Western Governors University upgrades cloud computing degree with AWS
Western Governors University (WGU) announced the launch of critical updates to its Bachelor of Science Cloud Computing (BSCC) degree program, in collaboration with Amazon Web Services (AWS). The degree program is designed to prepare students with the skills they need to succeed in today’s economy and meet the demands of employers seeking cloud professionals.
Arizona schools enable cloud-ready workforce of the future with plan to train and certify 5000 by June 2022
This week, Arizona Governor Doug Ducey and the Arizona Commerce Authority (ACA) announced a statewide plan to train and certify at least 5,000 Arizona students in cloud computing by June 2022. The state’s Career and Technical Education Districts (CTED), community colleges, and universities will train students using the AWS Educate and AWS Academy programs. Arizona is the most recent state to collaborate with Amazon Web Services (AWS) to transform their future workforce with cloud readiness and technical education programs.
Swinburne University launches undergraduate associate degree in cloud technologies
Swinburne University, in collaboration with Amazon Web Services (AWS), announced the creation of Australia’s first cloud degree program. The associate degree of applied technologies – cloud technologies will help undergraduates prepare for in-demand careers in cloud computing. Swinburne created the degree through a collaboration with AWS Educate, Amazon’s global initiative to provide students and educators with resources for building skills in cloud technology.
Helping healthcare professionals use the cloud to serve Canadians citizens through AWS DigiHealth
In June, Amazon Web Services (AWS) piloted AWS DigiHealth, an educational program designed for healthcare professionals in IT, digital health, and healthcare delivery to learn about cloud computing concepts. The program teaches participants about the value of the cloud, shares examples of how the cloud can be applied in healthcare, and reviews applicable available services through AWS. The pilot was eligible for working professionals in the health care sector who were interested in learning how the cloud can help them transform their organization and spur innovation.
AWS DigiGov: Accelerating cloud learning for government, virtually
Launched in 2018 as a two-day in-person cloud education program for government officials, AWS has redesigned AWS DigiGov in a virtual format. AWS DigiGov is a two-day education program with curriculum based on the AWS Certified Cloud Practitioner exam. Through lectures, cloud-based curriculum, and hands-on labs, participants representing federal, provincial, and municipal government learn to use the cloud within their environment and remove barriers to the cloud technology.
IVE Information Technology Discipline and AWS announce new cloud computing diploma to prepare students for cloud-enabled jobs
The leading vocational and professional education provider in Hong Kong, Hong Kong Institute of Vocational Education (IVE) Information Technology Discipline, and Amazon Web Services (AWS), through its AWS Educate initiative, announced the launch of a new cloud computing diploma to prepare students for entry-level cloud technology jobs. Starting in September 2020, the two-year program will be available to IVE students and will support approximately 100 cloud computing students annually.
Building a cloud-ready workforce: Utah announces plan to train and certify 5000 residents in cloud computing
States are transforming their workforce and addressing immediate unemployment and re-skilling challenges brought on by the COVID-19 pandemic. One state—Utah—announced a plan to train and certify 5,000 students for cloud careers by June 2022. Yesterday, Utah Governor Gary R. Herbert announced the statewide initiative, enable training at Utah technical schools, community colleges, universities, and select K-12 career and technical education schools with access to AWS education and training programs.
AWS and Chile Launch the Data Observatory Project
Amazon Web Services (AWS) has been selected as a founding member of Chile’s Data Observatory project, an innovative public-private alliance with the Chilean Government. The alliance is being created to consolidate, analyze real-time, and archive astronomy data streams from all wavelengths across all Chilean observatories in the Atacama Desert, where 70 percent of the world’s telescopes are located due to the ideal observation conditions that the geographical area provides. AWS will host the images and data that are recorded and downloaded from Chile’s world-renowned telescopes, which are continuously studying space.
AWS to Bridge the European Skills Gap
I had the pleasure of taking the stage in Brussels and giving the keynote presentation at our first-ever European Public Sector Summit. I was inspired by the hundreds of organizations in attendance and by the number of whom have embraced the cloud to support their digital transformation initiatives. I also was awed by how much our customers have been able to achieve using AWS technology, notably the European Commission and Santillana. These leaders shared stories of saving money and delivering innovative digital solutions through AWS that are helping to build a better future.
