One of the greatest productivity tools out there

What do you like best about the product?
Asana has a clear interface that is very user-friendly. This is enhanced a lot by the new kanban board methodology that helps to track bigger projects. I liked that I can talk to team members on a project or task specific room. The app is also a very handy companion and we are now even trying to organize stuff like our house chores and vacation planning on it
What do you dislike about the product?
The different layering in a structure can be quite daunting sometimes as stuff are hidden in sublayers. I also disliked that you can't assign a task to multiple people or something like a department. I wasn't very positive about the way Asana handles docs from google drive as it's not very intuitive
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
although we have a simple remote work process, things still kept falling through the cracks as no one knew where in the process we were. Asana helped a lot in the remote working process that people working from home or any place else in the world can keep up to date with current projects and their own deliverables. It also helps to quickly identify where timing problems are and gave a quick way to solve by delegating work.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Asana is great for keeping track of projects but it's not very flexible to be customized for specific tasks or flows. It lacks a bit in time tracking but an open API makes up for it. we used tools like togl.com for time tracking. Also look into Podio if you are looking for a more flexible solution that can handle invoicing and time tracking

Asana provides a lean task and team management experience.

What do you like best about the product?
Asana provides a streamlined interface for managing a team's tasks, calendar, and communication. The keyboard shortcuts make it easy to navigate and become a power user.
What do you dislike about the product?
Speed. The desktop, especially with recent releases, seems to be sluggish at times. Since I have last used the mobile app it was lacking major features but was a much better experience than the original mobile app (Android.)
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I have used Asana when working on web development projects. We used Asana to specify Epics (main tasks) and specific issues around them as subtasks. We used the calendar and due dates for team planning.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
When comparing Asana to solutions like Trello and Atlassian's JIRA you can consider it a great blend of Trello's ease of use and Atlassian's other management tools.

Needs Streamlining

  • January 11, 2017
  • Review verified by G2

What do you like best about the product?
I like the collaboration ability of Asana, as well as the ability to break communication down in to teams and projects.
What do you dislike about the product?
This platform seems like a great idea, but needs to integrate itself with Google or Apple to be truly useful. If Google could have the capability to assign tasks based on Team, Project, etc the way Asana can, that would be ideal. Currently, Asana feels like I am having to re-do something I have already spent a lot of time doing - organizing tasks, projects, contacts, groups, calendars, etc.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We are a large school district that needs to be able to communicate as fast as possible, and keep connections secure. We need to be able to collaborate on a project that many eyes are looking at, and give suggestions remotely. The idea behind Asana is wonderful for collaboration, it just needs streamlined in to a larger platform to be fully usable.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Try to integrate with a larger Platform, Google would be a great company to consider. They could really benefit from Asana's streamlined approach, and Asana could benefit from their notoriety.

Excellent project management tool!

  • January 10, 2017
  • Review verified by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Easy to use, Asana was easy to set up and easy to implement. With over 140 active clients our offices needed a strong project management software to help our 20 staff work efficiently and successfully.
What do you dislike about the product?
There is no reporting or export feature and the calendar sync is weak with Outlook.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We're able to better manage client projects, staff work loads and assignment deadlines.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Make sure you have an implementation plan and processes in place to begin with your team.

Asana is great for organizing my to do list and setting deadlines!

  • January 10, 2017
  • Review verified by G2

What do you like best about the product?
I like that Asana is so easy to work in and it's easy to add, remove, change, rearrange, reorder, etc. all of the things on my to do list. It's nice to see all of my tasks in order of due date so I know what I need to focus on each day.
What do you dislike about the product?
I wish there was a separate section for recurring tasks so that they aren't bogging up my to do list. I like when things get crossed off my to do list (shorter list means I'm getting things done!) but when the recurring tasks are in my to do list, it looks like I'm never getting things crossed off!
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Easy way to organize my to do list and keep me organized and on track.

