What do you like best about the product?
I love the integration of third-party tools the best in Blackboard Ultra. It was easy and seamless. The grade book is also very manageable in Blackboard Ultra, with third-party assessment scores updating every 24 hours.
What do you dislike about the product?
It involved a mindset change from Blackboard Learn to Blackboard Ultra. There was also a steep learning curve, and it took a lot of practice to make the module look good and have easier navigation.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Blackboard helps keep information securely in one place and integrates 3rd party tools that automatically mark students, thereby reducing the marking of 9,000 students. e.g. Integration of SCORM packages.

Blackboard Ultra - Best LMS out there!

    Reviewed on Aug 13, 2024
    Review provided by G2
What do you like best about the product?
There is very little I dislike! The recently added Design Assistant features put Blackboard on a different level to any other VLE.

The ability to quickly and safely generate new content such as quizzes, assignments, discussion boards, journals and images is a game changer for any academic who is wanting to enhance their teaching, learning and assessment workflows.

Every staff member that has attended one of our training sessions were I introduce Design Assistant has nothing but wonder, amazement and a "how do i get my hands on this!" attitude after the sessions.

All of the above, although my favourite part of BBU should distract from how every other aspect of the software is perfectly designed and balanced to produce unbelievably learning opportunities to provide students the best experiences while at our University.
What do you dislike about the product?
As mentioned above, there is very little I dislike about BBU. I would like to see blackboard thinking about introducing more of a Gamification style strategy to the formative test tool. Think about how successful Kahoot and Quizizz have been. Could we see a more gamified user interface with the new GenAI Design Assistant still working in the background?
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Blackboard provides the perfect platform where of the University's full time course materials, assignments, and communications. This reduces problems relating to using multiple tools and platforms,

Through the use of Blackboard Ally, students can access their course materials in formats that suit them and meet their specific needs. Staff no longer have to spend time and effort producing multiple copies of their content to meet incluivity requirements and through this flexibility supports diverse learning needs and promotes inclusivity.

Streamlined Communication: Blackboard’s integrated communication tools, such as announcements, discussion boards, and messaging ensures that important information is communicated effectively and in a timely manner and provides a space for outside of the box learning to take place.

Blackboard provides a variety of types of assignments and quizzes, which can be graded automatically giving the ability to provide timely and detailed feedback helps students understand their progress and areas for improvement.

What do you dislike about the product?
While it provides numerous options for organization and control of content, sometimes it can become too cumbersome.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Producing shelled content that can be ported to different users and different accounts is great for sharing lesson plans and course content.
