Flexible features - maybe a little too flexible?

  • July 27, 2017

What do you like best about the product?
Low pricepoint! So many project management apps have a high price point and annual contracts - love the low barrier to entry with Asana.
What do you dislike about the product?
Asana prides itself in the blank slateness - you can do just about anything - but that's almost a problem. It's not really set up - out of the box - for any functions. The templates are getting closer to be more helpful but it still takes a lot of time thinking through your processes and if you have multiple teams or clients you have to get each project setup and communicated how to use it - it's not immediately intuitive so adoption has been difficult in our organization .
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Project management, client communication and document storage. Biggest benefits is moving out of email for communication that's project/program related.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
With a low cost, it's worth at least checking out to see if it wil fit your PM needs.

Stable, powerful, and fun to use - a complete project management solution

What do you like best about the product?
I like the option of using lists or cards, the speed of the application, the depth of organization I can go, and the ease of use. We invite our clients to their specific project and even they have no problem navigating it. Plus, it's awesome to see a Narwhal fly across your screen.
What do you dislike about the product?
Performance suffers when other large programs are running on the computer. I also can't insert code snippets. That would be a killer feature for us.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We have many clients who all have their own initiatives and scope of work. Asana allows us to manage all of that in one place. It makes it incredibly simple. It eliminates the need for bouncing around between tools. It's a communication, file storage, task list, and management tool all in one.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Give it a try. The application is actively being developed and it's a blast to use, not to mention extremely practical.

Asana is great for project management

  • July 25, 2017

What do you like best about the product?
I love the ability to outline a project and assign it to team members with a deadline, description and instructions attached. It is extremely helpful as I think through a project and to help delegate sections. I can stay up to date with where each team member is at on their section of the project. Asana can simultaneously help organize and motivate a team.
What do you dislike about the product?
If you don't stay on top of Asana or not all team members are on board with it, it can become overwhelming very quickly as tasks appear to not have been done or a project seems to be lagging even if it's moved forward. I recommend ensuring each team member is on board with Asana before implementing it for a project.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Asana helps keep me organized and assists with delegation when I know I will be out of the office or won't be able to meet with my team for a number of days. A project and communication can continue moving forward via Asana without having a long thread of emails or constantly needing to check in to see where things are at.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Meet with your team to discuss how you will use Asana before implementation.

Great starter solution for a free agile project management tool

What do you like best about the product?
Asana's great for creating a board for an individual project, and assigning a series of sub tasks (with their own assignee's, due dates, and attachments) within that project.
What do you dislike about the product?
If you take the time to learn the features and options of this project management software, there's nothing I've needed and not been able to do. My only gripe is that it's completely web based (i.e. no desktop app) so if you're trying to administrate projects on the move, the connection issue can be frustrating.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Asana has given our teams (particularly dev and content teams) much more structure. The production efficiencies of which, are especially noticeable during peak times.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Make sure everyone using this software is on the same page when it comes to setting up projects and creating new tasks. I'd also say that it's essential for all users to take responsibility for their own tasks and deadlines.

Simple yet usefull task manager

What do you like best about the product?
Free and simple management. Tag and color system is fun, easy to locate.
It has some event system, chat and file manager. For free you get all you need for starting new projects.
What do you dislike about the product?
It's a bit too simple in some cases. It lacks a graphical representation or priority selector.
Maybe a pro version has it but filtering by tags and special tags would be great.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Managing some future projects in game dev industry.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
If you need something simple for your projects get Asana.

Asana fills a roll, but isn't the perfect solution

  • July 25, 2017
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
We used Asana for our team to manage projects. It was the perfect fit at first when we were a small team, and we enjoyed the threaded projects and ease of use.
What do you dislike about the product?
As our team grew, we ran into limitations. The biggest annoyance was no native time tracking feature, which seemed to me to be a negative oversite.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We solved the business problem of keeping tasks organized for our team and clients.

Asana is great for project management

  • July 25, 2017
  • Review verified by G2

What do you like best about the product?
I like that I can break down tasks into projects and share them with the team. I've appreciated how intuitive it is to use for new users. It's been easy to add new team members and start working right away with them.
What do you dislike about the product?
I dislike that I can't delete old conversations, especially for projects. Creating sections is a little difficult because you have to do it with a colon.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
It provides my team a place to keep all of our tasks organized. It's been beneficial to use for to-do lists as well as to forecast.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Definitely worth a try over other project management software programs!

Great PM software

  • July 24, 2017
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Asana is Free to get started for upto 15 team members. It's great for a startup environment.
What do you dislike about the product?
To be a fully functional PM software, you probably want to use dependencies. Unfortunately this feature is only available in Premium version.

Also wish there was a tighter integration with Slack, so that there is only a single conversation tool in play. Currently you end up making comments on Asana, which leads to duplicate threads..
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
At some point in a every project, things become complicated, even if its just a team of 4.
Assigning tasks to people, and basic team hierarchy become necessary.

Asana is the product to use at this point.
