Asana in the workplace

  • July 18, 2017
  • Review verified by G2

What do you like best about the product?
I liked how customizable the backgrounds were. I enjoy "pretty" and colorful things, as opposed to all the other dull monotone softwares I need to use everyday.
What do you dislike about the product?
I disliked the posting of tasks themselves. I wished there were more features or more options for longer projects.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We were trying to use the platform for team project management. While it worked for some tasks, it was confusing for more complex jobs.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Asana can be a low-cost (free) solution for a task management platform

Great task management for individuals and teams

  • July 18, 2017
  • Review verified by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Asana is very easy to use. You can create tasks in a matter of seconds from the browser or the mobile app. It is great for individual tasks as well as team collaboration. When working with other people, we always know what's going on by using due dates, task assignments, and commenting.
What do you dislike about the product?
The thing I like least about Asana, which really isn't that big of a deal, would probably be the list view of the tasks. You can sort it by date, but tasks without a date automatically get lumped into the New Tasks or Today sections and then if you sort them, tasks go down into the Later section and the default is that those tasks are not expanded. Just seems like it would be easier if you sorted by like Date Added or Due Date and didn't even have the other sections. Not sure, I'm sure they put a lot of thought into it and how users respond. Perhaps I'm just not seeing the proper way to utilize that feature.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I have multiple teams. I love that I can create tasks for myself on the fly within one team, but then have tasks within another team that has a totally different set of people involved. It saves a lot of time and back and forth via email by just keeping things within Asana.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
So far I've been enjoying the task features that Asana brings. I continue to use it more and learn new ways to make it effective for my business.

Fun and intuitive UI that allows for veep breakdown of any work-related task.

  • July 18, 2017
  • Review verified by G2

What do you like best about the product?
How many sub categories you can create for each task, which allows you assign work for every specific detail.
What do you dislike about the product?
The different teams become confusing when you are part of a large number of them.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Assigning tasks to people and because it includes date to be finished, it helps with oversight of the people doing those tasks.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Right off the bat, it has a free version, so you can use it without losing anything but time. The UI is very straight forward and allows you to make an account and get right to working.

Organization for the easily-distracted

  • July 18, 2017
  • Review verified by G2

What do you like best about the product?
If you desk is as messy as mine, people might doubt your ability to organize a project. Shred the haters with your perfectly organized projects in Asana, where even the Tasmanian Devil can look like a champion. Do you know what a Kanban board is? Well, you will. Do you like happy little congratulatory creatures jumping across your screen? Of course you do.
What do you dislike about the product?
It would be great if a task could appear in multiple places or be tagged in a specific way. I sometimes lose track of tasks that get moved to the engineering queue from the project queue or I think something has been taken care of because I forget to check multiple places.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Streamlined workflow and organizational transparency have been a big boon. Everyone can see who pushed a timeline back (nice try!) or who is responsible for a various project. There aren't any lingering action items because assigning tasks has been integrated into the workflow.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Worth it

  • July 17, 2017
  • Review verified by G2

What do you like best about the product?
I love the UI. Its so simple and clean and intuitive.
What do you dislike about the product?
I dislike the limited functionality for date dependencies within the free version. Its really hard to have automatically syncing dates without this feature.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Marketing/Creative project management efficiencies and content trackers. We can store historical creative within Asana and stay on top of our deadlines.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Great tool, especially for groups that want a lot of customization. I LOVE the interface and think its really clean and easy to use. Its great for reporting out and tracking team progress on projects. We have also found it very useful for event planning.

Asana--how I am getting things done

  • July 16, 2017
  • Review verified by G2

What do you like best about the product?
I most appreciate the summary of ALL my tasks in one place, broken out by Project and other factors I can control. Whether I am using a List view or a Kanban (board) view, the tasks and Subtasks (and sub-subtasks) all appear in one spot, when I can actually act on them. I can work from that list, or go to the project and work on the task there.
What do you dislike about the product?
I can't switch from List view to Board view--once the project is set up at the beginning, it remains in the view you selected.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I am a Principal consultant with obligations and project work at multiple clients at the same time, and input/tasks/communication arriving on client-based email systems. I use another tool to gain singular access to all those email accounts, and Asana pulls all of my task-based work into ONE place for summary and activity. I also have back-office obligations, writing white papers and case studies, plus coordinating and delivering training. The back office is on Asana, and we use this tool to manage content creation and updates. I also use it to manage and control my OWN life, and all of my family are in Asana to coordinate our tasks and responsibilities.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Try it out with a few simple projects
Review YouTube for some advice on how others have used it--lots of great ideas out there

Excellent Project and Task Management Software

  • July 15, 2017
  • Review verified by G2

What do you like best about the product?
I really like that Asana's free version still has several essential features for effective project management like creating tasks, establishing timelines, sharing files, and tracking progress. Its ability to integrate with other software is also very helpful.
What do you dislike about the product?
I'm a huge fan of Evernote for many reasons, but particularly the ability to work offline via its desktop app and also having sync data between devices. I wish Asana had a desktop app for this purpose.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Normally I use Evernote for my task and project management. However, after giving Asana a shot, it helped me tremendously with finishing a final project. I was able to break my project down into manageable tasks, organize them by date, and track my progress to completion.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Try out the free version first - it has everything you need if, especially if you are a small organization.

What do you like best about the product?
Very nice and straightforward design. I like the dashboard with the progress of each project.
What do you dislike about the product?
Using is via Slack is painful. Other tools make it a lot easier to assign tasks and set calendar schedules, etc.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Global project management. Easy to present status of projects from the dashboard with graphics.