    Non-Profit Organization Management

Easy to use with clean design

  • January 10, 2017
  • Review verified by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Everything is so intuitive and easy to use, so you aren't wasting time when you create/edit lists and boards.
The lists are flexible and can be moved by dragging and dropping tasks or adjusting dates. The calendar also really came in handy when I was working on my final thesis project. Sometimes I needed to just see a long list of everything and other times I needed to see more of a timeline with dates, so I'm glad that the calendar is actually useful. In Basecamp, I never use the calendar tool - it's just not my favorite.

Another great feature is the ability to tag tasks. It makes sorting things so easy.

This isn't the most important part of the product, but Asana is very clean and beautiful. It combines style AND function. Some project management tools look like they were created by people who hate beautiful things.
What do you dislike about the product?
I don't dislike anything about this product. I do wish that there was a free trial period to test out some of the premium features. They have great guides for the product, but it would be nice to try something with your own projects to see how they work in Asana.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I use this most for personal organization and graduate classes, but I also use this for my own. I realized that when you're overwhelmed with projects and tasks, having an overly complicated tool makes things more difficult than they need to be. Because it's so easy to use, I'm able to spend more time getting things done.

Robust project management tool available for free

  • January 10, 2017
  • Review verified by G2

What do you like best about the product?
The price (free)! The free plan gives you unlimited projects, tasks, and conversations for up to 15 team members. As a freelancer, I use it to keep both myself and my clients organized on various projects. It will be especially useful as my business grows and I need to coordinate with a virtual assistant, designer, and so on. You can assign tasks and set due dates to ensure accountability. You can also link files and choose between a standard list format or board format (a la Trello). Beautiful UI.
What do you dislike about the product?
Nothing really! It takes some time to get set up because you have to manually enter all of your projects and tasks.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
As an entrepreneur, it can be easy to get overwhelmed by everything I need to do for my business. Asana keeps me organized, accountable and helps me focus on what needs to be done, when. It also helps keep my clients accountable on their projects, which helps me maintain deadlines.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Might as well test it out and see what you think – it's free!

Task tracking without the hassle.

  • January 10, 2017
  • Review verified by G2

What do you like best about the product?
The ability to assign multiple task followers; email notifications as tasks are assigned, adjusted, or completed; the ability to create task templates.
What do you dislike about the product?
Somewhat unorganized nature of the landing page showing your own assigned tasks.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Using Asana has helped keep multiple parties across teams looped in on project management without long email chains or lengthy check-ins.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Keep an eye on emails coming from Asana about new functionalities - they're constantly improving and have answered an unasked "Wouldn't it be great if Asana had..." question on more than one occasion with that exact feature.

Organization made easy

  • January 10, 2017
  • Review verified by G2

What do you like best about the product?
I love the 'checklist' feature of my to do list. It's very satisfying to check things off. I like the collaborative part of it, that my supervisors can "assign" tasks to me and monitor my progress.
What do you dislike about the product?
The organizational structure is VERY disorganized. It's very hard to use, so I normally just resort to a very basic, rudimentary list. This isn't a big deal, but there's so many features that I feel are under-utilized due to the complexity. I would love an easier way to assign labels to projects and manage different client tasks.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We aren't letting things slip through the cracks anymore. It's great to be able to hold ourselves accountable to deadlines, and since we can assign tasks to specific team members, we are all held accountable. I find I am much more efficient and productive by having everything laid out in front of me.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
It seems like it can be used for a lot of different businesses. The management feature would be very helpful to people who oversee a staff, especially project managers and client leads. Great for teams, and also personal task management. Depending on your needs Asana may be too much or not enough, but it has overall served my team well.

Best Yet

  • Review verified by G2

What do you like best about the product?
I love how quick everyone on our team can work together. It's very intuitive. It does everything that we need it to and more. We really can really organize all of our thoughts and tasks better than before.
What do you dislike about the product?
Lots of down time. There is a lot of times during the day that Asana is being worked on and is down so we lose a lot of company time. Any way that we could work locally would be great.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We use Asana to keep client info and tasks together. It makes everything streamlined.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Don't think about it. It's incredible. Just use it for any and every project. It hooks you in and I've even used it for home projects intermittently to make sure I don't fall behind. It's an amazing software.
