Singapore General Hospital (SGH), SingHealth Office of Academic Informatics (OAI), and Amazon Web Services (AWS) collaborated to develop a cost-effective, scalable cloud infrastructure that enables researchers to perform their own analyses on a centrally secured and compliant cloud platform. AWS HealthOmics offers a suite of services that help bioinformaticians, researchers, and scientists to store, query, analyze, and generate insights from genomic and other biological data. Student training program tackles Thailand’s air pollution with help from AirGradient, AWS

Amazon Web Services (AWS) is supporting AirGradient, a manufacturer of affordable and accurate air quality monitors, to launch an air quality tracking program with Mechai Bamboo School in Thailand. The program—which will see 100 monitors donated to the school and its partners, part of a wider donation of 200 monitors from AWS to non-government organisations across Asia via AirGradient—will teach students about the science of air quality, the consequences of air pollution, and how to use the monitors.

The LearnHaem website, built on AWS, provides one of the largest and most comprehensive collections of no-cost digitized images of microscopy slides and haematology educational content available in Asia Pacific, focusing on blood and blood-related disorders.

Japan Manned Space Systems uses AWS Snowcone to automate and optimize data delivery from space to Earth

Approximately 400 kilometers above the Earth’s surface, Japan Manned Space Systems Corporation (JAMSS) used an AWS Snowcone SSD onboard the International Space Station (ISS) to quickly and autonomously transmit large volumes of data from space back on the ground into AWS. The AWS Snowcone, which arrived on the ISS in July 2022 as part of the first Axiom Space Mission (Ax-1), is available to power on-orbit data processing experiments for researchers, students, and scientific organizations.
