easy and no-nonsense Apple MDM

  • March 29, 2022
  • Review verified by G2

What do you like best about the product?
an MDM solution with a clear structure that gives you a good view of the environment that you are managing. Usefull preconfigured applications and very responsive support to help you when you explore less known areas.
What do you dislike about the product?
to get the full benefit out of any MDM solution, some scripting knowledge is required to tune to your likings.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
from multiple software upgrade solutions to a single approach with Kandji. From time-consuming installs to almost zero-touch build to role of our devices.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
make an extensive inventory of what you want to achieve upfront and put it to the test in a trial.

Excellent tool for managing our Mac inventory

What do you like best about the product?
Kandji is intuitive and easy to use. Most of our organization uses windows devices, and I was looking for an easy-to-manage tool to reduce our IT mac management workload, make sure policies were consistently applied and allow the end-users greater flexibility. Kandji met the bill at a reasonable price. The learning curve was reasonable, even for some someone with little mac management experience. The Auto-Apps (commons software such as 1Password, Webex, Zoom, Asana, etc.) are amazing - they work! The list of Auto Apps also keeps expanding.
What do you dislike about the product?
Some of Apple's privacy controls require specific permissions per developer, particularly for Custom Apps. I was able to get this working with the help of support, though it was a bit more complex than I would have liked. The support staff member was very helpful in walking me through the process via chat.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Kandji empowered end-users to serve themselves. We remove admin rights from all users to prevent malware proliferation. This caused lots of helpdesk tickets for mac user related to app updates and installs. With Kandji Self-Serve, we approve specific apps and they are available to users in that Blueprint, which greatly reduced helpdesk support tickets. The process of setting up a new mac is also much simpler and a new device an be set-up with less than an hour of active labor.

What do you dislike about the product?
Sometimes there are issues with profile installation which can lead to having to wipe the machine.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
The ability to manage and track our devices. Also the ability to push out updates for software and manage what the user can install.

One Of The Best

What do you like best about the product?
The best thing about Kandji is the ease of use for the admins. Compared to its competitors, Kandji's ease of use and navigation, as well as it's built-in automation to help you hit the ground running makes it very easy to transform the way you manage your Apple fleet.
What do you dislike about the product?
There isn't much that I dislike about Kandji but there are a few gripes that come to mind such as features that I felt should have already been built into such a robust tool, but were not. For example, when on a device's profile, you can click on the "Assigned to:" tab in order to change which use this device is assigned to, but right underneath in the "Blueprint:" tab which has the current applied Blueprint listed, if you click on it, you're unable to edit the current Blueprint on the device, instead, you're taken to a new page of that current Blueprint in order to edit it, not change it for the specific user. Small things like that I feel take away from the overall beautiful polish of Kandji.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
General management of our Apple fleet has become very streamlined and automated because of Kandji. The record-keeping has also become exponentially easier. As an org, we did not have an asset management system so all of our devices were tracked via spreadsheets, Kandji takes the difficulty out of all of that.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
One of the best in the market, can't go wrong with it.

Exactly what we need

What do you like best about the product?
Kandji is robust - anything that I've wanted to be able to do for my organization across our macOS environment, Kandji has a sinple methodology to make happen. It's extremely well-sorted, which makes controlling it very intuitive, and the support staff are incredible.
What do you dislike about the product?
I wish it were possible for Kandji to directly support remote control of client computers - in my company, Zoom is my go-to for one-on-one problem solving. If Kandji could LogMeIn, the sky is the limit.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Easy, centralized access control. I tailor entire system blueprints to match functional groups, so it's easy to establish whose user accounts need administrative permissions, or what apps need to be available via Kandji Self Service. This has been a huge timesaver, as has their scripted Rosetta installation and the instant CIS-leveled baseline parameters
Recommendations to others considering the product:
If you need an MDM that's easy to learn, easy to manage and easy to personalize for your needs, Kandji is for you.

Kandji is great

  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
What I like best about Kandji is how easy it is to use, set up, and automate. Kandji's automations are a major win since it reduces the time and toil spent managing our fleet. Kandji's tight integrations into Okta also make it easy to help automate our ITAM procesess.
What do you dislike about the product?
Kandj does need to update some features that bring it to parity with Jamf in certain regards such as how scripting works, how custom apps deploy, the ability to scope deployments a bit better (something like Smart groups).
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We've solved several issues with Kandji. As an all macOS shop, Kandji has helped us tremendously with automating certain processes for our fleet when setting up macOS devices for our Zero-touch deployment model such as automated naming of devices to match a schema, automatically attaching the device to a user in our directory, and automatically adding our laptop to our ITAM.

Kandji is a fantastic MDM tool and company.

What do you like best about the product?
The tool is intuitive and makes sense to use. Any issues you have, support are very easy to contact and happy to help with any query or feature request. Any changes are rolled out sensibly and with plenty of notice.
What do you dislike about the product?
Features sometimes take a bit of time to roll out, and not always in the right order.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We use Kandji to manage our entire company's Mac fleet, roll out updates and control security aspects. The benefits in being able to reach security compliance are invaluable.

What do you like best about the product?
User interface is very easy to navigate and the customer support is stellar.
What do you dislike about the product?
I wish Kandji had remote device management
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We are now able to track our company-owned devices and manage them on a higher level. Automatic enrollment has been a game changer!
Recommendations to others considering the product:
The support team is so helpful - any time I have a question they are always so quick to respond and walk me through the solution.

Very good experience with Kandji so far

  • March 23, 2022
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
The user interface, the speed of the web app, the app always seems very quick and easy to use.

The deployment of the MDM Profile is also very fast.

And the support is also very efficient.
What do you dislike about the product?
The lack of feedback when you do some actions. For example, when you change the blueprint of a device directly in the list using the select, you have no feedback to tell you that the change has been made.

One big thing, not being able to set a tree of blueprints. For us, that's the biggest point, because I have to duplicate every blueprint just to change the mail address for "Mail" on our iPad. But then every change I make on a blueprint, I have to do the same on every blueprint, which is not very scalable.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Managing every apple device of our company.

For the MacBooks: faster onboarding time, less configuration, better security as we can enforce FileVault by default.
For our iPads: faster deployment. We managed to deploy 18 iPads very easily with no issues.
