Itaú Unibanco adopts the data mesh architecture and relies on AWS support

The bank is committed to become increasingly digital, adopting a strategy that involves changing how its teams work, streamlining its technologies and transforming its culture, focusing in strengthening the customer-centric approach and using data in scale for the development of solutions.

With this aim in mind, the institution structured a data architecture based on a data mesh model with AWS support, and was also supported by the company while creating processes to make the project feasible. With the new structure, Itaú Unibanco obtained benefits, such as a 95% reduction in customer analysis processing time.

In this video, Moisés Nascimento, Chief Data Officer at Itaú Unibanco, and Roberto Figueira, Engineering and Data Platform Superintendent at the institution, tell how the bank restructured its data strategy and implemented the data mesh architecture so that it could be distributed across the communities that develop their products. Moisés tells that these data became available through the new architecture and, in less than six months, hundreds of users were already creating accounts inside the data mesh.
