Amplitude Analytics - Powerful but also not User-Friendly

  • September 22, 2025
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
The power and depth of insights we get from amplitude is incredible -- not only does it meet our needs now but it will continue to do so in the future. I also love that we get guides, surveys and A/B testing all in one platform.
What do you dislike about the product?
It has a steep learning curve and some of the UX is confusing.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Understand our customer base and their usage of our product -- helping our customer success team with renewals and lagging usage and helping our product team prioritize features that actually are being used, not just complaints or suggestions that customers have.

Goodbye Google, Ta-ta Tableau!

  • September 22, 2025
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
There's no issue with data sampling or black-box machine learning models that "estimate" your user counts (looking at you Google Analytics 4!). You also don't need a license to look at or subscribe to charts (looking at you Tableau!). I also appreciate the active Slack community and workshops (looking again at you, Google!).
What do you dislike about the product?
It's a bit more tailored for product analytics (e.g., apps) than website analytics, and I'd appreciate some more customizations (colors, themes, etc.).
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
It solves the problem of Google Analytics, which is just awful with version 4.

Amplitude allows us to self-serve and democratize data questions and analysis across the org.

What do you dislike about the product?
The AI features are not at the level to be very useful yet.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Helps answering product questions.
Allows me to quickly create and share dashboards and analyses to track product performance

Rich and helpful reporting for marketing teams

  • September 19, 2025
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Product usage and conversion-related analytics and reports that are very helpful for understanding what tactics work and what do not; so, needless to say we used Amplitude very often. It may require some getting used to in the beginning, though.
What do you dislike about the product?
In a few occasions, the data in reports generated by Amplitude didn't seem to be correct, so some help from the customer support team was needed. they have helped with every request, of course.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Learning more about user conversion statistics, marketing performance—we could get very specific data by generating own reports.

Efficient Analytics Tool with Setup Ease but Documentation Challenges

  • September 19, 2025
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
I appreciate how easy Amplitude Analytics was to set up. I find the live debugging and Chrome extension features particularly useful, allowing me to track and understand user engagement effectively. I also value the user-friendly tools on the dashboard, which enhance the overall ease of use.
What do you dislike about the product?
I find the help documentation and the naming of properties and classes really bad. These issues almost made us waste a lot of unnecessary time. Both developers I worked with were confused due to some pretty bad naming choices in there.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I use Amplitude to track user actions, helping us understand which pages lead to conversions and where to focus marketing resources, addressing our lack of tracking capabilities.

A very customisable and easy to use data analytics platform

  • September 19, 2025
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
The speed at which you can make dashboards.
The customisability of dashboards.
The ability to see user drop-offs at different stages in the funnel.
UI is great.
I use it once a week atleast.
What do you dislike about the product?
It takes some time to learn and get used to it, but it's easy once you get used to it. So implementation takes some time.
Dont know about customer support.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Helps us understand the product usage and analytics to understand interacton, activation of use and dormancy for certain features.Specifically for tracking adoption for features like sms, calling, AI voice agent calling, integrations.
At every step of a feature's actoivation journey, we are able to map user behaviour.

Usecase of amplitude

  • September 18, 2025
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
It is in general easy to use especially the UI is very clean
Ease of integration with the backend is quite good and easy as well
What do you dislike about the product?
Features are kind of not straight forward, like I wanted to search old events (and see their content and fields), I still do not know where to find those, so to test I went to the live events page and then triggered the event everytime
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
It helps us tracking the user event from the frontend side, which includes user clicks to understand the user behaviour and interactions
From the Backend (my work) mostly we send segment events to track analytics like payments/subscriptions. For eg we released a new company cancel faeture and tracked how it performed via the graphs and dashboard we created on Amplitude and was it above our expected level else we might think about rolling back that feature.
In other words it also helps us track feature engagement and to know if the feeature is performing good or not.

My Honest Take on Amplitude (From a Marketer)

  • September 17, 2025
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
You can see the whole story. I don't just see that a user landed on our blog. I can see they came from a Facebook ad, read two articles, then signed up for our newsletter. It connects the dots in a way Google Analytics can't.

Funnels are dead simple. We were losing people during our signup process. Amplitude made it painfully obvious where the drop-off was. We fixed one form field, and our conversion rate went up. It pays for itself with insights like that.

You can prove your marketing works. I can finally create a group of all the users who came from my September campaign and see if they actually became active, long-term users. It's a game-changer for showing the real value of my ad spend.
What do you dislike about the product?
The setup is a headache. Don't even think about doing it yourself unless you're technical. You need a developer and a clear plan for what to track. If you mess this up, your data is not good.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I can finally create a group of all the users who came from my September campaign and see if they actually became active, long-term users. It's a game-changer for showing the real value of my ad spend.

Powerful analytics with room for UI and documentation improvements

  • September 13, 2025
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Amplitude provides a robust set of features that are essential for customer success, PLG tracking, and data-driven product decisions. I especially like the ability to create custom charts and run in-depth analyses, which I’ve found to be among the best in the market. The integrations with platforms like Segment are smooth and well-documented, making it easier to fit Amplitude into our existing stack. These capabilities allow us to double down on what customers love while identifying areas for product improvement.
What do you dislike about the product?
The sidebar navigation isn’t very intuitive, the hamburger menu hides key features, and it can be difficult to quickly access live or recent data compared to tools like Datadog. A “quick actions” section would make exploration much faster. While documentation is helpful, it could be enhanced with more video demos or SDK tooling walkthroughs. Adding AI-powered assistants or guided agents for integration could also significantly reduce the learning curve and setup effort.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Amplitude helps us understand user behavior at a very granular level, which is critical for improving product adoption and customer retention. By tracking product usage patterns, funnels, and cohorts, we’re able to identify which features drive the most value and double down on them. It also highlights friction points in the user journey so we can proactively address churn risks (session replays helps a lot here). For a PLG business model, this visibility is invaluable - our product, marketing, and success teams align better on decisions, leading to faster iteration, more customer-loved features, and ultimately higher revenue growth.

Fast, Trustworthy Product Insights at Scale

  • September 12, 2025
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Powerful funnels, retention, and pathing that surface the “why” behind user behavior fast.

Cohorting is effortless: build segments off any event/property and reuse them across charts.

Journeys and “Stickiness” make it easy to spot aha moments and drop-off points.

Solid integrations (warehouse + CDPs) and governance tools to keep events/taxonomy clean.
What do you dislike about the product?
Learning curve: advanced charts and properties take time to master.

Cost can scale quickly with event volume and seats.

Occasional friction in chart/dashboard permissions and naming consistency.

Experiment features are improving but still trail best-in-class A/B platforms for depth.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Self-serve product analytics: funnels, retention, and pathing without waiting on data teams. Benefit: faster decisions and fewer ad hoc SQL requests.

Activation and lifecycle insights: cohorts and journeys reveal drop-offs and aha moments by segment. Benefit: higher conversion and retention.

Unified metrics and governance: consistent event taxonomy plus warehouse/CDP integrations. Benefit: trusted source of truth and end-to-end visibility.
