Haven't had much experience with Ansible, but I love the potential is has.

  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
As stated, I do not have a lot of experience with Ansible. However, what I have seen of it is definitely impressive and I like that it can be used as an infrastructure management and configuration management tool. This essentially allows it to be the definitive tool to use when automating IT processes.
What do you dislike about the product?
Comparing it with something like Terraform, Ansible is much more complicated to learn initially. I think if I trained on it some I would probably get over this feeling.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Deploying Nutanix resources automatically without the need to use the user interface, so I can avoid repeating tasks for setting up demo environments.

What do you like best about the product?
great platform to use for automation projects.
easy to understand and good rbac model.
What do you dislike about the product?
organization setup needs to be more visible and able to filter through
gui interface can be more user friendly
log searching function is lacking
not able to earch while job is running
downloaded log has not timestamps
need global credential (across multiple organizations or all)
need to be able to use same credential types for the same project
installation needs to be more flexible on library restriction - should be able to bypass library check or option to overwrite or skip version check
postgre sql supported versions need to expand to cover all versions
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
solving the issue with lots of resources doing the jobs manually today
automation going forward will be self-served where users can request deployment on-demand and automation will kick off the job to deploy or configure devices.

Highly scalable and helps with automation, but the product could do a better job at building infrastructure

  • May 12, 2023
  • Review from a verified AWS customer

What is our primary use case?

I use the product mostly to configure virtual machines.

How has it helped my organization?

The solution helps us to have a standard configuration for all the virtual machines. It helps our virtual machines have the same configuration every time they restart. It also helps with automation.

What is most valuable?

The most valuable feature of the solution is that we don’t need an agent for it to work.

What needs improvement?

The product could do a better job at building infrastructure.

The product should add a feature that alerts us if someone changes the configuration.

For how long have I used the solution?

I have been using the solution for two years.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

The product has high stability.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

The solution has high scalability. It can be deployed on thousands of machines. Seven people in our organization use the solution.

How was the initial setup?

The initial setup was straightforward.

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

We use the open-source version of the solution. The product can be used for free.

What other advice do I have?

The tool should be used for server configuration but not for creating resources on the cloud. Overall, I rate the solution a seven out of ten.

The user interface let us ease to go with anisible and all features of anisible could be use. All participants in a SDLC can use it for automations, from IT to Integration, from networking to developers.

Have worked on Ansible

  • September 27, 2016
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Ansible is an IT automation tool. We used it in our Openstack environment to deploy VMs and configure the system. It is written in python so makes it easier to work with. It is also easy to install on the workstation or laptop or even on another VM.
What do you dislike about the product?
Havent worked deeply on Ansible to figure out the downfall of the tool.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We use ansible in conjunction with Vagrant to deploy Openstack environment and also VMs in that environment using a software instead of manually deploying it. It is a very powerful tool which helps in automating the task and hence helps in reducing the human errors.
