Great app both for personal and professional management

  • June 11, 2017
  • Review verified by G2

What do you like best about the product?
1. Great and clear interface. Everything is on the page but it`s not messy.
2. Calendar can be synced with your Google Calendar (takes time sometimes) and has a very convenient view mode.
3. All functions are at hand and it`s very simple to use it and understand.
4. Creating teams and projects is much easier then on other task management apps.
5. I like the Android mobile version though some functions are not available.
What do you dislike about the product?
Currently I am using ASUS Zenbook and ASUS Store offers free Asana desktop version for Windows but it doesn't work when you download it for Windows 10. It suggests you to log in via Google, opens a web-page and remains white without any result. Tried many times and had to change the app for desktop usage.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I`ve been using Asana for around 4-5 years. Started to use when I worked for an international organization and was part of a big project management team. Then I continued to use it as a team leader to track my own team and manage bigger projects. Currently I use it as a personal manager to track myself and prioritize daily household tasks and new work projects. I love Asana for its simplicity and quick response.

Simple but extremely effective Kanban board

  • June 09, 2017
  • Review verified by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Easy to get up and running. Easy to configure. Dead simple to get a quick status of all active workflows. If you want to organize your personal workflows, or only have a few Engineering teams, this is the scrum board to be using. Also love the mobile app. Great to always have this info at my fingertips.
What do you dislike about the product?
May not scale as well as Jira but you don't need to invest dozens of hours into learning how to administer the product.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Company wide visibility of all workflows.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
If you want to spend more time executing workflows and less time administrating the software you are trying to use to manage those workflows, this is the product to use.

Asana

  • June 09, 2017
  • Review verified by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Asana is a wonderful tool to keep teams on task as well as to manage personal tasks. It also has a great mobile app that automatically updates to the online interface.
What do you dislike about the product?
The only thing that would be nice would be to have more interactions with other programs. It would be nice to sync more calender's and consolidate lists into a singular system.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
The biggest problem addressed is project management across different teams and locations. It allows easy to follow tracking so that everyone stays on track.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Once you try it it will become a value tool for your team or for your personal task. In trying the product, utilize the web side to set everything up and utilize the app as the management tool

Asana keeps our satellite company connect and moving forward!

  • June 09, 2017
  • Review verified by G2

What do you like best about the product?
I like the clean appearance, mixed with a hint of fun. The company offers very robust support in the form of a quick-start guide, video tutorials, webinars w/Q&A sessions, and even a forum where you can post questions like, "how can we use Asana to _____" and others will give you their best practices. The company is responsive and open to feedback from users, continually improving the product.
What do you dislike about the product?
Asana does have limits in terms of hierarchy: Organization, Team, Project, Task, Subtask. In my organization, I'm on 3 teams and have 20+ projects on my plate. I wish there was a way in the list-view to make project sub-teams, or have a little more versatility in the way the structure could be organized.
I bummed at the current lack of integration with personal task managers. Asana is wonderful as a team manager, but it's too large to be an effective personal task manager for myself. Integrating with big players such as 2Do, Omnifocus, Todoist, or Wunderlist would be a big boost to the software.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We are done with email! No more digging for action items in an email. And no more dropped balls. We've enacted the following company policies to make Asana work for us:
Tasks must have an assignee, even if it's the creator of the project (for tasks that cannot be completed, such as references notes) and all actionable tasks must have due dates, even if it's an estimate.
If someone sends an email with an action item, the addressee can say, "great! Could you task me w/___ in Asana please?"
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Definitely use Asana if your company is generally organized, but you have spread-out departments or employees/contractors are just struggling to get tasks assigned out to folks. However wonderful Asana is, it will not fix a dysfunctional workplace, or eliminate CYA politics. I recommend trying Asana with a small project and only use it for certain things, seeing how people like it.

