Excellent solution for team project management

  • January 25, 2017
  • Review verified by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Simple, intuitive, versatile, scalable...the list goes on. Asana is one of the most flexible, yet simple project management tools I've used. I like it so much, I use it for my personal projects and to-do list. One feature that really sold it for me is the ability to sort by today, upcoming and later, similar to David Allen's Getting Things Done approach. This has been an incredible help in prioritizing tasks and keeping track of ideas, even if they're off in the future.
What do you dislike about the product?
The one aspect I've found lacking is a central location to post notes and share documents outside of individual projects. But that's a minor issue.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Communication has increased dramatically. The ability to comment on tasks and projects is great.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
It's so simple a caveman could do it.

Really solid project management tool

  • January 25, 2017

What do you like best about the product?
it was one of my first project management tools which I used to finish the biggest project of my life - medical tourism platform and video consultations. I loved it for simple interface and really great team management.
What do you dislike about the product?
Couple years ago it wasn't integrated with many external platforms. From what I know now it's way better. You have dropbox, slack, google drive etc. It's also still not that great in mobile area. Recently I prefer Trello for really simple project management then dealing with asana or even slack which are too big for my purposes.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
As I mentioned I solved really big project with Asana. It helped me to manage small team which reduced costs and also helped me to execute and finish that big project. Most of team members was remote so we needed something solid and reliable. Asana provided that.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
I can easily recommend Asana for example for startup teams, web project teams. It'll be really helpful to manage different small teams and control their tasks. It's really great when team is using Agile method or Scrum.

Asana helps me get organized!

  • January 24, 2017
  • Review verified by G2

What do you like best about the product?
I like the fact that I can drag and rearrange things easily. Plus, everything syncs to my phone!
What do you dislike about the product?
When establishing deadlines for subtasks in each task, it can get confusing if you didn't individually label them for that specific task. For example, I have a content calendar and each task includes the same subtasks. On my phone it will just say "recipe" and the date instead of saying "xyz recipe" -- it just means I have to be more specific in my subtasks so I can see what is due from my phone
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Helps me to be more organized. Easier to see everything in one calendar and able to rearrange as needed
Recommendations to others considering the product:
I do not work with a team but if I do in the future, this is a great option. You can set individual deadlines and set it for different team members. I believe you can also add notes for members which I think is really helpful -- less emailing back & forth yay!

Great Task Management Program

  • January 24, 2017
  • Review verified by G2

What do you like best about the product?
I like that I can organize tasks and projects so well. You can have tasks, and subtasks, and sub-sub-tasks, and so on. You can have as many projects as you want as well. I can also have several companies and my own organizational space.

I also love that you can have private tasks on company pages as well. I can add things that I need to do for a certain company, but don't want my team to see. I appreciate that.

I love that there is a calendar integrated into the system and that we can assign tasks to certain people.
What do you dislike about the product?
I don't like that I cannot combine my companies on my personal organizational space. I wish I could see ALL my tasks for all the clients I work for.

I also do not like that there is not a team chat area. You can comment on items, but here needs to be a chat box for us to chat whenever we need to.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I'm solving the problems of tasks needing to be done on time and in a complete way with Asana. Things don't get overlooked and my clients appreciate that. The benefits are huge because it lets my clients trust in me.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Give it a try! It's free so you might as well. Use it for personal tasks first, then introduce it to your company. It looks confusing, but stick with it!

Simple, beautiful, and affordable way to collaborate on projects and organize your life!

  • January 24, 2017
  • Review verified by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Asana continues to push the envelope on features and functionality, but even more than either is their focus on productivity, and with that, UX. Asana is brilliantly fast with countless shortcuts to help you get more done each day.

The application allows for teams to collaborate, and organize projects and tasks down to the sub-task level without losing assignment, timing, and tracking functionality.
What do you dislike about the product?
At this time, happy with features as they exist. I'd imagine that, if using Asana throughout my entire organization, there are tools or workflows that larger teams might benefit from. For my current team of 3, there is nothing more I'd ask for.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
To-do's and joint collaboration on projects.

Asana review

  • January 24, 2017
  • Review verified by G2

What do you like best about the product?
I like the overall functionality and the fact that when due dates are changed each affected party gets an email with new dates. It is also nice because you can log directly into the platform from the reminder emails. Overall a great program.
What do you dislike about the product?
Sometimes knowing if your messages have been read is a bit awkward. For instance, if I leave a message on a task I am not informed if the other party has seen the message, so I usually send a separate email to the person to follow-up and make sure they saw the original message.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I am using this software with a company in another country so that way when we are both working on projects we get reminders and due dates for when each of us need to be done with our respective parts.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
I do recommend this software to others because it will meet your requirements and it is much easier to use than others.

