I really LOVE using Asana
What do you like best about the product?
I use Asana at work AND at home too. At work I use it to keep up with all the tasks I need to do (both recurring tasks and one-time tasks), assigning tasks to others (collaborating and updating those tasks as well) and keeping notes for clients too. At home, I use it to remind me when I need to replace my HVAC filters, mow the lawn, flush the water heater, clean behind the fridge and all of the other things you don't remember to do (but you know you should!)
What do you dislike about the product?
Asana can be difficult to navigate between projects (if you have a lot). Finding one obscure task in one obscure project can be a challenge. I think they're improving the search engine and navigation to fix this though
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Keeping control of tasks, assigning tasks to employees and keeping up-to-date with all of the goings ons around work.
Complex features convolute this interface
What do you like best about the product?
it used to be intuitive and clearly nest activities and outstanding items in a logical flow
What do you dislike about the product?
it has so many newfangled features and additional capabilities that it now lacks intuition and some project tasks and comments get lost in the layers
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
cross channel and dept project management
A Beautiful Project Management Tool
What do you like best about the product?
Subtasks make big projects manageable, especially with the individual due dates and assignments within the subtask itself.
What do you dislike about the product?
Privacy controls could be easier to learn. I don't like the fact that anyone with an @organization.org email address can join the Asana "organization."
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Simplifies my and my team's to do lists, love having the option to upload files and included. Having everything out of email makes it easier to track projects from beginning to end. Accountability has been a nice bonus of assigning tasks with a specific due date.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
The free service is robust enough for small offices and provide a good idea of what the product is like. The paid version definitely comes with more bells and whistles and is great for medium sized to large companies. Using Asana has greatly increased communication between team members. It has been huge in terms of accountability: team members know what is expected of them, what they need to accomplish the task, and a clear deadline.
Best Project Management Tool For Digital Marketing Agencies
What do you like best about the product?
Ease of task creation & organization of your task lists & projects. It also has a very nice recurring task feature that allows you to space tasks based on client size & how frequently they would need to be done. There is also a bulk edit feature that Trello doesn't offer & easier to use than Teamwork's.
What do you dislike about the product?
The templates are a little more rigid & aren't as flexible as other software I've used. Also, it can get difficult to utilize the same template for more than one team or department. In an agency setting, having several projects/templates for one client can be a pain to manage.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
For keeping up with recurring tasks & prioritizing work, Asana is the best tool we've used. The ease of bulk editing tasks is far better than either Trello or Teamwork. Also, smaller things such as commenting on items, task assignments, repeating tasks is easier than competitors. These are minor interface features but do make a noticeable difference when using it for several hours every day.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
This is a great solution for technical work that requires ongoing maintenance/tasks, it works very well for SEO & PPC. Also, it is possible to integrate training materials/guidelines within the interface, which keeps everything in one place.
Asana is my To Do List
What do you like best about the product?
With Asana, I can easily create my To Do List, set Due Dates, sort by those dates, and even create tasks via email. My inbox remains uncluttered this way. What I really like is whether it is on my mobile device or on one of my computers in the browser, everything stays in sync beautifully. If I'm in the middle of a meeting and know that I have tasks to do (or suddenly remember a task that needs following up on), I can make a note for myself very quickly. That way, when I get back to my computer, it's right there waiting on me. I can also easily setup a task and then assign it to one of my coworkers to complete. I can then get comments or validation that it has been taken care of.
What do you dislike about the product?
There are a lot of features that Asana has that I've not been able to take advantage of. Also, there are some things I don't particularly care for. For instance, when creating a task, if I assign it to someone else FIRST before completing the Title, Due Date, etc. then they will get multiple notification emails around the task as I make updates.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I can easily see a glance of what my day looks like and avoid over-booking myself with tasks and due dates.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
It's easy to learn and the ability to email yourself tasks make it so helpful. It took me less than 2 hours to be fully up and running with it.
Great task management app
What do you like best about the product?
I like how easy it is to share tasks and keep track of my own tasks. The ability to have projects, tasks, and subtasks makes organizing my work easy. Adding tasks via email is also a great tool, and I love that its ability to connect to other organization apps, such as time trackers.
What do you dislike about the product?
