Powerful product analytics for digging in or telling the larger story through data

  • May 30, 2019
  • Review verified by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Amplitude can help you cut your data in a lot of ways but it doesn't feel immensely overwhelming (i mean this as a positive). All powerful data products for business have a learning curve. I also like how Amplitude has focused on helping you tell a story with your data via their Notebook ability.
What do you dislike about the product?
Mainly that its capabilities are so immense that you have to spend time practicing and playing with data. It isn't so relevant when not your data because you don't care. So the best way to learn is having real questions.

You also will need to know your event schema and that's always hard when you aren't helping to define it and joining and existing team. Not Amplitude's fault however.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Understanding how users move through a product. How many activate or do a behavior. What segment does a given behavior of interest. From digging into one user to troubleshoot to telling a story with analytic visuals and commentary.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
You have to try it to see if it will work for you. It's very powerful but like all tools that require investment in setup you really need to be thoughtful about maintaining the events become the inputs to know what's going on with your users in your product!

Amplitude is key for us to measure the effectiveness of our product

  • April 20, 2019
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
The charting and graphing capabilities of Amplitude are fantastic. I never feel as though I don't have the visualization that I need. The cohort capabilities are helpful because I can upload a CSV or do a cohort based on the product data that we have. The dashboards available make it easy to organize our charts. It also helps that "saving over" what someone else has done is near impossible.
What do you dislike about the product?
I wish the color customization was something that either they had or was easier.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We need Amplitude to determine the product retention we have as well as do testing to see if changes or experiments are working. The data is huge in eliminating the assumptions that generally come with product decisions.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Amplitude is the best product I have used for software product specific reporting. If your team has set up your events in the proper way then there is a ton data you can uncover. Sometimes there are things within the tool that I didn't know existed and they end up providing us with the insight we wouldn't otherwise have. This just allows us to serve our customers and users better because we know what they want and use.

This is the best analytics software our team ever could've imagined

  • Review verified by G2

What do you like best about the product?
It's easy to create, share, edit, and sort charts. I've never found myself wanting a feature that isn't there already - it's an amazingly well-built product.
What do you dislike about the product?
No complaints on my end. Every time I've been wondering about something, support team has been responsive and solved all complaints.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Amplitude helps our company track all of our vital KPIs.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
When it comes to mobile app analytics, this is the best product in the game. Amazing features and excellent support.

What do you like best about the product?
Everything: cool customization, nice interface, easy setup
What do you dislike about the product?
1) Very expensive premium plans;
2) I can't make funnels like "see picture -> like picture" broken down by picture_id present as a parameter in both events
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Advanced features analysis. The main benefit is that Amplitude works much faster then its competitors and in most cases has better customization

What do you like best about the product?
Very generous free tier. Nice chart design. A lot of ways and tools to analyze the data I get. Ability to track individual users separately and see their paths.
What do you dislike about the product?
Complicated to setup (have to have some programming skills even to track even page views correctly. A bit unintuitive interface
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Analyzing and optimizing funnel (including AB tests), tracking retention, analyzing channels of traffic and it's profitability.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
If you have a developer in your team and some time to get used to the interface, it will definitely worth it!

Amplitude - best in class user centric analytics

  • December 18, 2018
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Where do I start? I've been through KISSmetrics and Mixpanel in the last 5 years, and Amplitude is hands down the leader in the space. The base UI for modeling and displaying data is great, you can pull people from throughout the organization into Amplitude and it will not be confusing for them. Best in class retention metrics too, tell Amplitude what 'winning' looks like, and it will tell you what types of customers fit that model.

They have a very generous free product, give it a try. If you are starting out, I would recommend integrating Amplitude through Segment.
What do you dislike about the product?
Hard to find a dislike here. It's possible to get lost in some of the deeper functionality. But overall, it's great.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Wanted one central, events based analytical tool that can measure our customer journey from end to end.

    Computer Software

Great tool. But hard to keep engagement

  • November 24, 2018
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
I like how it is able to give high level metrics. It provides details on number of users using the software, how often they have clicked etc. And that helps me provide stats to my stakeholders on the product usage. Qualtrics surveys needed to understand what features were driving usage and therefore retention and what they could do to improve it. An in-house built solution could not deliver on providing these insights. Amplitude was very helpful to get these insights for my team and I. I understand what makes users tick, and am able to rapidly release better product experiences.
What do you dislike about the product?
I have two issues.
1. It does not get granular enough. Does not show me the deep dive metrics that I can see to understand the why.
2. It is not engaging. It should have a better way to let me know when there are anomalies in my data.
3. While the pre-built reports are super useful in helping teams produce the industry-standard types of reports on engagements and funnel analysis, the process of customizing a view feels rather confusing.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I use this to understand how often a product is used, the type of users and customers using the product and what features are not used as much as expected. That allows me to prioritize on the product roadmap.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Great software. Try it out!

Amplitude makes data analytics simple to pull for non-technical people

  • October 25, 2018
  • Review verified by G2

What do you like best about the product?
I love that the software feels approachable for people who don't have previous experience doing data analytics. As a product manager, using data to make decisions is increasingly important and often times, learning this new skill can be intimidating. I appreciate that Amplitude feels like a tool that non-analysts can understand.
What do you dislike about the product?
While the pre-built reports are super useful in helping teams produce the industry-standard types of reports on engagements and funnel analysis, the process of customizing a view feels rather confusing. I appreciate the help text in the info bubbles and the pages with definitions but I wish there were training videos I could access online to help with customization.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We are solving the problem of understanding what our customers want to use our app for and how we can drive more meaningful engagement.

One of the Best Solutions for E-Comm - Best in class Product Analytics

  • September 02, 2018
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
ROI accomplishments would not have been achieved as quickly (or at all) without this product. It allows me to drill down to a product ROI and ad cost for programs across more granularly-focussed marketing channels across web and mobile! So instead of looking at ROI for search, I can more easily drill down to ad cost for target markets and optimize product offerings, marketing, messaging, etc. to continue to make significant efficiency improvements. Before, I would use my own methodologies and Excel spreadsheets which I still refer to, but this platform has given me new ideas in an easy to use interface with the benefit of speed and efficiency gains by taking out my personal admin/setup activities for running my own basic spreadsheet analytics.
What do you dislike about the product?
I wish I had this product 5 years ago. Standard analytics is great and I prefer to have multiple platforms to compare analytics methodology for standard metrics since variations sometimes help us to gain insight into our own KPIs and it's always good to be able to speak to the differences between more niche analytics platforms like Amplitude vs. let's say GA, etc.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Currently looking at how to make mobile e-commerce more efficient and targeted to boost ROI there. So far the focus has been on online and the basics, but mobile and tablet are a big push for clients as well as my small business and there are a lot of areas for creating niche markets using a combination of mobile analytics and customer analysis and it's exciting to find these untapped opportunities to incrementally improve ROI.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
This is a great platform for those interested in a tool that integrates mobile analytics and dives into measuring things that are product analytics specific to remain competitive.
