Reduces the SOC 2 project management workload significantly
What do you like best about the product?
A lot of the admin work involved with SOC 2 is related to project management, and Vanta helps to lighten that workload significantly. Automated monitoring and coverage of a lot of controls, along with its customizable infosec policy templates, helps us to achieve and maintain compliance faster and with less manual work.
What do you dislike about the product?
The product is pretty solid but there's still room for improvement. For example, some functionality could still be built out a little better to allow for greater flexibility to deal with non-standard environments.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
The help us with our SOC 2 audit readiness project, as well as to monitor ongoing maintenance of SOC 2-related controls. Vanta has helped to cut out a lot of manual work we would have to do with it.
Great tool for capturing all SOC compliance issues
What do you like best about the product?
Very easy tracking/maintenance of compliance needs. It is removing lots of work from my plate in generating ongoing screenshots and other documentation for our auditors.
What do you dislike about the product?
- Not great tools for batch updating or batch emailing users.
- It's not (yet) clear that it has all the necessary hooks to completely subsume all my audit-prep needs.

What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We are using Vanta to prepare for and maintain our SOC2 compliance. It has already saved me loads of time with the pre-formatted policies, monitoring, and tracking of the vast majority of my SOC2 needs.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
For any company working on their SOC2 compliance, it's a no-brainer purchase.

I think Vanta is doing great the only think I may complain is we need more batch update options since we have to update items (owner, i.e., ) one by one

I like the UI; it's a very clean platform that makes tracking our team's various security controls much easier.
What do you dislike about the product?
It would be great for more policy templates to be provided and for alerts to be sent out.

I want to be able to easily use Vanta for any security audit, not just SOC2. However I have realized that with some effort it can work well for any audit.

Out of the box policies were a little too corporate for our use. They were a good basis to build and soften our policies.
Early adopter meant that not every integration we used was covered at the time.

If the integrations cover your needs, it makes SOC2 certification so much easier.

Their team is knowledgable in both soc 2 practices and their actual tool, making them very valuable and helpful. The tool is awesome and simple. I like the weekly updates as well.
It's great that they also have partnerships with auditors, so we don't have to do the extra work to find one and build that relationship. We trust their audit partners.

Not much! Would be nice if it already has reports from 3rd party tools. Would also be cool to edit template for processes right in tool rather than download.

Soc 2 and overall security compliance. Organization of the documents for these was always a headache, which make vanta so great to use, and finding templates for all these docs was always a trouble. But vanta provides exactly what we need.

Recommendations to others considering the product:
Definitely schedule time on your calendar as you will need to check in weekly or bi weekly but it doesn't take long and is super easy to use. Their training is very helpful too, so definitely schedule it.
Great tool, with even better customer support
What do you like best about the product?
Customer support is great - fast, responsive, and consistent. The product itself is becoming pretty integral to our employee onboarding and offboarding, as well as (of course) our SOC 2 compliance (the main thing we use it for). The task checklist is a really helpful tool to keep tabs on where we need to make additional investments in data security and privacy.
What do you dislike about the product?
Integrations and product support for GCP customers were less robust than for AWS customers in the beginning, but they've been steadily adding features to get to feature parity for GCP customers. I'm not sure they're quite there yet, but it definitely feels closer now.
A few of the task-tracking statuses show incorrect data every now and then. I'm guessing this is because it only syncs with our services periodically, but some tasks can remain out-of-sync for a couple days before they reflect changes we've already made to address the issues originally raised.

SOC 2 compliance is much easier to track with Vanta. There's still a lot of manual process involved, but Vanta is eliminating those exceptions every day.

Some of the nitty gritty history takes a little longer to get to (accessibility) but that's improving.

Vanta is willing to be hands on and spend time with you to get it right. That is valuable, so use it.

We used Vanta to streamline our security practices. The dashboard allows us to maintain company wide security policies that keep everyone safe.

Make sure to have in depth knowledge of your own architecture as that is the one piece you need to own as a company.

What do you like best about the product?
Vanta allows us to build living policies and be alerted to non-compliance which also makes it easy for us to export out those policies for MSAs with clients.

Vanta is in its early stages, some of the usability does not lend itself to large bulk actions or organization.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Vanta has saved us time and effort in identifying gaps in our security compliance, MFA, device encryption etc...

Recommendations to others considering the product:
For all of the shortcomings in the product, the team at Vanta is SUPER responsive and actively seeks feedback. Many of the issues ranging from bugs to product enhancements have already been addressed, often immediately after we have spoken with them. For that reason alone I would recommend Vanta.
