Practical and versatile work tool
What do you like best about the product?
The creation of workspaces and the establishment of links between the workspace and the worksheets are done very easily. This tool is really powerful, and we still have many features to explore.
What do you dislike about the product?
Since I started using this tool, it initially offered free licenses, albeit limited, but still functional. Now, this option is no longer available and one is encouraged to subscribe to a paid license. Regarding the features of Smartsheet, I find that creating filters is not as intuitive as on an Excel file. Moreover, the dashboards are not interconnected, or their connection is complicated to set up.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
The robustness of the links between the files (sheets) is really efficient and reliable. Moreover, the file search function proves to be very effective.
Great Step in the Right Direction for Spreadsheets
What do you like best about the product?
The most valuable feature is being able to use the information across various dashboards. This makes implementation much more effective.
What do you dislike about the product?
Sometimes, transferring information into maps or other applications can be challenging.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Its helping me take equipment requests and put it into data for end of year purchasing decisions
Good for people who need spreadsheet features and simultaneous access
What do you like best about the product?
I truly value the way everyone can access and work together on spreadsheets in real time. This feature has significantly improved the efficiency and smoothness of our workflow.
What do you dislike about the product?
When working with large amounts of data, loading and saving can take longer than anticipated. In contrast to Google Docs, changes made by other users are not visible in real time—you have to refresh the page to see updates. Additionally, the editing and filtering tools could be more user-friendly.

Communication about work progress and keeping other departments updated are important aspects to consider.
Powerful tool, high expense
What do you like best about the product?
Smartsheet is an extremely flexible utility tool that combines some of the best parts of excel, with the real time management between cross functional teams. It allows users to create powerful and simple automations that enhance the usability and functionality to an entirely different realm of possibilities. The learning curve for smartsheet is low, and it's ability to inherit parent child relationships only serve to expand on the already enormous sphere of influence smartsheet can have.
What do you dislike about the product?
It is incredibly expensive. For a corporate account, the new style of billing has largely rendered the collaboration utility as a cash cow for the company. Previously, to access higher level features such as control centers, dynamic views, data tables, and data mesh; you had to pay a premium. Without those features, Airtable was the better option. With those features, Smartsheet was easier to use, but significantly more expensive. With their new billing method, any users who are editing or changing sheets are now required to be under licensing. Viewers and commenters are still free, but it greatly impacts the utility of Smartsheet. The top up method of billing leaves much to be desired. There isn't a clear way to see how many users exactly are on temp licenses, and they will automatically bill at your true-up period.

Great for Beginners, But Setup Needs Work
What do you like best about the product?
I appreciate Smartsheet's ability to seamlessly integrate portfolio, program, and project management into a single, easy-to-use platform. Its collaborative features simplify work management across functional teams, making it accessible for users to build, understand, and adopt solutions quickly. The platform's real-time collaboration and diverse workflow capabilities, including various views like Kanban and timeline, significantly enhance usability and adaptability for different working styles.
What do you dislike about the product?
I found the initial setup of Smartsheet to be confusing, which led to a mismatched implementation that wasn’t aligned with our needs. Despite having implementation support, we had to reengineer and redesign everything after three months due to a lack of understanding of the platform's capabilities and limitations. Moreover, I would like to see the introduction of a data model for portfolio, program, and project management that automatically links sheets with primary and foreign keys for seamless automation and reporting.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Smartsheet provides a foundational platform for program portfolio management and fosters easy-to-adopt work management across teams, enhancing capability from zero to one or two, and supporting collaboration and solution building.
Okay, but took away some tools that made things easier
What do you like best about the product?
I like that I can look thorough all of our sheets by searching, and can find LOT numbers, article numbers, and find it quickly. I love that our whole team can access all the files, and more than one person can make adjustments or additions to the sheets and everyone can see the updates in real time.
What do you dislike about the product?
One of the things that was taken away was the always open search bar. Something that I used every single day, extensively. It now adds significant time to my work that I have to click the looking glass emoticon on the right side of the screen to get the search bar open. Also, when I do search within the same Smartsheet, the Smartsheet then brings me to what I requested, but doesn't keep my place on the actual smart sheet. My company uses Smartsheet extensively, and me after looking up what I needed to has to scroll all the way back to get the data I needed. These updates have made your software less useful and more time consuming. Let alone the ease of use has become less and less.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Our office manager and our sales associate are trying and testing out more features to see what clicks best with our business and what additional features we can add to make our work day more seamless.
Good platform for collobration
What do you like best about the product?
The ability to use an input form to populate a spreadsheet & have controls on who can make changes to a variety of cells/columns.
What do you dislike about the product?
It is less user friendly in for formatting than other similar products for filters, searching and formatting.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Allowing different teams to work on the same item and collaborate better without duplication of work. Allows for tracking and approvals prior to moving on in the process.
Good features for the cost
What do you like best about the product?
Generally good for collecting data in form of surveys. Relatively easy to filter required information and build charts off of data.
What do you dislike about the product?
It is not easy to copy or manipulate data. For example, if I filter a selection of data and want to put it into excel, or even just download all the data into excel, this is often not doable.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
General data collection and aggregation.
I've enjoyed Smartsheet for it's ease of use, however there are areas for improvement.
What do you like best about the product?
I appreciate that Smartsheet is easy to use for those that are familiar with Excel/MS Project as it has similar functionalities. It's nice that there are different types of sheets that can be set up for different purposes, so I do use Smartsheet for tracking various items and workflows often.
What do you dislike about the product?
Project Plans on Smartsheet are not good for supporting very large projects. Me and some of my colleagues have had to move some of our larger project plans to MS Project.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Being able to track tasks, workflows, resources, team rosters/PTO calendars, budget, amongst other items. This allows for an all-in-one tool for project/status reporting.
