Easy app for organizing tasks!

  • January 22, 2018
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
I absolutely love how user friendly this program is. I keep a tab pinned for Asana and every day before starting my work, I check my task list. I can easily change the tasks or assign them to other co-workers. It is simple to use and easy to train others to use as well.
What do you dislike about the product?
I wish I could sync it with my Google calendar. It would be easier to manage tasks that way. I'm always juggling back and forth to make sure I'm keeping up with upcoming meetings and events while also looking at my task list on Asana. Asana's calendar is alright but I like how I can connect my Google calendar with my phone and be alerted (and have all of my co-workers who are not apart of Asana alerted as well).
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Time management has improved for everyone using Asana. It's easy to get them assigned and given a deadline to complete the tasks. Since the program priorities your deadlines for you, it's easy to organize the day.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
If you want to use it for your own organization and time management, great! I would say that it is better if you are apart of a team and wish to keep delegated tasks organized. It's helpful when the whole team is on the same program, but not necessary. It works for personal or team use. Easy way to keep up with all of your tasks!

Effective Planning App

  • January 20, 2018
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Asana is like its name. Asana, which means 'EASY" in Hindi ....! It makes planning a breeze and very convenient. Sharing the plans is also very easy.
Reminders, setting timelines, wow, just love it.... and it is free. Attachments, timelines, calendar, to do list, collaboration, all in one place. And that makes it very special. I have been using this app for more than two years now. And, it is very awesome. Syncing calendar with other apps like google calendar is also very easy. You have everything in one place. No matter how many projects you working on, asana can handle all. And, its totally free to use.
What do you dislike about the product?
Interface is bit less customizable for me. it should have more customizing options. I would have loved that. it feels monotonic sometimes. More colours, more backgrounds will make it very fun to use. More themes should be added to the app. interface could have been bit better But, nevertheless, the features it provide are quite powerful to use.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Well, planning and sharing has become very easy. and we make sure we are on same page everytime, when we plan and execute. To Do list is very helpful and new calendar feature is quite advanced from other calendar apps. Attachments can be added with ease and different projects can be handled at same time. Timelines can be made. It help us in collaborating in very easy way.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
You should definately give it a try.

Asana is very helpful at team collaboration and organising your own tasks.

What do you like best about the product?
Easy, quick to setup, whether you have a large or smaller team. Asana can be very flexible, (pro version) you can organise and help your team managing tasks, workflows and set up re-curring tasks.. Very responsive tool to collaborate, upload docs to a task and add sub tasks, assign, comment etc. I also like seeing the tasks regrouped in one single page, so I know what needs my attention. Useful for coordinating and assign tasks to team members (pro version) whilst keeping an eye on them. I like that you can switch the feature "Remind me to update the status every Friday" on.
What do you dislike about the product?
There is a few things I dislike - on Free version they advertise "Unlimited tasks, projects and conversations" you can assign it to others but you cannot review it after - as "Tasks I've Assigned to Others" are only available when paying for premium version. They should allow you to add at least one team member. Secondly, I'd like to see much better formatting options in the "description and comments boxes".
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I use it to track tasks and It has helped me stay organised and know what tasks i need to get done on a daily basis and keep my to do lists in one page.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Bear in mind I do like the tool, I think it has great features but also lack some vital ones. I.e: Sub- tasks labelling, chat during projects, and better Kanban boards...
You can use Asana for many things such campaign launches, team meetings and integrations, charts and more.
With that in mind I think Asana should not be called a complete project management tool. Asana can and will help you collaborate with your team and others to assign primary tasks but soon will become complicate if you are looking to add many hundred sub-tasks to your project.
However,I would say this - it should be considered one of the best collaboration and productivity apps in the market. I haven't followed them lately, so I don't know if they're looking to add new or improve existent features. Up to you to try it and see if the tool could be an ideal match for your business and/or team. Good luck!

Great when I remember to use it

  • January 18, 2018
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
I like that you can set up and visualize tasks and deadlines in several formats - calendar view, task list, and upcoming. I also appreciate that you can assign tasks to others, or request review.
What do you dislike about the product?
This is one of the least intuitive platforms I have used in awhile -I needed tutorial videos to be able to figure out features and truly utilize the platform.

