Monday S3 Roundup
Developer activity around S3 continues at a rapid pace, and I already have enough material for another S3 roundup. Here goes:
- Doug Kaye, who interviewed me several years ago for IT Conversations, asks about the use of S3 as a CDN, or content delivery network. Great idea, and I will pass this post along to the S3 development team.
- Olivier Gutknecht has released the first version of an S3 browser for the Mac.
- Dave Winer makes it clear that we need to do a lot of idea sharing in order to realize the full potential of S3. There’s plenty of sharing happening already on the S3 discussion forum, but there’s room for more.
- Andre wants to use S3 for automated backup, and is looking for the tools needed to make this a reality.
- Jarod is trying to build an S3 application, but is having some trouble with UTF.
- There’s a new release of s3DAV; it is now up to version 0.4.
- Oh yeah, and there’s a Perl module, Net::Amazon::S3.
Whew, that’s a lot of stuff.
