Good free version, but performance issues abound
What do you like best about the product?
Asana is very simple to get setup and start using, which is one of the main reasons we used it. Tasks are easy to create, add custom fields to, attach files and place in relevant projects. Looking up a past task is easy as well thanks to the robust global search.
What do you dislike about the product?
Performance takes a nosedive as the company got larger. Tasks would take 10-20 seconds plus to open, and it was slowing down productivity. Frequent forced logouts and page crashes abound as well.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We needed a project and bug tracker that was free and simple to use with an Agile methodology.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Be ready to deal with performance issues as your dataset gets large.

Helps me categorize all the work/projects I'm working on.
What do you like best about the product?
I mostly love how many layers deep you can go within even a single project in Asana. The check boxes are key for me to get things completed, and I often use Asana to not just get through basic daily work todos, but to chase down new projects and client.
What do you dislike about the product?
I wish there was a project tab for daily tasks that would refresh every day. So basic things that need tending to would start over every single day. Maybe not quite a dislike, but a wish.
Actually, one thing I dislike (at least on the basic level of membership) is that you can't assign multiple people to one task. That's a huge bummer when you are working with other people, but to assign tasks you can only assign one person. I makes it difficult for that individual to remember their tasks within that task if they're name isn't attached to it.

What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I'm getting stuff done. that's the main one - I'm way more organized that I am with my previous sticky-note system. I love that you can set deadlines. Super helpful. When I do work with others, it's so great to all be on the same page with deadlines and expectations. better than sending tons of emails.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
I've heard some folks say they felt like it has a learning curve for user friendliness. I can hardly remember that since I've used it so much, but I would recommend sticking with it and committing to figuring it out. I've tried a few others and came back to this one.
The Best Project Management Platform!
What do you like best about the product?
I love that Asana allows us to create multiple projects, tasks, and subtasks. It's really helpful that I'm able to assign certain subtasks of a project to different people with various due dates. Plus, once I archive a project, I'm always able to find it again by looking up the job number or title we created for it. Asana keeps our agency's head on. We're always able to see who did what and when to which project.
What do you dislike about the product?
I dislike that there is no option to track time within the platform. We have to do that through a separate platform.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Using Asana allows us to keep track of our projects and keeps us on track with completing them on time. We've realized that we really do need something like this since no one can remember absolutely everything!
Recommendations to others considering the product:
This is a great platform for managing projects. I wish it could do more like, like keep track of our time spent on each project, but this is pretty outstanding as-is. It also keeps every project forever, even after archived so you'll never lose it!
Asana helps us at SealSmile to manage our team.
What do you like best about the product?
I love the way I can easily assign tasks to my team members and track the progress online.
Also, in SealSmile we are daily using asana for communicating with remote team members.
Another great feature is the integration with plug-ins. Using them we can enrich the functionality of the platform . For example instagantt is a great plug-in that allows you to quickly create gantt charts.

What do you dislike about the product?
Well it might be tricky to follow the updates and conversations on each task. It happens to miss some important updates. I would appreciate if the guys on Asana could work a bit on that and provide a more efficient way to follow the comments on each project and task.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
In SealSmile we are using Asana to:
1) assign tasks to team members
2) track the team progress
3) build a shared knowledge base.

Intuitive and keeps us on track
What do you like best about the product?
Asana is so easy to use! It hardly takes any training and you can be up and running really fast. The calendar is a great way to see things at a glance, and being able to highlight activities the same color is a nice feature. I love their hacks and celebrations, making project management fun.
What do you dislike about the product?
We do a lot of events that run 2-3 days, so it would be nice to be able to set a date range instead of only a single day
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Deadlines were being missed and items were being forgotten before implementing Asana. We are now able to stay on track of items and have utilized this over email so that everything is track and not lost in an inbox.
Free tool that helps organize teamwork
What do you like best about the product?
Free tool; Easy to use; It's possible to organize several projects in the same account; useful calendar for visualizing the tasks and deadlines; It's possible to create conversations between team members; lets you add multiple members; have a dashboard to get a view of your team's progress on projects.
What do you dislike about the product?
There is no translated version in Portuguese; Only have basic tools in the free version
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Easier to organize the various tasks; Easier to visualize what remains to be done; Easier to communicate between team members
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Very intuitive, easy to use, great help to organize and set goals, allows you to create conversations between team members
Great for Support Issues
What do you like best about the product?
You can easily add a list of items/issues all at one time, and Asana creates a separate task/ticket for each item.
What do you dislike about the product?
It could never replace a project/time management system since it doesn't incorporate those items.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Asana is a great way to track support issues and make sure they get addressed/resolved. That's the main thing we use it for. Communicating bugs/issues to a developer, assigning those bugs/issues to developers, and holding them accountable has been much easier with Asana.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
I would consider Asana for task/bug/issue management only. I don't believe that Asana is a robust project management solution.
Fairly good project management cloud software
What do you like best about the product?
I have been using Asana for a very long time now. It's a good software to manage projects and also I like the integration with Toggl.
What do you dislike about the product?
Sometimes seems too heavy, cluttered and hard to get around. When you open and have a lot of tasks on you it's hard to concentrate and focus on a single task. I like the ability to tag tasks.
I don't like that you cannot create subfolders within a project and have to use semicolons to separate things or milestones.
I don't like that it shows the text with the history of the tasks activity. It's makes it hard to read and very busy.
The like button - resembles a "heart" - seems a bit silly to me and lots of people don't use it for that matter.

What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We are using it for assigning tasks instead of using emails, where you can set due dates and have some feed communication between members of a team. Usually it's about software development projects but also used in general business activity tasks.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Consider also trying to use Trello. It's is much more simplier that Asana and might be easier to starting using it, especially if it's a small team.
Great for process-oriented jobs
What do you like best about the product?
I love that asana helps you capture everything you need to do in one simple interface. It's best for people whose work is very task-oriented, so you can check off, one-by-one, each of your tasks. You can also organize by projects, with different teams for each one, which is great for cross-team projects. Overall, it has saved me from forgetting so many of those small, simple tasks that, if I didn't write down, would be forgotten immediately.
What do you dislike about the product?
I would like if Asana had the option of adding a little bit more complexity in its user interface. For example, if I could schedule time/date-sensitive tasks to move themselves or reappear as reminders at the top of my list that would be awesome, since I gradually start to ignore the tasks that are there too long in front of me (I become blind to them)! Otherwise, I love how easy it is to use, and how it keeps me focused throughout the day.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Organization and productivity. Asana helps to keep me focused and maintain a clear vision of my work, on a macro and micro level. I am able to see all of my work at once, broken down by tasks and categories.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Its very easy to setup, so try it out to see if you like it. It doesn't require much of a time commitment to set up or there is not a steep learning curve.
Keeps Things Really Organized!
What do you like best about the product?
I love those organized this program is - we have a group of 5 people using it and it keeps things neat for all of us. I love how it individualizes tasks, as well as makes group tasks. Plus, it's very easy to use after looking though the tutorial quickly. The side task bar can be broken down by month and the color-coding make it SO easy to glance at and know what's coming up.
What do you dislike about the product?
It seems a little overwhelming at first but you must make sure to check the tutorial first and then you'll be fine! At least, my executive officer made sure to create a tutorial so it's a great idea for everyone to just scan through the pdf's with tips.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We're organizing a grouping of new officers with a new organization, so we were in serious need of a major organization tool to get us all on track with our new roles/tasks.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Make sure to check the reading material/tutorial before starting and it will make it easier to implement/use!
