Love this for team work!

What do you like best about the product?
My team all works remotely from several different cities in Oregon, so we use Asana to coordinate our projects and assign tasks and subtasks to different people, as well as to track progress and have an overview of upcoming deadlines etc... Super handy tool!
What do you dislike about the product?
The boards have been difficult to implement, especially moving tasks from one board to the next along a linear path. Since we do a lot of writing and back editing and rewriting, our path is not always linear, so the boards don't necessarily make sense for our team. We just use the task list with subtasks.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
How to coordinate a team that is working remotely

Asana for the win!

  • October 04, 2017
  • Review verified by G2

What do you like best about the product?
I appreciate the robust features Asana offers - being able to tag and connect tasks as well as sync with Google Calendar is like magic!
What do you dislike about the product?
That I can't get everyone on board with me because it's not as easy as simply sending an email. I wouldn't say this is an Asana problem; it's just hard to get people to buy into things and invest the time to learn.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
It's really helpful to be able to link documents and calendar events together, as well as assign tasks and let people comment/have conversation about items. It's nice to move away from constant emails and give some responsibility directly to others that way.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Really commit a little time to figure out how to use it and it will get you off to a great start. Most of the annoyances come from not understanding how the flow works and then giving up.

Project Management Simplified

  • October 04, 2017
  • Review verified by G2

What do you like best about the product?
The easy-to-use interface. The ability to drag and drop kanban cards simplifies updating project statuses.
What do you dislike about the product?
I want to be able to send reminders to team members to update their statuses on a regular basis.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
As a continuous improvement leader in the company, I manage all projects throughout their life cycles. Being able to visually see progress (through Kanban cards for example) made by other members of the team has removed the need to have "update meetings" or fight for access (excel sheet nightmare!). It also simplifies assigning tasks, tracking ECD dates, trends in their progress and add sub-tasks.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
N/A

Easy task boarding

  • October 04, 2017
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Strong on visual display of tasks and status. Easy for teams to work keep up to date with.
What do you dislike about the product?
Yet another piece of software.... Asana does a good job sending updates via email but nonetheless you have to really work in the application to get full value. Also we use Slack for a lot project communication, and it can get confusing when folks put notes in Asana but not Slack or vice-versa.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We have multiple projects across buiness functions that require collaboration from various team members. We use Asana to keep everyone clear about deadlines and outstanding deliverables.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Asana was recommended by a team member so we did not compare to others. Time permitting I would invest the effort to integrate with your other communication tools.

Free tool good for helping unorganized teams

  • October 03, 2017
  • Review verified by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Task tagging, task assigning, check off graphics! "Assigned to me" feature
What do you dislike about the product?
Big learning curve, team slow to adopt; we've basically given up on this tool because it's more intrusive than it is helpful.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We were looking for a tool to help us manage workload across multiple team members and measure cycles. This was not achieved, partly because our full team did not adopt the tool, leaving the project management (PM) team to update everyone else's items. This clearly wouldn't work long term and felt intrusive to everybody.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Good tool; full team MUST adopt using it regularly and keeping it up to date or it becomes useless.

Free, robust project management

  • October 03, 2017
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
The fact that Asana is free is a huge plus for someone who does not need to manage projects continuously and yet still requires robust features. I love that it integrates with Instagantt (also for free). Previously, I was only able to find paid PM software that included the gantt charts.
What do you dislike about the product?
There really is nothing that I dislike about Asana.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Professional project management.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Definitely give it a try! Don't forget to connect Instagantt

Really simple project management

  • October 03, 2017
  • Review verified by G2

What do you like best about the product?
I like the task view since it shows in a calendar like format perfect for seeing what matters right now.
What do you dislike about the product?
I know this sounds to good, but I really don't dislike anything about Asana. I've been using it since 2013.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Project management is not easy when you're team is not in one place, so this works great for that.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Perfect for simple project management.

Asana Review

  • October 03, 2017
  • Review verified by G2

What do you like best about the product?
I like the visibility Asana gives you into what tasks are assigned to you, as well as the ability to create groups and see what tasks other people have outstanding.
What do you dislike about the product?
The task bar on the left hand of the screen can be a little busy and difficult to sift through.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Our finance team currently uses Asana to manage their tasks. As a member of the Business Intelligence team, they have added me to one of their groups to assign me tasks related to finance. This helps our two teams stay coordinated on what projects are outstanding with me and what I have already completed.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Asana is definitely worth a try. I don't see much differentiation from other tools such as Trello, however i think i certainly fills the need of tracking projects and tasks.

Easy to use and learn

  • October 03, 2017
  • Review verified by G2

What do you like best about the product?
I like this tool because it is easy to learn and can test it out with a free account up to 15 users. I like the look and feel of this, and since this is a web based tool, we don't really need to download anything extra on our PC to make it work.
What do you dislike about the product?
It can do the basic and simple stuff, but for more advance, it can still have some improvement.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We test this out to see if this is a good tool for project management, so that we can streamline our project much more efficiently.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
yes, I will recommend this to try out since it has free version

Good for managing large teams

  • October 03, 2017
  • Review verified by G2

What do you like best about the product?
I like the ability to give subtasks to each task and the fact that you can assign subtasks to different members of your team.
What do you dislike about the product?
I haven't found a way to assign points or values to a task. Maybe I am just missing it though?
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We use it to do project management within our company (most teams use it). Our marketing team specifically uses it for our scrum sprints.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
They do a really good job. I've used a few different project management software, and Asana is near the top for me.