I also dislike that it allows you to create tasks/ email yourself tasks without a deadline- which end up just sitting at the top of "My Tasks" and cluttering the workspace.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
As an employee in a small business that wears many hats, I love that I can track multiple tasks and projects across several spaces

- Able to assign tasks to teammates and get reviews from my boss without bothering them - it shows up automatically in their task list
- Can ask questions about assignments directly without having to send an email
- Able to visualize my tasks and can view upcoming tasks - so I can ignore projects that are far away without forgetting about them
- Project calendar view allows us to see the big picture and plan key deliverables
- Automatic project tracking
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Make sure to watch tutorials to really get the full value

Great Platform for Remote Teams

  • January 17, 2018
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
I really appreciate that Asana has a great mobile app, which is convenient for individuals who aren't glued to their desk. The team calendar feature is also great to see what everyone is working on and when tasks are due. Being able to create a list of tasks, then go into a staff meeting and seamlessly assign everything out is also super helpful. I also get great value out of being able to add sections within a project (instead of having to make multiple projects to segment out tasks that are related to each other). Overall a great platform for managing multiple projects and action items going on at once.
What do you dislike about the product?
There isn't too much I don't like about Asana to be honest. The only thing that immediately comes to mind is that all of the layers can sometimes be confusing (workspaces, projects, tasks, subtasks, comments, etc.).
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I work with a remote team so having the ability to easily see what everyone's working on at any moment is crucial. It's also helpful to work through Asana when assigning out tasks, adding clarity, and passing along documents versus going back and forth with emails/calls. This was our first year using Asana and I see it being beneficial for many years to come.

When you need more than a To Do list

  • January 17, 2018
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Asana is very easy to set up and provides lots of support. The amount of things that can be stored in Asana - attachments, images, pdfs, convos is really helpful. I use it for personal use and my company has adopted it for project management across departments.
What do you dislike about the product?
Images, pdfs, content within a convo require you to log into Asana to download which can be time consuming. Also, while it is easy to use, getting team members who have never used a project management system to adopt Asana is ... challenging.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Heavier to-do lists and complicated projects across departments were out-growing the traditional inbox and to-do lists that we used previously.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Take advantage of support. Don't worry about getting it "perfect" when setting up as it is easy to change/adapt to needs. Let team members use on their own(personal project management/to-do lists) at first to get comfortable in the product.

Great for team assignments

  • January 13, 2018
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
I don't like reminders and to do list, but Asana is simple and easy to use. It's great for teams because you can simply assign each person their duties and use Asana as a means of keeping track on progress.
What do you dislike about the product?
The biggest downfall can be the learning curve. Asana is a powerful tool and it can be somewhat intimidating.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Again, keeping a team on task. With a blog a run, someone edits photos, someone writes the recipe, someone schedules the post, and so on. Asana helps to keep us on task and let us know when to move forward with the next task.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Again, it can be difficult to learn if you go all in. If you're just looking for a simple way to keep your team on track, it's great.

Great project managent tool

  • January 11, 2018
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Easy to use, very graphical. Great for organization and teams. Great easy conversations, file attachments, and calendars for teams to share information easily, effectively, and naturally. Most teams can use the free version with no problems! Able to upload files just by copy and paste. Very easy to move items around to rearrange or organize things. Can see the full history of how things take place to keep track, incase it becomes he said, she said.
What do you dislike about the product?
Takes a little bit to learn and figure out their terminology and how things work. Some extra features require a paid upgrade, but usually not an issue for larger organizations, but small companies or teams may be an issue.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
working with teams and management. No need to keep emailing the same or updated document back and forth, easy to add a new member to the team to provide them access to all of the materials.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Open a user account to give the software a try and learn how it works by playing around with a sample project or 2 to discover how it works. It takes a little bit to understand what types of organizers and items you can add to a project. Sharing is great and quick and conversations are natural like normal texting or emailing.

Dynamic to-do list

  • January 11, 2018
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Pros:
- you can have conversations within asana's tasks and the thread will go in your email inbox as well. fast replies through email
- can organize and collaborate efficiently, especially if there are a lot of steps to a project or reoccurring projects.
What do you dislike about the product?
Cons:
- when you're on your calendar view, any click you make creates a new task. it gets in the way of scrolling or checking dates.
- it's not apparent when a new feature is locked behind premium membership. asana should be more transparent.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
- collaboration & organization
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Asana is great for collaborating with team members on multiple types of projects and seeing the progress you make on them.

Keeps us organized

  • January 11, 2018
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
The calendar view is really easy to see and keep track of your projects. You can also drag and drop tasks to easily change their due dates. I often assign due dates to keep projects easily in my calendar view and move them around as necessary.

It's also very simple to use subtasks to keep all the little pieces of a project in one place while assigning them to the right members of your team.
What do you dislike about the product?
It logs you out a lot. I appreciate security, but would prefer not to have to log in every day, and sometimes multiple times. Would also like the ability to assign tasks to more than one person to help projects with multiple leaders keep up to date.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Our remote team uses Asana to track and work on all of our projects. It's helped us more easily communcate project needs and keep our team members up to date on what we're working on. Information on projects is much easier to find when you know it's all in the same place.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
It's worth the effort to switch from your current system. Task tracking is much more visual and easier to keep track of.