Very Good Choice for Managing our Projects

  • June 08, 2017
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Integrates very well with Harvest, which we use extensively to track our time. Also, assigning duties is a breeze. Notifications are good as well....not on overload like Basecamp seems to have.
What do you dislike about the product?
Too easy to add new tasks (that doesn't sound bad, but too easy to add one when you didn't mean too). Then it seems like a bit of a pain to remove the new task you didn't mean to create!
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Project and time management mostly.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Definitely like it better than Basecamp...but those are the only two I have used of this type of software.

Complicated Software with a Learning Curve

  • June 08, 2017
  • Review verified by G2

What do you like best about the product?
I like that asana is easily accessible from multiple devices so when I move from my computer to on the go, I can still access my projects.
What do you dislike about the product?
There seems to be a learning curve to really understand how best to use Asana. I didn't spend enough time learning how to optimize using it for my teams benefit, and it ended up being left behind. We stopped checking it because it was easier to just email each other. Also, Asana looks different on the comp vs mobile so it's almost like learning 2 different applications.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I was using Asana to organize my pre-production team for my film. However, we have slowly stopped using it as it has become overly complicated and unnecessary for our needs.

Asana gets it done

  • June 07, 2017
  • Review verified by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Task reminders. Put all my invoices (when to bill) and client deliverable dates into the calendar and get reminders that I set (two weeks out), reminding me of what is still left to do so nothing slips between the cracks.
What do you dislike about the product?
Outside of task reminders, not utilizing Asana to the fullest. Tough to learn a whole new system when have already been doing it on another platform.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Client meetings and client billings.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Do a deeper dive into what else the platform has to offer so you aren't just utilizing it for one specific reason and can maximize the potential.

Asana lets you re-manage your manager

  • June 06, 2017
  • Review verified by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Historical data on tasks completed for similar projects, being able to link those projects together and reference them as needed. Being able to reassign and correct dates for things assigned to you.
What do you dislike about the product?
The inbox has become useless for me because my manager duplicates entire projects to recreate a number of tasks and drowns everything else out every time. Project templates would be great for him so he doesn't automatically assign me 20 tasks just to go back through and delete them.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Communication between client and freelance work, due dates and times lets assignments be prioritized clearly.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Talk about implementation with everyone using it to define what the standard for projects vs teams are.

One of the best task management softwares out there

  • June 04, 2017
  • Review verified by G2

What do you like best about the product?
I like how there are multiple ways to view your tasks. You can view it as a normal calendar, you have the option to organize tasks by tagging them and search by tag, or you have the option to view a full list of all the tasks that are assigned to you. It's an all-around excellent way to make sure you A) don't forget about tasks in the depths of email, gchat, or slack or B) have a visual view of all the tasks you need to complete. I also like how you can create different projects for each client and even further organize tasks by category within each project. It also integrates fully with our time management software.
What do you dislike about the product?
There's not much to dislike. I've used it for two years now and I live and die by it.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Our project management abilities as a company has increased as a result of using Asana. Because very few deliverables slip through the cracks, we are able to prioritize better and look more professional in front of clients.

Great platform for team communication and project management

  • June 03, 2017
  • Review verified by G2

What do you like best about the product?
For large projects, it is excellent to be able to assign tasks to individuals on the team, set due date, etc to ensure that your project will get done. It makes project management and delegation so much easier! It's also great to be able to check in on how a project is coming along and if you might need to change your deliverable dates.
What do you dislike about the product?
The text editing/writing experience is atrocious.

Writing task descriptions or comments is pretty horrible. It is a blank text box that DOES allow formatting, bulleting, etc, but there is no WYSIWYG editor interface or way to change formatting or remove formatting when you do a copy/paste. Additionally, don't use CTRL-Z or Command-Z to undo something! It will completely erase everything you wrote into the text box and it is next to impossible to get it back. I also find that Asana tends to crash, refresh or have an issue when I am writing something lengthy, so myself and the rest of our team has resorted to writing out lengthy task and project details into a google doc first, and then we will paste it into Asana (helps with the formatting issue too).
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
The delegation, task management, and process around contributing to projects. Our entire company is operated using Asana.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
I highly recommend it!
