Nulogy Speeds Payments by 50% with Sage Intacct, Powered by AWS

Nulogy, a leading provider of supply chain collaboration solutions, needed to modernize its finance technology stack, which had become too mired in manual processes and offered limited reporting functionality. Working with AWS Partner Sage, Nulogy was able to automate finance workflows and dramatically improve reporting to create a more strategic, scalable finance operation. Since deploying Sage Intacct, Nulogy has reduced time-to-close on vendor invoices by 50 percent and positioned itself to thrive in the future.

Although the Nulogy platform runs on a modern technology stack, internal departments such as finance were still using disparate, manual systems. Setting up close of business every month was a multi-step process that was inefficient for Nulogy and offered little insight into the financial data. According to Anthony Sangra, senior manager, financial planning and analysis at Nulogy, “we were manually saving invoices, with no dashboard views. We spent hours just translating information between systems because the processes were really fragmented and broken.” With the company’s long-term finance strategies hindered by the limitations of the technology stack, Nulogy found itself at an inflection point. Moving forward, Nulogy needed to ensure that it was in a strong position to adapt, scale, and compete in the years to come. AWS Partner Sage delivered exactly what the company needed.

Sage Intacct delivers a world-class accounting and ERP solution designed to help business flow. As a solution that runs on Amazon Web Services (AWS), Sage Intacct uses Amazon Elastic Kubernetes Service (Amazon EKS) to efficiently deploy containerized microservices, which can help customers scale. With Sage Intacct, organizations can improve visibility through realtime, multi-dimensional reports and dashboards that provide insights from key metrics in seconds. By simplifying multi-entity management and eliminating manual, error-prone processes, users can close the books up to 80 percent faster, power 2-4X growth in revenue, and improve overall accounting efficiency by up to 90 percent.

Nulogy was already aware of Sage’s reputation as a leading provider of financial solutions, so the company reached out. In just five months, Nulogy was up and running with Sage Intacct. “Working with AWS and Sage has helped Nulogy boost what I call their ‘-ilities,’” said Eric Sleeth, senior industry marketing manager at Sage. “By delivering measurable improvements in the agility of their workflows and unlocking the flexibility to scale, we’ve helped Nulogy address their most pressing business challenges.”

For Nulogy, deciding to work with Sage was easy. “First and foremost, it was about their customer support,” Sangra said. “I’ve worked with Sage at previous companies, and I’ve never brought them a challenge they couldn’t overcome—I’ve always had great experiences.” As a member of the AWS ISV Workload Migration (WMP) program, Sage has bolstered its go-to-market strategy with customers such as Nulogy.

What really tipped the scales for Sangra was Sage’s ability to create custom implementations that allow solutions, data, and information from disparate sources to flow smoothly into the Sage Intacct dashboard. Nulogy’s financial stack includes multiple software-as-a-service (SaaS) solutions that enable electronic funds transfer (EFT) processing, travel and expense management, and accounts payable processing. Sage created custom connections to integrate all three solutions with Sage Intacct. Looking ahead, Nulogy plans to add another connection to the vendor procurement and subscription management platform in the coming months.

Overall, Sage customers have become 30–70 percent more efficient through paperless automation, and Nulogy is no exception. With the automated workflows in Sage Intacct, Nulogy has improved days sales outstanding (DSO) by reducing time to invoice by 50 percent. The finance department has also cut overall time-to-close on vendor invoices. Previously complex vendor invoicing is now consolidated from a lengthy multistep process to a single click. Payment runs have shrunk from four hours to just minutes.

Having detailed, real-time reporting has opened new opportunities for Nulogy to manage bigger and more complex contracts. Sage Intacct has also enabled more robust forecasting. Nulogy recently completed a funding round of $20 million to scale its operations and chose to invest in its new finance tech stack to facilitate growth.
