about the product?
Sometimes difficult to open the website. There are certain limitations on rows and columns. By adding different tools as a choice for more visualization may help.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Project or data collaboration on different trades. With a good internet access, you can connect easily on the website. Check status on a certain project for updates.
smartsheet -- your complicated friend
What do you like best about the product?
I've come to appreciate smartsheet for project plans (incl. the ability to include due dates and assign tasks to colleagues) and online surveys, which are great to be abel to download into a spreadsheet.
What do you dislike about the product?
moving rows and columns around gets a little clunky. I wish I could grab a line and move them around. Everything seems to involve multiple steps which aren't always intuitive. When I can spend the time to figure something out, it works great--but I don't always have the time and I end up giving up on features that I think could be helpful.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
i get a lot of value out of the surveys. I particularly like how the questions can be customized (i.e. short or long text fields, drop-down selections, and additional questions contingent on the answer to other questions).
Great tool for managing projects, bear in mind this is not a Portfolio tool
What do you like best about the product?
Simplicity in ensuring all key project control data is stored and updated in one tool and easily change views of the data. Can easily @people to get things done or updated, excellent view of historical changes and ability to bring progress to virtual meetings.
What do you dislike about the product?
The ability to report progress against multiple projects that form a Programme or bring seperate programmes together in one dashboard is really tricky and actually not worth the effort of doing this in smartsheet. We at NHS Property Services have utilised a PowerBI developer to create Programme dahsboards that pull this data into a pack that works for senior stakeholders.
