Numerous legacy workloads, still hosted on premises, are mission-critical and hardly interruptible. Their migration to AWS must happen quasi-transparently for their users. This post details how the combination of AWS Outposts and CloudEndure can be used to solve for this issue. We demonstrate this by migrating a Solaris machine making use of the Charon SSP emulator by Stromasys, running on standard Amazon EC2 instances and using CloudEndure.

AWS and IBM recently announced that IBM Cloud Pak for Data, a unified platform for data and AI, has been made available on AWS Marketplace. You can easily test, subscribe to, and deploy the Cloud Pak for Data platform on AWS. By running on Red Hat OpenShift and being integrated with AWS services, the platform simplifies data access, automates data discovery and curation, and safeguards sensitive information by automating policy enforcement for all users in your organization.

To meet the challenge of simplifying data protection for hybrid environments, Cohesity introduced Data Management as a Service (DMaaS), powered by AWS. Cohesity’s DMaaS portfolio encompasses multiple as-a-service offerings, including Backup-as-a-Service (BaaS) which is available in AWS Marketplace as Cohesity DataProtect. The service is presented via Cohesity’s globally available web interface, so for protecting workloads not running in AWS customers do not even need to have an AWS account.
