AWS announces AWS Modular Data Center for U.S. Department of Defense Joint Warfighting Cloud Capability

AWS announced AWS Modular Data Center. This new service provides U.S. Department of Defense (DoD) customers with the ability to deploy compute and storage capabilities to support large-scale workloads wherever they need it, including in Disconnected, Disrupted, Intermittent, or Limited (DDIL) environments. Instead of relying on limited data center infrastructure or building from the ground up, this offering delivers a cost-effective, self-contained modular data center solution that supports customers’ data center scale workloads.

Thailand’s Higher Education, Science, Research, and Innovation Ministry collaborates with AWS to boost innovation and upskill public servants

AWS today signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with Thailand’s Ministry of Higher Education, Science, Research, and Innovation (MHESI) to boost innovation using cloud technology. Through this collaboration, AWS will support MHESI to identify pilot workloads for the ministry to start migrating to the AWS Cloud. MHESI will also use AWS training programs to upskill employees on AWS Cloud skills across over 200 education institutions and over 20 MHESI-managed research and education agencies across Thailand by early 2026.

AWS announces 2023 AWS Space Accelerator to advance global space sustainability

Now in its third year, the AWS Space Accelerator is a hybrid technical, business, and mentorship opportunity open to space startups from around the globe who are looking to power their space missions using AWS. In 2023, the AWS Space Accelerator will call on teams and resources across Amazon to help emerging startups focus on cloud-powered solutions that support the use of space as a sustainable and usable environment for years to come, as well as solutions that positively impact life on Earth. The application period for the 2023 AWS Space Accelerator opens today, with proposals due by March 6, 2023.

Open for registration: Cloud Audit Academy for Federal and DoD Workloads in AWS

AWS announced the launch of the Cloud Audit Academy (CAA) for Federal and DoD Workloads (FDW) in AWS. This is a two-day accelerated training course to educate customers on how to leverage AWS services to assist with US Federal and Department of Defense (DoD) security and compliance requirements. This training course also qualifies for 12 hours of continuing professional education (CPE). Register at no cost today.

34 new or updated datasets on the Registry of Open Data: New data for land use, Alzheimer’s Disease, and more

The AWS Open Data Sponsorship Program makes high-value, cloud-optimized datasets publicly available on AWS. This quarter, AWS released 34 new or updated datasets from Impact Observatory, The Allen Institute for Brain Science, Common Screens, and others, which are available now on the Registry of Open Data in the following categories.

Pediatric cancer researchers use AWS to accelerate Cancer Moonshot

Earlier this year, US President Joe Biden set a goal to end cancer as we know it by improving prevention, screening, diagnosis, and treatment. To answer this call, AWS is expanding its ongoing work with the Children’s Brain Tumor Network (CBTN). Together, AWS and the CBTN will enable researchers and clinicians to share and analyze medical record, imaging, genomic, and other data in near real-time to speed development of new therapies for pediatric brain cancers.
