The BlackBoard ULTRA Positive Experience
What do you like best about the product?
BlackBoard Ultra really helps keep our courses sleek looking, easy to move through, and build, as well as helps students with navigation. We have cut down our questions with students "lost in Bb space" down to almost nothing. On top of this, none of us (as instructors) had to compromise our materials in moving to Ultra. It really has been a win/win situation.
As we already used BlackBoard Legacy before moving to Ultra, we found that the migration over to ultra with the help of customer service, the videos provided, and training team, made for a very smooth transition. This eas of integration was an important factor in our move to Ultra as BlackBoard Ultra is part of our every day work load as instructors, and important that our students (who also use it every day) were able to access it easily as well.

What do you dislike about the product?
Initially my only issue was how the gradebook (full gradebook) looked. I was used to the old one, and used it to do a lot of my double checking.
However, some of this is my own issue as I am visually impaired, and have to have all of my screens and fonts absolutely giangantic, so that also interfered with the interface of the newer gradebook (because of all the scrolling). Had it been on a normal font size, I don't think it would have been that big of a change. As it was, I simply worked through the other avenues of grading which have been just as good (if not better), and shown me just how flexible Ultra can be.

With many competing Learning Management Systems out there (some less expensive) it was important for us to choose one that exhibited a strong customer service base. Knowing that there were people behind the product there for us when we needed it has been integral, and the team that has worked with us has been wonderful and key in our success in integration.
We also needed to make sure we used an LMS that allowed the faculty to still express themselves for their coursework and students in a way that fit them and gave them ample room to experiment and explore ideas. Not all LMS's have that ability, as many are too strictly structured. We found that BlackBoard Ultra while on one hand giving that initial structure for those that needed/wanted it, it still allowed for creativity and added features and applications for those that wanted to work outside of the box, so to speak.
Being able to put our own ideas and issues into writing via Anthology has also been important. Seeing that what we think matters, and often that others had already addressed the matter, or conversely that a tool was simply not being understood or utilized correctly on our end, which opened up an opportunity for training.

I have been using Blackboard for teaching in University for 10 years
What do you like best about the product?
The feature is easy to navigate. Students also adapt quickly even for first time user.
What do you dislike about the product?
Sync issue for students' grades. For example sync with grade from Pearson Mastering program.

I am using it for students to complete require courses.

Number of Features: Totally digitalized with the ability to move external documents and assessments into the platform

I like the ability to create the folder structure to make my content organized.

Sometimes the courses links break when courses are copied over.

Blackboard Ultra Review
What do you like best about the product?
The ease of use, course content organization, and the constant updates that occur each month.
What do you dislike about the product?
There are some features that aren't available in Ultra as there was in Learn such as managing column organization.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Not problems per se but just the ease of use for not only the students but the faculty as well.
Great and only getting better.

Blackboard still lags behind in its feature set compared to other top LMSs.

Innovative and Community Oriented
What do you like best about the product?
Blackboard is a great LMS product that has shown a renewed vision of innovation and committment to their community of users and incorporates their ideas and feedback. Their Ultra format is user friendly for the instructors and students alike.
What do you dislike about the product?
There backend support ticketing system has been a tiered issue for a long time, but they were consistently working to make it better. So we remain hopeful that they are able to accomplish it.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
It is a great LMS that supports our students in their learning process at the University. It facilitates the instructors getting content to the students, as well as being able to assess their progress.
Adjunct faculty
What do you like best about the product?
Helpful aspects of Blackboard include the ease with which new assignments and tests can be created and used/updated for subsequent semesters and the number of options available when creating assignments. I find the document submission function especially helpful as an adjunct English composition faculty.
What do you dislike about the product?
Implementing special rules for grading on the overall grading system (not the individual grading structures for assignments)
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I misunderstood - I use Blackboard for academic purposes. It makes my job 100% easier and allows me to focus my class time on LEARNING.
User friendly
What do you like best about the product?
I like being able to use it from phone, and computer.

Nothing special. Everything works well about it.

What do you like best about the product?
Learn with the new update to Ultra is a great improvement with stability and flexibility. Awesome, improvement on the course design with flexibilty and the AI designer. The UI is very clean and easy to understand. Also with the community support and the idea exchange, customers feel more involved in the evolution of the product.

I used to dislike the rigidity of learn but with the newest updates it has become a lot better. Still could be more costumizable, hope it keeps improving
