What do you like best about the product?
Miro promotes creativity. When I open up a blank board, I don't feel lost, I feel like I have multiple functions that can help me get started with either a pre-made template, or just start creating ways to promote clarity and engagement. I use Miro for RFX Procurement Research, to bring alignment in research projects, for team retros, and to communicate workflows/processes. I often use it for a way to organize even my thoughts or ideas.
What do you dislike about the product?
The only challenge is when you have multiple objects close together, and you aren't able to select a particular one. A thought to fix this, is if you are able to scroll through selected objects through the arrow keys or something, instead of having to pull out objects.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We use MIRO to help solve problems that we experience through our development teams, such as coordination challenges. Some other examples include: We use MIRO to solve problems around team efficiencies with the Kanban. We have revamped our Program Level Kanban, and we wanted a simple way to capture prototypes which promote quick understanding with little effort to "build". Remote can be challenging, and its really hard to find ways to match the in person experience. Miro, in some examples has excelled past the in person experiences, and has honestly promoted a better way of engaging.

Great collaboration tool that is getting even better all the time!

  • October 30, 2020
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
It's great for collaborating with lots of people at once, especially when using the feature to see collaborators' cursors. I can tell where everyone is and what progress they are making.
I also like the highlighting of changes made while you are gone. Since collaboration doesn't always mean everyone working on the project at the exact same time, it is invaluable to be able to stay up to date on progress no matter when you are working on the board.
What do you dislike about the product?
The hardest part for me right now is understanding how to set up permissions for others to view and/or edit the boards I create. The free account is simple, but an enterprise account gets very complex and therefore sharing becomes more complex. Not impossible, just tricky.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I've been using Miro for years, I have used it to solve a number of problems.

It is my tool of choice whenever I need to visualize a project or problem to solve; for whenever I need to visually organize thoughts or present information.

When our group needed to do big room planning with individuals across multiple time zones, this tool was essential for allowing us to use digital versions of the same tools (e.g. sticky notes, strings, and posters) that we were used to , so that the group could focus on the task at hand and not on retraining ourselves with a new planning method or model.

I use the tool to brainstorm with others and to expand upon ideas often through the templates available in Miro. Those templates are great! They give me new ideas of how I can use the tool.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
It is an excellent collaboration tool to compliment other tools used by a remote workforce. If you have ever felt that Powerpoint just wasn't cutting it, use this product and you will soon see how easy it can be to collaborate. After using this product you will want to find more things to collaborate on.

Excellent tool, going from strength to strength

  • October 30, 2020

What do you like best about the product?
Miro goes from strength to strength - almost every day there is some enhancement to the functionality.
It is by far and away the most powerful, versatile collaborative tool I've used (and I've tried them all and use Miro since it was called Realtimeboard).
It performs brilliantly even as a simple whiteboard, right up to many sophisticated features.
One feature I love is the ability to upload and deconstruct multi-page documents - google slide decks, pdfs, etc - which makes reviewing a document (and staying oriented in a large document) and absolute breeze, massively reducing the cognitive load.
Welldone team Miro.
What do you dislike about the product?
The templating functionality for some more technical uses could be improved, such as for process modelling using industry standard business process modelling techniques like BPMN.
At the moment, its limitations in this area stop the organisation that I'm working at from adopting the tool fully - instead they're using niche rival Lucidchart for this purpose and Miro for everything else, within the UX community and so on.
(Team Miro I think you're missing a trick on this one.)
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Visualising complex information; facilitating discussions with / communication between disparate groups of people; having a free format canvas to organise my own analysis.

The best tool I could find to collaborate and replace whiteboard physical sessions

  • October 30, 2020
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
It's a tool that it's very easy to master and that works for all of the dynamics that my teams have. Things like creative problem-solving sessions, discovery sessions, brainstorming sessions, retrospectives and post-mortems. My teams have been using Miro to great effect and in some cases have changed their off-line processes to include Miro as a working tool.

For me, the things that really add value are the community templates, but I would expect nothing else form a tool that fosters communities to work collaboratively.
What do you dislike about the product?
The pandemic as seen a slew of updates with Miro trying to support and do more. We've found some bugs in the voting mechanism, so that needs some addressing.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Miro came into widespread use at my company due to the pandemic where we needed something to replace meetings around a whiteboard, and for that effect, it worked really well.

Additionally, having a tool like Miro also changed some development team processes, making Miro the de facto problem design tool. Where before we documented in confluence what we drew, now we create everything in Miro and consolidate in Confluence and Jira. Of particular interest is the Jira integration where we do problem breakdown and story mapping and integrate to Jira once we are ready.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Don't waste time looking for other tools. It will do what you need and the community support (templates) will make your life easier and even show you some things you didn't know about!

