    Computer Software

Asana is a pretty decent software for project management.

What do you like best about the product?
I like the UI with its lots of colors, and the continuous syncing and updating.

The flexibility to create new projects without having to designate a "flow" like in JIRA is pretty powerful, but I can see that leading to problems down the line with a less organized team.
What do you dislike about the product?
Not really a dislike but I wish there were more of a way to use custom filters to sort.

I dislike that I can't apply a filter in a project as easily to see who was working on what or when things were created, and I have to use an advanced filter.

It also seems to experience disconnects quite a bit, at least in recent days.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
It's a great place to put things down, and place things in multiple buckets.

good repository to keep tickets across multiple teams.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
For those that are really used to JIRA, this isn't that bad an alternative, though it will take some getting used to.

Project management made fun and easy

  • January 12, 2017
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Asana is an interesting way to introduce gamification to project management. It is also easy to drag-and-drop existing tasks and add multiple tasks. The user interface is extremely friendly and easy to customize. There are a lot of options for changing how tasks are organized. It is also extremely easy to delegate tasks.
What do you dislike about the product?
It's not possible to assign one task to multiple people. This was difficult to deal with in my organization considering that sometimes people collaborated on the same task. The search feature also was hard to use and often returned results not relevant to my original search.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
This is a great tool for doing project management and incentivizing it with in-app rewards. Asana paves the way for better team communication while also showing tangible team progress.

Best Basic Project Management Tool

  • January 12, 2017
  • Review verified by G2

What do you like best about the product?
If you are on the market for a basic project management system, Asana is easily the best tool out there. It's free, but they don't skimp on the features. I love how easy it is to use, and how I can view my tasks and projects in several different ways - on a calendar, on a task list, etc. You can also comment on tasks, which is great if you're using Asana with a team.
What do you dislike about the product?
Asana does have a few minor issues. Sometimes it randomly logs you out and you lose whatever comment you were leaving or task you were adding. There are also some screens that require you to zoom out if you want to full see your options, which is annoying. There are also a few quirks with setting up projects that take some getting used to.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Asana is a great solution for project management. If you're running a small business, you don't need to spend an arm and a leg to track your tasks.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
This is a free program, so it isn't as robust as some of the other project management tools out there. It is best for small companies with under 25 employees. If you have more, you'll probably need a tool with more features.

Great software for keeping track of projects and timelines.

  • January 12, 2017
  • Review verified by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Being able to set deadlines for tasks and mark the tasks as complete. Being able to see everything in either a list view or calendar view.
What do you dislike about the product?
No pop-up notifications. It would be nice to have desktop notifications to be constantly reminded of what needs to be done.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I am keeping track of multiple projects with Asana. I feel a lot more organized while using Asana. It allows me to compartmentalize all of my projects, which makes it a lot easier for me to keep track of my deadlines. I love it!
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Give it a try, you won't be disappointed. Take some time to read their blog to really understand the product and then test it out yourself!

Asana is Amazing for Project Management!

  • January 12, 2017
  • Review verified by G2

What do you like best about the product?
It's ease to use. I like being able to brain dump a new process or project into Asana then go back through and reorganize it by just dragging and dropping tasks.

I love that I can communicate with my team through Asana versus logging into my email. I also love that I can upload files, images, mp3 into a task directly. It's like a one-stop-shop for getting a project done.

This is silly but I love completing a task and seeing a Narwal or Unicorn fly across my screen. It gives me a rush of accomplishment.
What do you dislike about the product?
The app for my phone is a bit hard to navigate. I like that they have an app for my iPhone so I can respond to my team while I'm on the go. However, sometimes I can't find projects that I am looking for on my phone and that is a bit frustrating.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Asana helps keep me on track with projects and it helps me always know where I am with working with clients

Asana Frees My Mind

  • January 11, 2017
  • Review verified by G2

What do you like best about the product?
I like the visuals of the project boards, the ability to assign tasks to team members, and the lists.
What do you dislike about the product?
Tasks flooding your inbox can be overwhelming. I wish there was a way to mute certain projects or mute updates based on a time frame (IE no updates from an item listed at Q4)
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
It's less business problems and more allowing me to shift items from my inbox, notepad, and sticky notes into asana.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Don't just get Asana assuming it will solve everything, it's primarily still up to you to make it part of your routine and be able to distill information into it.

