Logic Monitor
What do you like best about the product?
I had a project where I was reviewing all of our clients to ensure the devices we are servicing are being monitored in LogicMonitor. The addition of devices was so smooth and easy I had very little issues getting the devices added. The training resources available through LogicMonitor are very helpful.
What do you dislike about the product?
Sometimes when a device is added in duplicate it can take a while for LogicMonitor to catch that, even when performing a search. This tripped a few alarms but I was able to resolve the situation quickly.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I have been ensuring our clients devices are being monitored and the alerts are set properly. I like that i can see the status using widgets in real time.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Utilize the tools on the LogicMonitor website. They make this very easy to learn.

One of the best most flexible monitoring solutions we have used
What do you like best about the product?
The flexibility of what can be monitored, how alerting is routed and the many, many options for dashboard widgets make for a a very customizable tool. LogicMonitor is continuously adding new datasources and is very responsive to requests for new items.
What do you dislike about the product?
The support team appears to be mostly in another geography so there is some lag in response to support requests.
The Windows Event Log alerting, although limited by what is available in Windows, tends to generate a significant amount of "noise" alerts making it a bit more difficult to see legitimate alerts in the midst of the large number of entries. We are working on tuning the process but it is a bit of an effort.

We are a manged services provider so need to monitor multiple customers' systems from various locations. We have implemented LogicMonitor to monitor and alert for all network, VMware and Citrix devices along with several "one-off" items. We are also able to create custom dashboards for customers where they can view status and metrics for their specific environment.
Great Cloud Based Monitoring Solution...
What do you like best about the product?
I really like the dashboard flexibility as some clients like certain data sets vs others. The security is very slick and allows us to create whatever level of access is required. The system sets up quick and is usually pretty painless to implement connectors and attached servers.
What do you dislike about the product?
For the most part the product handles what we need and does it well. Would like some wizards to recognize certain types of network equipment. Would also be very cool to have a pre-defined wizard to facilitate quicker creation of dashboards vs. the painstaking way to manually create them.
Would be also very cool to be able to clone a dashboard and have it automatically reconnect the sources to the new data source given they contain the same data points.

Providing application/system level monitoring for clients for Oracle hosted applications.
A Savior for Managed Service Providers
What do you like best about the product?
The ability to implement a system that allows a single pane of glass for our NOC. With the dashboards there isn't much searching that is needed to find what places are having issues. On top of that, when a new customer comes on, the deployment is a much easier process. In the past with other monitoring systems we had to setup VPN tunnels and jump through hoops to make sure we could properly monitor a customers systems.
What do you dislike about the product?
Since this isn't an agent based monitoring system, there are times where we get gaps in the data due to issues that are out of our control. This overall is not a big issue.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
A single pane of glass for our NOC to be able to look at for all of our customers.
Excellent monitoring tool
What do you like best about the product?
I like the flexibility provided by this agent-less tool. You can easily monitor almost any device and even many applications.
What do you dislike about the product?
The REST API should be more full-featured and there seems to be a lack of expertise in the support team. Getting an issue resolved or a question answered can take days (or longer).
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Thorough monitoring over a large customer base.
Nice!
What do you like best about the product?
Easy to learn yet powerful under the skin. LogicMonitor really is both for the lazy sysadmin and the Powershell God alike.
What do you dislike about the product?
Its not free. However, you do get awesome support and people who really do seem to care about your deployment.
One huge problem I have with LogicMonitor: once all the other departments saw what we were doing they want their own dashboards, screens, modules, etc. I could hire a Jr. Admin to just do that! We have had to put them off, but they won't be denied forever. I'm going to be creating a whole mess of dashboards!

Initially it was just for a NOC environment. Now the marketing team wants their own and of course the execs want to know what product is moving and whats the best margin products.
LogicMonitor can do everything you want it to do and more you haven't thought of.

Recommendations to others considering the product:
Just try it out. We have a limited device deployment right now, but as other departments are seeing what we are doing with it, the more they want dashboards made. At this point all we can say is "Its gonna cost your budget, not ours" because we can't monitor any more devices. However, once we spring for the right sized package for our environment, folks will be happy with what LogicMonitor can do.
Glad we selected LogicMonitor
What do you like best about the product?
The simplicity of deployment and time to value. Also the support has been very good as well. I also like the mobile app. Hard to make everything available with such a small amount of real estate on a phone, but the power of what is displayed is very nice. The ability to customize the app and monitor through non-traditional methods is great (not just SNMP, WMI, etc...). Also, the extensible schema allows for data enrichment and the extensibility of functionality and integration with other applications.
What do you dislike about the product?
The new GUI is just "ok". Granted, there's a ton of powerful things you can get out of it. Still easier to navigate than most. More log collection and analytics would be nice.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Managing multiple client environments with a variety of notification and escalation paths and choices is very powerful.
Monitoring does not get any easier then this
What do you like best about the product?
Ease of use and setup. Almost no manual configuration.
What do you dislike about the product?
Alerting can be cumbersome to figure out.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Had zero insight into the our environment. No single place to go to figure out what was causing issues or to see if it was running right. After I get Logic Monitor installed the default metrics and alerts gave me a hit list of what to fix.
Efficient monitoring
What do you like best about the product?
Monitoring of all types. Easy to monitor performance graphs based on roles.
What do you dislike about the product?
Complex UI for new users.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
performance management
Monitor ALL THE THINGS!
What do you like best about the product?
Everything, the product is great and support is great. It really is the whole package.
What do you dislike about the product?
The new UI, but they are still working on it.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Monitoring. Issues with monitoring and the constant upkeep of monitoring was made easy when we switched over to Logicmonitor.
