Well designed API Testing Tool

  • November 10, 2020
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
The best part of Postman tool is it creates a setup like the actual environment, so we can try a variety of test cases through it to analyse the overall functioning of API. We can use all types of API options like POST/PUT/GET/DELETE with either HTTP or HTTPS protocols. We can send and receive data in XML or JSON.
What do you dislike about the product?
It is a heavy software, so it usually takes time to start. Also, this is not for beginners those who do not have much knowledge of API's functioning and testing.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We use this tool to test RESTful API's which we have created for different services of our project. Postman let us try these API's as it was used in the actual environment.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
If you are an experienced developer or tester looking for an API's management and creation tool, Postman is a good choice. You can use to verify your test cases created for the API with ease. Postman has all features to test an API like the actual environment.

A Great Way to Test Your APIs

  • November 08, 2020
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
I love how easy it is to create API calls and then organize them around your project. Postman can especially useful when you are testing across a variety of environments. I love that you can build around these environments and have different variables to fill in depending on which you are using.
What do you dislike about the product?
If you're not paying for it, the only good way to share data with your team is by downloading and sending files. Still, not bad at all for a free platform. I haven't used lots of the features they have like the collection Runner, so there are still things for me to discover.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I use postman to test every API I create. As someone who primarily works on the backend, I love being able to work directly with my APIs and know that they are working as intended. It is also a great way to test third part APIs that you might be interested in using.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Set up environments so that you can use your collections across all your deployments, and take the time to organize your collections in a clear way.

Postman is the best tool for testing and validating APIs

  • November 06, 2020
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
The single best feature for me is that the free version does everything I need as a developer. It allows me to easily generate test data to send to my own APIs for testing, allows me to easily make test requests to other APIs, and allows multiple easily configured environments for those tests. It also allows you to automatically run tests (some limitations here on the free version, but more than enough capability in my experience) that you've written. Postman also works with GraphQL, which is just a nice feature that isn't necessarily something everyone will need or use. I also feel like Postman has a wide variety of users, so it is often easy to find other use cases similar to what you need if you are unable to figure something out yourself.
What do you dislike about the product?
The free version has some severe limitations in weird places, while being perfect in other limitations. An example is the number of calls that can be registered in a team workspace, 25 is just too low for a team of any size. This is one of those places where I feel like Postman really missed with the free version, because 90% of the rest of the free version limitations are all what I would consider reasonable and usable as is. And certainly if you exceed those other limitations, you should probably upgrade to a paid plan and support them, but in this case, 25 for a team is just too low in my opinion. It makes the team workspace almost not worth using unless you have a team of only 2 and a very limited API. The only other big negative is that you are more likely to find answers outside of Postman's official documentation and support pages than you are within their own documentation.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I have used Postman in the past to test calls to API endpoints I'm building integrations. It not only helps to validate the url structure for https requests, but also lets you check out any issues with responses that you might be getting in an easier format. The main thing I currently use Postman for is to generate fake on-site event tracking data for my testing site as well as verifying the responses from my system.

What do you like best about the product?
Postman is a great API testing tool. Some of the feature that I like the most are -

1. You can login to your Postman account from any device and sync your data.
2. Ease of importing and exporting API collections
3. Interactive UI with dark and light mode theme.
What do you dislike about the product?
I am not facing any issues with postman, there is just one thing which I wish was available in Postman.

1. A user can not test multiple APIs at the same time.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
1. My team uses Postman to test APIs on the sandbox servers (testing) and the production servers.

2. It is easy to create test cases for testing.

3. The complete API data can be checked on postman only, no need to use JSON beautifiers.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Postman is the best software for API testing. I've been working on API testing for the last 2 years and I have not seen any other competitor of this application.
The best part is it is a free open source software.
