Efficient file restoration with rapid incremental backups and potential for better reporting

  • November 01, 2024
  • Review provided by PeerSpot

What is our primary use case?

We are currently using Druva to back up all the files on laptops. I work in the hospitality industry, specifically at Marriott. There are users who travel from place to place and carry laptops. For users who travel occasionally, we install Druva on their laptops so that all their files get backed up in the cloud. In some cases, laptops have been stolen from our employee cars. In those situations, we are able to restore all the files directly from their Druva repository in the cloud.

How has it helped my organization?

Druva enables us to back up laptops efficiently so that we can restore files if the laptops are stolen.

What is most valuable?

The most valuable feature of Druva is that it can detect changes in files or laptops and perform incremental backups. Furthermore, the backup process is quick and doesn't take much time.

What needs improvement?

I suggest improvements in the time it takes to restore data. Also, the reports we can generate have limited features. There is a limitation in the advanced reporting features, such as understanding how many files are in the backup, which users are actively using it, and how many files have been backed up properly.

For how long have I used the solution?

We have been using Druva since 2019, which is about five years.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

Over the past five years, I haven't experienced any issues or problems with Druva. I have not received any complaints from users, indicating that it has been working smoothly.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

It is difficult to comment on scalability because we are only using the basic features. However, we have never faced any issue in that regard.

How are customer service and support?

The customer support from Druva is commendable. Their response is usually quick, and I have contacted them only a couple of times for accessing certain features. Each time the response was prompt.

How would you rate customer service and support?

Positive

Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?

Before Druva, we used different solutions for backups. Currently, we also use Veeam for servers and Druva for laptops.

How was the initial setup?

The initial setup of Druva is basic and easy. Installation takes less than two or three minutes.

What about the implementation team?

The firewall system is managed by a third-party company for all our hotels.

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

We pay Druva for the backup application on a monthly basis. Compared to other applications that we are paying for, Druva's pricing is fair. It is not cheap or expensive.

Which other solutions did I evaluate?

We have used Datto and Veeam for some of our backup needs.

What other advice do I have?

For personal backups of laptops and computers, I recommend Druva due to its ease of use. However, I cannot speak to its features for advanced applications.

I'd rate the solution nine out of ten.

What do you like best about the product?
The tools are very easy to navigate through once you know where you're going. The support teams are incredibly helpful and their training tools are well-implemented.
What do you dislike about the product?
It can be a bit difficult at first to learn where everything in the portal is since there are so many options, but Druva does a great job on educating its customers.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Druva offers us peace of mind when backing up our data, as we do not need to perform manual backups.

Keeping Data Safe and Easy to Access

  • May 31, 2024
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
I can remember when we used to backup data to tape drives that took a really long time for not that much data. When you had to restore something it took a really long time to find the data and restore which was cumbersome. Using Druva is really fast with both file backups and resorations. Finding the data is easy with date specific backups and easy to drill down into file trees.
What do you dislike about the product?
No real downside that I have come across in using so far. There is a learning curve with the software interface but once you know how to find your data it's fairly easy. I would have liked more training than what I received but that does not weigh on any issue with Druva.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
The data backup and restoration process is very nice. By using their service it also takes more equipment out of our data room that we do not have to maintain. In the past it was any type of storage media that physically sat in our location. To keep things offsite we had to get another company to hold onto that data. Using Druva eliminates a lot of extra steps and multiple vendors.

Druva Makes Our Backups and Resiliency Process Easy

  • May 07, 2024
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Druva makes our M365 backups easy, immutable, and reliable. In just a few clicks you can start backups of your Exchange Online, Sharepoint Online, OneDrive, Teams, and M365 groups. Knowing that the backups are secured in a different vendor's cloud system allows us to avoid putting our production and backup data in the same place. Our account team has been easy to work with and the support staff are very helpful.
What do you dislike about the product?
There is not much to dislike. Pricing seems high, especially at first, but I guess I would ask how much does anyone really spend on backups? The reality is we want whatever we spend to matter and I feel that we get that with Druva.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Online, API-based, backups that are seemlessly integrated with M365.

The file recovery can be cumbersome and tedious.

Excellent backup tool, easy to configure

  • February 27, 2024
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Druva's rollout was pretty straight forward, profile and data residency settings are easily configurable and the deployment team was helpful. The Single Pane of glass for managing multiple regions is what we needed.
What do you dislike about the product?
It would be great to be able to backup on-prem exchange, but the tool matches both our needs and wants for a cloud backup of the cloud based tools we do use, we haven't had to lean on the support teams much but they have been responsive when we have questions.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We needed a cloud backup tool for our M365 suite and really wanted something easy to deploy, provision and manage through a single pane of glass for various regions and products.

Druva has been very easy to use and it works exactly like it is supposed to work.

  • February 20, 2024
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Druva gives us the ability to not only run our various backups however we need to, but it was very easy to implement and is very easy to maintain. Even on the few instances where we do have an issue, Druva support is quick to respond and extremely knowledgeable .
What do you dislike about the product?
The only bad thing I can say about Druva is that it has so much useful functionality, that the website can be a bit difficult to navigate for a new user, but it only takes a few minutes to get used to it and get rolling.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
With our previous backup solution, we were having constant issues maintaining the connection to the cloud based backup sites, and it was very difficult to access the backups when we needed to restore something. Druva has been much more reliable and the simplicity of restoring data is amazing.

Easy to use, just works

  • February 06, 2024
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
It's intuitive and seems to just work. You don't need to spend an absurb amount of time configuring it or setting it up, and even so, it's not very confusing.
What do you dislike about the product?
You do have some latency with large data sets and changes, and it's cloud based...so if you don't like that, it's a con.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Helps us backup information for our users, and give it a spot outside of our firm in case of emergency
