The Past 6 Months with Druva Insync

  • May 05, 2016
  • Review verified by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Its very easy to configure, the learning curve for anyone new to the software is minimal.

The backups are very fast and you never notice a decrease in machine performance when they are running.

The maintenance of the software is very minimal.

The inSync share is a very easy way for users to share data with others, the password requirement is a very nice feature too.

When a user gets a new machine you simply backup the old, restore to the new and it takes less than 10 mins for most users, this is a phenomenal time saver.

Overall we are very impressed with Druva, even the reps are friendly and helpful. It has helped on more than one occasion to avoid data loss or a slow recovery.
What do you dislike about the product?
The only feature that we dislike currently is that the on-premise version of inSync gets updated much later than the cloud based version.
Having to wait so long for the new features can be frustrating but it is a very minimal complaint in the grand scheme of things
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
The main benefit for us is the time to setup new machines, Under 10 mins from the time we receive the old machine until the data is restored and fully working.
We also have many traveling users so making sure we always have a backup of their data for when machines get broken saves so many problems down the line.
We have found when data corrupts on a hard drive it is not an issue either, you simple........restore to a new HDD/SSD its that simple and easy.

What do you like best about the product?
Druva is a straightforward, easy to use, backup system implemented on Windows and Apple computers throughout my department. Installation, preference setup, recovery, and administration are all straightforward and work as advertised. I highly recommend this product to others looking for reliable backup software.
What do you dislike about the product?
I've had a couple occasions where I transferred a users files and settings from one machine to a new machine, which caused Druva to think the new machine was the old. Druva support was able to get my issues resolved promptly and reliably.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
This software provides reliable, offsite, cloud backup of user data.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
I highly recommend this as a backup system.

Solid Choice for user backup - easy-to-use management console, great support

  • March 25, 2016
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Druva works well and it works silently. It's virtually no hassle at all for the end-users and they don't know it's there, which is what matters to them. The backup and restore process is very smooth.

Users are able to easily add and remove files from their backup folders all from within explorer. They also have the option of managing it online.

The admin console is straightforward and very easy to use. Important data is listed right on the main dashboard for a pleasant at-a-glance view of the environment.
What do you dislike about the product?
On our end, we've had some issues with our firewall letting all of the Druva traffic through. We've allowed the specified ranges we've gotten from support, but it seems like there's still some that doesn't fall under the specified ranges, requiring some extra work on our end.

The other thing I dislike is the process of restoring any files that may have accidentally been deleted. You can only restore files 1-at-a-time and you have to do it all completely manually. It's not a smooth process and it could very much be improved upon.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Backup and business continuity. It's great being to have a secure backup to the cloud that's reliable. The restoration has really come in handy for those times that a hard drive has failed.

We have 50 remote users who do their work on the road, disconnected from the network.

  • March 25, 2016
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
We can dynamically change the backup settings, not only for WHAT is being backed up, but also for use of CPU, etc. Everything is automatic, even the warnings for those who have not connected to the network recently. Also, we back up to an on-premise storage so we can be sure the data is not getting away from us.
What do you dislike about the product?
Some confusion over setup of backup groups
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We are currently experimenting with using Insync share to create custom folders of data relating to employee clients which can be shared to individual employees and altered 'on the fly' as client loads shift or clients leave the service. This use will reduce PII risk and keep our employee machines clear of unneeded files.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Envision uses that even Druva has not thought about.

    Non-Profit Organization Management

Reliable and easy to deploy

  • March 25, 2016
  • Review verified by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Installation and manageability is very easy and user friendly. Mass deployment and backup status monitoring is very friendly. User can browse previous version of file from restore option which is very popular in our network. Without any interrupting user it's protecting their data.
What do you dislike about the product?
Actually, there is nothing to dislike. All features are useful.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Able to recover files for a damaged/replaced system. User can restore their required files from inSync without any help from IT department.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Easy to use and reliable backup and recovery solutions.

Druva inSync Cloud - Set It and Fortget

  • March 25, 2016
  • Review verified by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Once the product has been deployed, maintenance and administration is very easy. All can administrative tasks (configuration changes, upgrades) can be done centrally through the administrative console.

Email alerting for possible issues (no backup for x days, configuration errors) can be sent to both administrators and end users.

PST backup that allows for block level backup of large pst files rather than the entire pst blob.

Block level backup, so only changed file blocks are sent over the network rather than the entire file.

Stored file dedupe and compression have been great. Are total client backup set is just over 19TB, however we are using 3TB of space as part of our SaaS license.
What do you dislike about the product?
The product can be temperamental to using bandwidth shaping technologies (we had issues with Fortinet traffic shaping). The product frequently "checks-in" with the administrative console, and if these packets are lost or delayed the client will be considered offline. We have resolved the issue early on in our deployment through whitelisting and remove all traffic associated with the InSync Cloud.

Initial deployment was a bit tedious due to using particular script generation, however this has been resolved through InSync's AD mapping product.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
End point system backup across all end user systems.

We have a number of systems that are predominantly remote and do not connect to the corporate network. Having backup on these systems has allowed us to rapidly recover from both hardware, and software related issues.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Make sure to consider backup windows with the total amount of users that will be backing up during a period of time. Multiple clients (especially on initial backup) will attempt to send data using as much upstream bandwidth as you allocate.
