Asana works great for small teams!

  • July 10, 2017
  • Review verified by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Asana has several interesting capabilities--I particularly like the Team Calendar and Conversations option. I found the interface super easy to use and I've had no issues assigning tasks and projects to team members. I also like that you can upload documents to specific conversations and threads, which really helps to limit email clutter.
What do you dislike about the product?
Compared to other project management platforms, Asana does not offer Gantt chart options.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We've been able to optimize team performance and communication.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Yes, I would recommend.

Asana Experience

What do you like best about the product?
I like that I can visually see the tasks I create. It lets me assign tasks to various users as well which is nice.
What do you dislike about the product?
I wish it would not allow team members to reschedule tasks/move project timelines and there were stricter permissions.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I have solved project and team management issues, especially with a remote/virtually based team.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Engage multiple team members.

Asana: Task manager and team collaboration made easy

  • July 09, 2017
  • Review verified by G2

What do you like best about the product?
At first sight, Asana can look over complicated and intimidate with all those options on the same page. In fact, after a couple of days, I found it very easy to work with and handy to follow the progress of our software development projects. I like most the conversation tab and task comments that really drop down our email exchanges. On the free version, you can work really comfortable.
What do you dislike about the product?
It is just a project manager. No CRM, no clients records. I have to use a separate CRM and match the info of the client. The client is part of any project and the main contact should be there and see the progress of his project.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Better work quality on our projects and better communication between members of our different teams: marketing, design, programming.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Great for project management and task assignment. Very good team communication. Use the Free version to start with and get used to it and upgrade when/if you need it.

Project management for Marketing dept

  • July 08, 2017
  • Review verified by G2

What do you like best about the product?
It is easy to check in on a project status. We were able to customize Asana to fit our working style or use their templates as they suggest. We enjoy inviting collaborators to participate as much or as little as they want.
What do you dislike about the product?
Our team had to agree on how to organize ourselves so we could follow the projects and tasks easily.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We have multiple projects happening at once in Marketing so we need to stay on top of them and manage priorities. We use an Agile approach to our work and Asana complements it nicely.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
It took me a little while to get used to this platform, but it is worth the time. My team is mostly virtual and it is a great collaboration and project management tool.

Asana - Project Management on Steriods (without the confusion)

  • July 07, 2017
  • Review verified by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Super easy to learn, very little learning curve. Also, Asana and many others have put out great YouTube tutorials.
What do you dislike about the product?
Some of the other product integrations are confusing. Not sure how to use them along with Asana.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I have many client with different tasks, keep them all organized
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Be able to switch between list and board. I set one project up as a list, and would have liked the board setup better but couldn't figure our how to switch it without redoing the project.

Best project tracker blending simplicity and features

  • July 07, 2017
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Asana is hyper-efficient if you focus on projects with tasks and sub-tasks, a single owner per task, and some date/priority/tagging info. My team was quickly able to adopt it to a variety of projects, ranging from a few tasks to a 6 month timetable. We test-drove 5 apps and chose Asana with no regrets. The add-ins are free/inexpensive and powerful - GANTT view, time tracker - though you need some commitment to use these well, as they're data-integrated but sometimes with different layouts than the base project. Buy into the premium license and you receive much welcome granular access/privacy controls and customizable fields/variables per task.
What do you dislike about the product?
The reporting-to-spreadsheet capabilities are decent - # of tasks started, open, closed, and a paragraph of status. This is good enough for status online but management would welcome better .csv output by task within project. I'd like to be able to assign one task to more than one owner. I get around this by using a meta-tag to note the name of each secondary owner.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
It's used in slightly different ways by the project manager's purpose. Some use it to ensure every idea and task their team comes up with is tracked (never lost or forgotten). Others have created template to roll out repeatable projects (for us, webinars and events have a master checklist to duplicate and follow. We also are working up .csv output to show management status of projects.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Define how you expect to track projects first, then take a trial of the software.

Asana's best feature is the subtasks.

  • July 07, 2017
  • Review verified by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Asana is practical. If you are looking for a no frill—straightforward project management system...this is for you. I love that you can set a timer to repeat tasks, mark things as pending, and post subtasks under each main card. It is incredibly helpful.
What do you dislike about the product?
Collaboration is a bit clunky with Asana. And as for aesthetics (if that matters to you) there is not a whole lot you can do to customize or view files at a glance. I also find that the document (docs and files) section is not that great if you need to keep documents and images in an archival way.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
It makes project management for ongoing tasks more effective in that you can automate reoccurring to-do lists.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
If you have used Basecamp, this is very different! I would recommend trying it out before making the switch. It would be an easier transition from Trello. There are some fantastic features, but over all I don't think it is the best fit for complex projects.

Asana is easy to use for small businesses

  • July 06, 2017
  • Review verified by G2

What do you like best about the product?
The user interface is intuitive, projects are easy to track, reminder emails when I have tasks due, ability to discuss projects with others in my company
What do you dislike about the product?
I don't love the way subtasks are handled and usually simply end up making them individual tasks, which can be frustrating for a complicated project.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I use it primarily as an organizational tool, with the added benefit of being able to remind others in my organization when they have tasks due (or overdue).
Recommendations to others considering the product:
It's perfect for organizing a small number of employees and tasks - I'm not sure how it would hold up with a very large organization.

Asana keeps us organized!

  • July 04, 2017
  • Review verified by G2

What do you like best about the product?
My organization has been using Asana for a while now. I love the fact that I am able to log onto the dashboard and assign tasks to certain colleagues who are not a part of my sales department. This keeps us and our tasks organized.
What do you dislike about the product?
They don't have a desktop app. Everything always has to be done on a browser. I would like to be able to not have to be on the internet to assign a task to myself.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
This platform has great team capabilities . It is keeping my office sane and organized. Being able to assign tasks to specific team members is a great way to show who is responsible for what.

What do you like best about the product?
Awesome set of project management capabilities. Assigning tasks and track progress is very easy. User friendly. Clear interface.
What do you dislike about the product?
Hard to delete more than one task at once. Tasks have only due dates (no start dates).
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Project management with distributed teams. Tracking tasks.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
It's very easy to use. Awesome features. It pays to try the free version.