I have several workspaces. I wish Asana gave the ability to view all tasks from each workstation in one place. That would make it much easier to keep track of everything I have to do and to prioritize what needs to be done based on their due dates.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
My spouse and I each have our own businesses but we also share some of the responsibilities of each other's businesses. It's so easy to assign him something in Asana if he's not there to discuss it with him, or as a reminder of things we've already asked each other to do. We've even started using it for home tasks: keeping track of bill due dates, housework, school events, etc. It's a great multi-purpose app - task manager, calendar and reminder list all in one.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
As a small business owner, I only use the free service. Some of the paid options would be nice to have but, at least at this time, the benefits received with the paid service are not worth the price, which is kind of expensive. The free service meets my needs and then some. I can see large corporations easily justifying the expense, however.
I Couldn't Run My Business Without Asana!
What do you like best about the product?
This software is a MUST in my business! I could not run as efficiently without being able to manage not only all my client's day to day task but following a project from start to finish. It's literally home base for my business. Also, for as small as my business is, you can't beat FREE!
What do you dislike about the product?
I honestly don't have a single thing I dislike. It's free to use for small teams like me and I couldn't ask for anything more! It's literally the best product of it's kind!
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
This is basically an admin hub for my business. It can even act as a CRM when needed. I love being able to have guests into a project where they can only access that portion of the site and not gain access into my entire business.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Nothing! Everything is great! I do wish there was a calendar view in the mobile app of Asana.
Manage small to large-scale projects with Asana
What do you like best about the product?
Asana provides visibility into project status and encourages communication between teams & departments across projects of any size. You can go deep into the weeds of a project by assigning project status as a colored tag, start and end dates so contributors can efficiently manage time, and view projects in list view or calendar view depending on how high level you'd like to go. There are several efficiencies built into the platform; for example, tagging a teammate will automatically add them to the project or task if they were not previously a follower. You can also quickly adjust multiple due dates at once for several tasks. Plus, best of all, you can enable fun animations that jump across the screen when you check off a task, a little known hack that will lead to immense satisfaction (trust me). Overall, the UX is incredibly intuitive and friendly on the eyes.
What do you dislike about the product?
There are some items I'd like to be able to set Defaults for that I cannot; for example, in list view being able to auto-sort by Due Date. I always have to adjust this setting.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Asana helps our department manage on average 40-50 monthly projects, per person. That's literally hundreds if not thousands of projects that we are able to communicate with the other departments we collaborate with. I literally can't imagine doing all of this through email, or even through some fancy folder structure in Google Drive. Plus, Asana's emphasis on task completion really helps everyone gauge where we are in a project, and what's holding us back from completion.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
There is a lot of customization that can be made, including status tags and how you approach the management of projects or tasks in general. There's a lot of options, so it is best to appoint someone as lead to help craft how your organization leverages Asana.
Needs more bigger picture tools
What do you like best about the product?
I very much like the Dashboard feature and being able to pull that data into Sheets. I like being able to integrate other apps with Asana and email tasks and conversations directly.
What do you dislike about the product?
I'd like more big-picture tools. I'd like to be able to see a list of all my team's projects and see/manage some things like archiving and project due dates from that list. I'd appreciate being able to see more information about tasks in certain sections/columns. Even something like Section Title: (12 tasks, 4 completed) would be helpful. I'm looking forward to being able to switch layouts back and forth between lists and columns.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
It's helping us get better at all aspects of project documentation including billing. The Harvest integration is super important to us and making it possible to see where we need to improve or reevaluate our systems and process. It's helping us move projects forward more quickly by getting tasks and info out of email inboxes and to teammates which helps us make our deadlines.
Asana has made my life so much easier!
What do you like best about the product?
How easy it is to use, how simple it is to assign tasks to someone and keep track of what's going on. It's brilliant!
What do you dislike about the product?
Not being able to add tasks to specific time slots in a day to organise my calendar. This would help not having to use outlook to manage my calendar.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Lack of organisation on projects. Asana just makes it easier by giving me the confidence to not overthink my tasks. They're all logged in there, therefore I don't have to think about them. But I also know that I won't forget anything.
It has also helped improve the logging of external queries, helping keep track of what's going on and the progress made on them.
The other brilliant thing I decided to use it for, is for the logging of new newsletter subscribes, as it has the option to export to CSV it makes it so much easier.