Basic project management tool

  • January 11, 2017
  • Review verified by G2

What do you like best about the product?
I like the fact that it's a project management tool and also helps prioritize tasks for departments. The chat tool is very convenient and it's nice that it allows you to integrate google sheets. It is a seemingly user friendly and a useful tool for project management overall.
What do you dislike about the product?
It is not an all-in-one program. Our agency has the need for a software that not only helps with project management, but we also need time tracking and a more efficient way to invoice etc. This is only one of the components we need. This would be great for someone who just needs a project management tool.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
While my agency used this, it did help determine deadlines and priorities and allowed teams to easily communicate within a project. We were able to hit our deadlines and adjust tasks on Asana as needed.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
A great tool for basic task management for any company.

Best Project Management System To Date

  • January 11, 2017
  • Review verified by G2

What do you like best about the product?
I like that you can assign tasks and due dates to people, and the new 'board' feature which integrates the functionality that trello has.

It's also great because people get automatically notified and I can clearly see what is due and what is finished.

I like the checklist.
What do you dislike about the product?
I don't like that projects automatically show for all assigned people in the Workspace. Sometimes I want to create multiple projects for my developer and myself and assign different clients for each one. I have to create new workspaces for all these projects and it becomes quite a lot of Workspaces.

Rather I would like to have small amounts of Workspaces, such as Web Development, App Development, Graphic Design, Themes etc and have multiple projects with different people inside. There is no option to do this.

That is my biggest annoyance with the software right now, because it's not logical to the way I want to project management.

I also wish you can assign a task to 2 people if needed.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Organzine all my projects! I used to have around 5 projects running at the same time and those could be handled with email, however, now it's more like 15-20 projects at the same time and I need somewhere to organize and keep all the data. It's great, minus the whole structure hierarchy that is ridged. If they allow the ability to control people inside projects of a workspace it would be wonderful!
Recommendations to others considering the product:
I always recommend people to use Asana, especially my clients and workers.

Great tool for simple project management

  • January 11, 2017
  • Review verified by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Perhaps the greatest benefit of Asana is that it is free for small teams, so it's a perfect tool to try out with no risk attached. Unlike something like Microsoft Project, Asana is also web-based so you can access it from anywhere at any time (including from mobile devices), which is extremely convenient.
What do you dislike about the product?
This is not a true project management tool; it's perhaps more of a task assignment tool. It does not have the built-in ability to create Gantt charts, for example, nor can it do critical path analysis.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I've used Asana within a small business to keep track of required tasks, when they're due, and who's assigned to them. We'd tried other means of doing this (including a shared Google Sheet) but Asana has a number of nice features including: integration with Office 365; dividing people up into different teams; email alerts when you've been assigned a task or when tasks are due; and support for team "conversations".
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Perhaps the greatest challenge is not Asana-specific, but is common to all collaborative tools: it is only useful if people use it. Therefore, it must become habit for team members to check into Asana daily; update their tasks; and so on. Otherwise it will not work.

My notes specific to Asana are that it is not a complete project management package. Notably, one task cannot be made dependent on another so Gantt charts and critical path analysis are impossible. I understand that it is possible to sync Asana with InstaGantt but I haven't tried this myself since it wasn't necessary in my application.

    Education Management

Great product, minor learning curve

  • January 11, 2017
  • Review verified by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Dates on calendar keep me well organized, as well as ability to tag colleagues and receive messages and updates directly to inbox.
What do you dislike about the product?
With so many features it was a bit of a learning curve for our company. I also don't like that once a task is marked complete it disappears completely, then when my boss wants to go in to write a response or check something in the task, he/she must mark in incomplete, or sift through all of my completed tasks.

While most of the site is well organized and fairly user friendly, some updates are needed to the section where you assign subtasks or add followers to a project.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
It helps keep the entire team communicating regularly, and has helped new project managers effectively manage their teams. It has also helped keep me personally on track with all my work, and allowed me to become better at time management. It also allows us to get a big picture look at all the different projects and tasks we are doing as a team at once.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Give some upper level staff time to familiarize themselves first before making it something that the whole company starts to use. HAving at least one expert to teach others, or who can at least answer questions when others are unsure would be a great benefit. Despite minor learning curve and a few usability concerns, I cannot recommend this product enough for team and time management.
