Our go-to for product analytics
What do you like best about the product?
Heap does so much out of the box - once you install the script it's already tracking every click and pageview and with a bit of customization we're able to really understand how users are interacting with our platform.
What do you dislike about the product?
Lack of documentation, especially use cases, can be frustrating. Getting the tool setup is pretty straightforward but we wish there were more resources on how to get the most out of it.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Each of our core teams has their own dashboard to see how their channels and users are using our tool - it's made insights really easy to find and understand and also plays nicely with our other marketing tools.

Easier than Google Analytics
What do you like best about the product?
Clean design: Heap is much more user-friendly interface than Google Analytics. Also, Heap provides a longer lookback period than Google Analytics, which is very convenient.
What do you dislike about the product?
Moving reports between different collections is a bit cumbersome. It's a very manual, multi-step process. Report generation is also occasionally slow.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I am an editor at Boundless Immigration and use Heap to track page/content performance and lead conversions.
Clicktracking Made Easier
What do you like best about the product?
Snapshot dimensions and retroactive DOM capture, plus Heap Connect and a retroactively defined event stream to query.
What do you dislike about the product?
There is still custom work (of course) to send certain events and properties to Heap via API.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Reducing the maintenance overhead of Google Analytics while increasing trust in data
Flexible, yet powerful data tracking tool!
What do you like best about the product?
The ability to retroactively define events is a huge time saver. It allows our team to move quickly without needing to stop and define our measures ahead of time.
Good reporting out of the box helps our PM team stay on top of our main KPIs with relative ease.
Good reporting out of the box helps our PM team stay on top of our main KPIs with relative ease.
What do you dislike about the product?
The product is not the easiest to pick up and caters to a fairly technical audience. The query abilities are sometimes limited which forces us to leverage our data warehouse instead of their reporting UI
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We get a clear sense of how people are using our product, what features they use the most, and the audience demographics about our user base.
Scalable solution
What do you like best about the product?
As a product manager I can create & QA events easily without being stuck in the dev or data team queue
What do you dislike about the product?
When you sync data with RedShift, Heap automatically creates a column in the events table. That may drive our data storage out of control.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
My entire experimentation program relies on the data from Heap.
We pass experiment parameter and use it as a filter to compare control vs variation.

Good product, helpful for analytics
What do you like best about the product?
I can see my users' workflows. I can see what they first did on the website as well as where they navigated, and what features they used, and for how long.
What do you dislike about the product?
I can't search/filter/analysis duration of sessions easily, or number of events in order to analyze engagement more effectively
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
understanding workflows, and figuring out feature usage
Heap is always tracking
What do you like best about the product?
What we like best about Heap is that it always listening and gathering data even when we haven't thought of the question to ask it or report to run. Unlike other tools where you have to know your question a head of time, Heap allows us to always be tracking and can even retroactively go back in time to see how visitors to our site interacted with a certain component.
What do you dislike about the product?
Heap is a little hard to use the user interface. The other day was looking for a simple browser type report and it took quite a while to find it.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Client experience
Great software. Serves our needs well
What do you like best about the product?
We are able to get valuable insights from the data. Also the ability to track events in the past is great.
What do you dislike about the product?
Would like to generate triggers from particular events, or if users get into specific cohorts to take actions.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We have made important product decisions based on data gathered by Heap
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Triggers/webhooks from users entering in cohorts.
Excellent cross-session analytics, nice integrations
What do you like best about the product?
Heap has allowed us to analyze the behavior of our traffic across multiple sessions and generate hypotheses for new experiments using web behavior data. The integration with redshift allows us to do custom analytics downstream that wouldn't be possible without sessionizing our web logs. Integrations with experimentation platforms also allow us to build reports for every experiment we launch so our analytics are all in one place.
What do you dislike about the product?
It'd be great if Heap could not only write to a DW but also read from it, so that we could set up conversion funnels that include offline events.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Heap is our go-to platform for web analytics. It's made it easy for everyone on the team to pull metrics and generate hypotheses quickly without blocking on an analyst.
Good web analytics platform
What do you like best about the product?
I think it's very user-friendly and easy to learn. The support is very helpful too.
What do you dislike about the product?
Some of the analytics and more complicated reports are only accessible if you upgrade to Heap connect.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Tracking revenue from different marketing campaigns.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
do it! take the time to build strong reports that you can use for a long time. High upfront effort, but pays off.
