From July 11-12, 2023, the IMAGINE: Education, State, and Local Leaders conference from AWS gathered public sector leaders from around the world in Sacramento, CA to reimagine the future of state and local government and education. At the keynote address, Kim Majerus, vice president of global education and US state and local government at AWS, shared stories of education and state and local organizations using cloud technology to provide meaningful services for their communities. Three guest speakers joined the stage to share how they’re using AWS to protect education services against the rising threat of cyber attacks, advance cutting-edge research, promote innovative citizen services, and more.

But developing a request for proposal (RFP) for a data center migration to the cloud can be challenging for organizations who have not used cloud at scale yet. This blog post presents guidance for procurement practices that can be used when an AMC is looking to solicit cloud services for a data center migration separate from the integration services to perform the migration.

Modernizing the university’s technology was a top priority to help improve the security of the university, improve business continuity, and solve the unique challenges of the university’s location. Working together with AWS and AWS Partners Strata Information Group and VMware, XULA migrated over 90 percent of its critical systems to the cloud, boosted its cybersecurity posture, and reduced IT costs.

Announcing the Landing Zone Accelerator for Education to support customers in education and research

AWS announced the availability of Landing Zone Accelerator (LZA) for Education, an industry-specific deployment of the LZA on AWS, designed to further support education customers in designing cloud environments for their compliance needs. The LZA on AWS solution is architected to align with AWS best practices and multiple, global compliance frameworks. The new LZA for Education builds on the LZA to help customers secure their research workloads or workloads containing student data by giving them a set of default configurations that they can use as a starting point and iterate on to define security and compliance posture as code.
