A winning MDM for Mac Admins

  • January 25, 2024
  • Review verified by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Kandji's user-friendly interface, makes it easy for admins to navigate and manage device settings. The platform is robust and gives admins enough control over things like custom scripts and package deployments, without comproising the user-friendly aspects of the platform. Kandji seems to have strong partnerships with Apple, and other industry leading providers (such as Okta), which provide some peace-of-mind when new OS and feature releases are dropped.
What do you dislike about the product?
I would summarise the downsides for Kandji in two words: maturity and extensibility. Because they are realtively new to the MDM space, they have a lot left to build to catch up to the feature set of JAMF. That being said, I've been very impressed with the prioritization of new features released by the product team. Reprting and analytics is another area that Kandji falls short, but there are relatively easy ways to engineer around this.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Kandji is solving some of our biggest painpoints around managing a macOS fleet. This includes things like streamlining device deployments with features like Kandji Passport and Liftoff as well as ensuring compliance policies are met with features around device management.

Effective and Easy to Use

  • January 25, 2024
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Kandji has the most straightforward, easy-to-use interface of any of the main 3 MDM platforms for Mac. Everything is laid out very logically and works the way you would expect. As a one-person IT department, it's very useful for me to both not have to spend time doing a lot of arcane script management and command line prompting as well as having a tool that's easy to train someone else on for the times when I'm out of office.

Implementation/integration was very easy when we switched over from our former MSP and their MDM to in-house management and Kandji. The documentation was robust and easy to follow and the experience for end users was simple and quick. The customer support team was responsive to any questions that came up, and have since come up, and are always prompt with answering questions without any kind of runaround.

Kandji has all of the features our organization needs. We're a small, ~50-person org, so our needs might not be the same as a larger enterprise organization, but for our purposes it's the perfect tool from a cost/feature/ease-of-use perspective. I probably only have to log in to Kandji once every 1-1.5 weeks because it's very easy to set it and forget it.
What do you dislike about the product?
I have no major complaints about Kandji. Like all MDM software, there are idiosyncrasies and end user frustrations, but on the whole the negatives are extremely minor and from an admin perspective I don't have any complaints.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
It's an MDM, so it solves the problem of managing all of our devices.

Quick and easy Mac management product

  • January 25, 2024
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
We went from no MDM to Kandji after reviewing several other vendors. Part of the reason was the close relationship with Apple, greatly enhancing the features that apple provides which most vendors have to work with anyway. They were able to meet our core security and management requirements. No hidden extra costs for extra features, which I hate. Simple to set up and get going, with the ability to enhance with custom scripts. Not quite using it to its full potential yet, but has been easy to just get going with the basics and can further enhance as we go. Support is great and will bend over backwards to help you set up as appropriate. Chat has been fantastic with knowledge that seems beyond usual 1st level support. Anytime I have had a question, just popped on to chat and 90% of the time got it resolved, and I do this quite regularly. The Kandji App store is quite useful for end users to deploy their software.
What do you dislike about the product?
Of course the product has its idiosyncracies, so we've had to work around the way the product implements certain things, but I found that with all products we looked at. Fortunately they were minor for Kandji.
Can't buy single licenses. If you have 50 devices, you can have 50 licenses. If you have 51, you require 100 licences. The licensing levels make it difficult to manage budgets, or contain costs. Kandji has offered discounts, which eased this concern.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Ease of software deployment and managing patching levels. Quick to deploy new devices as it can be configured out of the box with required config and software.

Great MDM system that fits our needs as a startup perfectly

What do you like best about the product?
As a compliance officer, Kandji is a tremendous asset in ensuring our endpoints are updated to meet our SOC 2 Type 2, PCI DSS 4.0, and internal standards. Kandji's adoption of the declarative device management framework has greatly improved the managed updates process for macOS. We find great value in using Kandji and inquiries with our account representative are always responded to promptly.
What do you dislike about the product?
Prior to the DDM framework, we had a few OS update incidents but have not seen this behavior since the adoption.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Managing updates is crucial to saving us time, allowing us to spend valuable not having to manage updates manually.

Great for small team Dev management

  • January 24, 2024
  • Review verified by G2

What do you like best about the product?
The overall process is really straightforward and easy to use. As a small research team with lots of devices, be able to manage all dev enviroments with a few clicks has been invaluable and save lots of time for us for actual works.
What do you dislike about the product?
More initial setup time and learning curve, also it discourage our cooleagues to learn the process themself.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Streamline the setup process of our dev computers and runtime enviroment.

Kandji is a great tool and their support team has never failed me

  • January 24, 2024
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Kandji has helped us improve our Apple device management. It was very easy to migrate over from a different MDM solution and get up and running.

The tech support folks have been great everytime i have needed their help.

Similarly the contract renewal process was very transparent with great communication throughout even though we are not a large account.
What do you dislike about the product?
The pricing has gone up from when we first started and its becoming less of a value proposition vs other solutions in the market.

Would like to see more feature development within the solution
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Kandji helps us have management visibility to our Apple fleet.
- Software deployments and updates
- Configuration updates
- Reporting

What do you like best about the product?
Ease of use and overall reliability, liftoff for zero touch deployments.
What do you dislike about the product?
Updates, could use more refinement. Not being able to run scripts at a device level rather than blueprint level
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Ensuring we have ability to lock or wipe systems remotely. Ensuring systems are up to date for PCI compliance and making end users experience positive.

What do you like best about the product?
I looked at many different MDM's on the market and Kandji was one the easiest to set up. It is very easy to use, easy to deploy to our fleet of Apple Ipad's keeping our drivers connected to what they need and by keeping the device safe.
Setting up and editing blue prints are very simple to use for different departments.
Tech support is very knowlegeable and quick to answer any questions.

Not a Kandji issue as I would love to have Ipad remote capabilities. Other then that Kandji hit everything that I was looking for.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Kandji is making it possible to manage a fleet of devices easily and securely.
