AWS Training and Certification for Developers and SysOps

I have written about the AWS Training and Certification program several times in the past year or so. We want to help you to learn more about how to design, build, and run applications on AWS (that’s the training part). We also want to give you the opportunity to demonstrate your AWS skills (certification). The certification will allow you to show your current employer, possible future employers, or your customers that you have the technical competence to work with AWS. If you are an APN Partner, certification will help you to differentiate your AWS practice in the eyes of your customers.

Today we are releasing two new certification exams for Developers and SysOps Administrators. These certifications join the existing  AWS Certified Solution Architect – Associate Level, which we launched in April of 2013. With the addition of these new certifications, the Associate Level of our program is now complete and we’ll turn our attention to the next level.

Here’s what’s new:

AWS Certified Developer
The AWS Certified Developer – Associate Level certification is intended for individuals who have designed and built AWS applications.

You’ll need to know how to build, debug, secure, and deploy applications that make use of core AWS services such as S3, DynamoDB, SQS, the Simple Workflow Service. Elastic Beanstalk, and CloudFormation. Consult the Exam Guide to get a better idea of what you’ll need to know.

You have 80 minutes to take the exam. There are no prerequisites, but you can take the new Developing on AWS course to prepare if you would like.

If you are ready to take a shot at earning your certification, go ahead and schedule an exam now.

AWS Certified SysOps Administrator
The AWS Certified SysOps Administrator – Associate Level certification is designed for individuals who have designed, built, and run applications on the AWS platform.

You’ll need to know how to identify and gather requirements for solutions intended for hosting and deployment on AWS, and you’ll need to know how to provision, operate, and maintain the solutions once they are up and running.

Once again, consult the Exam Guide to get a better sense of what you will need to know before you take this 80-minute exam.

The new Systems Operations on AWS course will help you to prepare, as will genuine hands-on experience with AWS.

If you are ready to move ahead, schedule an exam now.

Training Discount
In order to help you to prepare to take one or both of the new certification exams, we are offering a 20% discount on the two instructor-led classes listed above. This discount applies to classes delivered by AWS, and excludes classes delivered by our APN Training Partners. Use code MK20DEVSO114 when you register, and attend the class prior to March 31, 2014.