Simple and effective

  • January 24, 2017
  • Review verified by G2

What do you like best about the product?
The ease of assigning tasks to my team as well as the ability to see their progress. The progress tab keeps me up to date with how many tasks are complete and how many still remain in a very easy to access interface.
What do you dislike about the product?
I wish I could assign tasks and projects to multiple people. Some projects require more than one team member and I would like to be able to reflect that in the project. Currently I can only assign the project or task to a single member and they manage additional tasks.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We did not have a good project management solution for our team before using Asana. I have been able to track all of our projects much more thoroughly which has allowed me to keep upper management and other teams up to date on progress.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Try the software first and if it meets your requirements you can move to the paid version. The free version works very well for a small team so you can get a good feel for the product before investing your money.

Asana a very good assistant for daily duties

  • January 24, 2017
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Asana has a very friendly user interface, very easy to use, since has many options but well structured.
It helps to create tasks for you and for your co-workers and see them in list or calendar view.

Also, Asana allows to control task's privacy. You can see others' tasks if they mark them as public.
You can create groups where members can assign tasks among them.
What do you dislike about the product?
At the free version, the downside is that you can not set a specific time for tasks. So you have a list of tasks per day and you can change priority dragging them, but you can not set a due time.
Also, you can not control their reminders.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Organize work. It definetely allows you to have a list of pending items organized in a simple way.
Also, I used this tool for assigning work to me and also people in my department.

It helped to have a to-do list ready at my phone always synchronized with google account and very important, in a collaborative environment.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Assana will help you to organize your and your team pending items.
It is a web tool, so you dont have to install anything in your computer. So it reduces maintenance costs to cero.
If you want to use it for five persons, you will be charged around 27 USD per month, compared to microsoft outlook tasks it might be seen expensive, however servers and maintenance are not needed with asana, making it more convenient.

A great project management tool, for small and medium teams

  • January 24, 2017
  • Review verified by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Asana is a great project management tool for small teams. It is free up to 15 people and offer good pricing afterwards. Usually people compare it to Trello, but since the introduction of kanban board and templates in Asana, it has become our go-to tool. Most templates are available with paid plan but they're worth the price. You can easily start a sprint review for example, which is great for Agile teams. Maybe the thing we like the most is project separation and sections, those help us splitting the project and focusing on the most relevant tasks sooner.
What do you dislike about the product?
Asana is great on the web and on iPhone. On iPad instead, the app is just stretched and doesn't take advantage of that use screen. I wish in an update. At least a native app it's a step forward from the buggy web app they used to have.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Using asana we improved focus and goal achievement rate by al least 60%. No going back.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Bring the whole team, including non tech people, into Asana and split sub-teams using the project feature. Then assign tasks and deadlines.
Tip: as with any other project management tool, migrate to Asana at the end of the week, to start using it on Monday.

Great lightweight task management tool for internal collaboration

  • January 23, 2017
  • Review verified by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Asana has a great UX - it's easy to use; no training or support required! We use Asana to collaborate on internal projects related to marketing, operations, finance, etc and all new hires find it very easy to start using from Day 1. I love the "My Tasks" view to organize my to do list.

It's impressive to see that Asana is constantly and iteratively improving their product. Every few months they release new features based on user requests and each new release had noticeably helped our organization's efficiency!
What do you dislike about the product?
We use Jira for our client projects and sometimes I wish Asana had more Project Management features (Priority Level, Dependencies, etc). Asana currently released a "Board" view which is a great step in this direction; they just need to build it out further to allow customization of that view and additional fields.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Internal projects - collaborating and assigning tasks to internal teammates across functions. For example, a Marketing Manager can assign a task to a Project Manager to write a case study; or an Operations Manager can assign a task to a Finance Manager. There is full transparency in these tasks and it breaks down barriers between departments!
Recommendations to others considering the product:
If you're planning to use Asana for internal projects or lightweight client deliverable projects (Design, Marketing, low complexity software development, etc) it is a great tool! It offers a great user interface that is easy to use and easy for new hires to learn, which is always important with a growing team! The "task" list interface is great for fast paced teams.

Understand that Asana is comparable to Trello, Basecamp, etc - it is not on the same playing field with Jira, Rally, etc.
