Asana is the ultimate task master.

What do you like best about the product?
It easily allows you to alert your team on project updates without bogging down people's inboxes.
What do you dislike about the product?
Asana in general is very user-friendly. My only suggestion is more quick training and tips on how to better use it.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
The ability to see everyone's workload so we can juggle and pitch in accordingly.

Life saver

What do you like best about the product?
I love the simplicity and the fact that you can add a team. The conversation and add attachment features are nice to have because it keeps everything together in one spot, rather than trying to keep track of a ton of emails. I also like that I can sync the Asana calendar to my Gmail calendar.
What do you dislike about the product?
I currently haven't run into any dislikes yet. The only thing I didn't like at first was the fact I kept getting email reminders about tasks that I had completed, but I ended up just changing the notification settings.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I'm currently using Asana to keep track of multiple projects I'm working on for my clients. Its main benefit is the fact that I can keep all of my thoughts, deadlines, files, and team conversations all in the same spot rather than using many different platforms to achieve the same thing.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Asana is amazing and super easy to use. I have awful organization skills but this platform has saved me on numerous occasions and has turned me into a neat freak!

Good fit for a small business

What do you like best about the product?
Extremely easy to use. Fantastic online help.
What do you dislike about the product?
Asana's dogged refusal to include a start date for tasks. Reporting is lacking. Not enough control of external (client access).
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We needed a cross platform collaborative but simple project management tool. Needed team members to have visible responsibility of tasks. MS Projects was too expensive and too cumbersome. Asana gives us all this. Templates is also really handy as is the Instagannt integration.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Not sure if and when a start date for tasks will be included - although this is available in instagantt.

It's my external brain

What do you like best about the product?
I love the email reminders for tasks with due dates. I create projects and can set tasks within each project - it's fantastic. I use it at work as well as for my side hustles.
What do you dislike about the product?
I don't use the phone app very much, it's not quite as stupid simple as I like for phone apps. Right now I do a clunky combination of Asana on my computer and the Things app on my phone. Not ideal!
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
It helps me separate and organize my to-dos, rank them, and track my progress. It helps keep me focused and motivated when I feel like I'm being pulled in a million different directions.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
None

Good but not great project manager

What do you like best about the product?
Easy to use on all platforms
Fairly simple layout
Has easy ways to add tasks from gmail and chrome
Nice linking to Google Drive as well
What do you dislike about the product?
No start dates on tasks, only due dates. This is a deal breaker for me, as I like to log both when I received a task, and when it is due. Also too easy to delete entire Projects and Tasks... Have had a few shared things just disappear... also tasks just "stay" in the project view forever, and if you have repeating tasks it becomes a long list...
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I wanted a "shared" project list with some of my clients and team mates. This fills the bill okay, but after a few years of trying with a few different clients and projects, we have always moved on to other solutions.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Does a good job at some things, and might fill the bill for you

Asana saved my sanity

What do you like best about the product?
Seriously, everything. The ability to segment different items into projects, tasks and subtasks - then to be able to assign them to a team member and set a deadline has made our workflow 100 times easier.
What do you dislike about the product?
It can be very easy to overlook comments on tasks from team members. I like the comment feature, but feel like comments fall through the cracks sometimes.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
They have become our central project management hub.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
The free trial really lets you get into the software and see how you like it. I'm told that it isn't that different from basecamp or trello, but I was so happy with Asana the first time I tried it, that it wasn't even necessary to try the competitors.

A great tool for project management

  • June 13, 2017

What do you like best about the product?
I love that Asana is great for collaboration between teams. Specifically, in our organization, we have used it for keeping multiple team members on the same page about customers that we interact with.

In addition to helping with our customer efforts, we also use Asana for recruiting and hiring, training management, new customer processes, and ongoing customer management. I feel that no matter the task, Asana is able to mold to your needs.

I have worked with Asana now for almost two years. I really appreciate that they are constantly improving their platform and adding new features.
What do you dislike about the product?
As with any project management tool, its very easy for things to get lost. While I like that topics, tasks, customers can belong to multiple projects, I find that this sometimes leads to blackholes of information. It is sometimes unclear where to go for a specific set of information.

I do think some of this could be resolved with better use. Asana does offer 1-1 training which I should admittedly probably take more advantage of.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Customer tracking, hiring and retention tracking, metrics reports.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Spend the time upfront to put your team through training so that they all understand how to use Asana and the benefits of using it. Asana definitely requires buy-in from the entire team to use it and keep it as the one source of project information. This will say much time down the road!

Granular Task and Project Management

  • June 13, 2017
  • Review verified by G2

What do you like best about the product?
The free version is robust enough to get started and really helped us wrap our heads around all of our client projects.
What do you dislike about the product?
Lacking a native global calendar view. It would be very helpful to see all scheduled tasks across all workspaces.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We have many internal and client projects with a lot of moving parts. Asana helped us balance our workload across the board.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Don't try to over organize / categorize—can always get more detailed later. Also, view tasks as malleable, tasks requirements can change over time, consolidate or become multiple tasks.

Great task list platform

  • June 13, 2017
  • Review verified by G2

What do you like best about the product?
It is very easy to separate out multiple projects and keep track of each item needing attention
What do you dislike about the product?
Lacks some of the collaboration tools of more robust project management tools
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Tracking individual tasks, keeping each project organized with relevant info. Even when using more robust platforms with my team members I still fall back on Asana to track my personal progress.

Great for Project Organization

  • June 12, 2017
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
I like that I can separate out all my tasks by project and keep track of individual pieces as I go. It's not one giant to-do list or just a board of stuff to do. It's organized by date, by project and who owns each piece.
What do you dislike about the product?
Naturally, not having pro features as part of the basic package - but I get it, it's a business. The only part I hate is that it would be nice to assign things to people who aren't on Asana. Meaning, they may not want to use Asana, but it's good for me to track where a piece of a project is at.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Organization of projects and being able to prioritize what needs to be worked on first.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Definitely do your research to see what type of project management tool will work best for all of your team. I feel like picking between PM tools like Asana comes down to how you visually interpret task lists.