Miro helps me to coach my agile teams and to collaborate better with others.

What do you like best about the product?
I love the way I can set up an entire environment for my remote team. We are able to work together on new ideas and use it for our retrospectives. I am even setting up an entire virtual christmas party with miro for 40 collegues. I use the timer, voting feature a lot. But the best is the possibility to set up a workshop with one of the predefined temlates, this hepls me save time and improve workshop quality.
What do you dislike about the product?
Sometimes we forget to lock the background items and then someone accidently pulls the whole template apart. This can be distracting.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
With mostly remote teams we face challenges to collaborate efficiently and unleash creativity. Since we are using miro we are able to document workshops and to continue with all post its hanging where we stopped last time. No more "where did this post it hang"? ;) We also use it for prioritizing workshops, retrospectives and ideation in our design process.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Just start using it and explore the great possibilities.

Miro is the perfect tools for designers and not

What do you like best about the product?
Compared to MURAL:

Miro has a better usability
Miro is a real working tool
Miro is more precise and flexible
Miro has way more templates (all editable and smart) and features than Mural, we need a lot of these to design many different things, often in the same space (maps, flows, wireframes, icons etc.). Mural does not offer enough features.
Miro has better stability and reliability
Miro is faster and smarter in the way it allows us to work, is time efficient compared to Mural
Miro has its own app, easy to navigate through, more than one board can be open at the same time, but yet all together
Miro has a better boards management, it allows to invite externals choosing among different levels of permission (latest feature: is the possibility to protect the link to a board with a password) with accessibility and possibility to edit in the board as a guest > with Miro we can inviti people to join the session and allow them to edit!Even if you are a guest ;)
Miro has the integrated call feature for longer time (implemented by Mural just recently)
Miro is more precise and allows deliverables to have a better look: the deliverable is ready to be exported and sent/used/presented
Miro has many software integrations. Especially the one with Whereby can be useful for testing purposes. (it also has integrations with Teams and Azure)
Miro has different export possibilities for different purposes (files can be then opened in Adobe Illustrator also)
What do you dislike about the product?
The export features:
even to export a pdf the feature is called "Export an image" and it does not allow to export .png
I cannot trim elements/shapes
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
With Miro I can map complex things in an easy way, it is precise, it has a ton of features that fit all my needs
Recommendations to others considering the product:
If you need to put map your thoughts in an easy and beautiful way and share this to other, Miro is the tool for you!

Best tool for digital pinups and creative timelines

  • October 30, 2020
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Miro lets you see everything you want to at once and lets you edit it in real-time, super easily. For studio projects, group and individual, I have created displays upon displays of work with images, texts, videos, and links, with absolutely no problem. I am convinced there is no better product for this service.
What do you dislike about the product?
Exporting sections of Miro can get a little bit difficult if you have such large boards with so much content. This may not be possible, or may have since been implemented without me knowing, but it would be nice if Miro boards would keep a running list of the corresponding files on your laptop, or even update in real-time. like Adobe is able to do with special objects.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Miro has helped my creative process in model building and additional exploration as an architecture student. I can record any tangents I choose to investigate, from varying graphic representations of models to the work of artists covered in studio. Miro also makes casually sharing things digitally possible. I don't have to create a final set of pinup boards to share what I'm doing.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
I think Miro is a valuable product when working between physical and digital mediums. I think Miro is best used as a. tool for both visualization and documentation of things that may not otherwise be simultaneously viewable– keeping up with documents and digital versions/scans however is really important to perfect this sort of work flow.

Digital White Board with awesome bonus features

  • October 30, 2020
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Miro is easy to learn without training. It is intuitive and has a variety of features to fit a diverse set of needs. The export feature is very helpful. Miro enables my team to create visuals and share ideas in a virtual environment. In fact, in many ways it's better than working in person. Miro is frequently seeking user feedback and adding new features that take usage to the next level.
What do you dislike about the product?
The limitlessness of Miro is a benefit and a weakness, depending on the situation. Sometimes I need more structure, especially when working with a large group, and I don't want to spend a ton of time prepping for that structure. Voting needs to be improved. I'd like to be able to "add" a team member to certain assets.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Miro is enabling use to collaborate with visuals when we're not co-located. This helps bring a variety of ideas to the surface, or helps us articulate ideas more clearly. We can more easily make comparisons, decide priorities, and make decisions. Best of all, all that work is documents for easy reference later.

Game changer for our distributed UX and Design team

  • October 30, 2020
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
The app works extremely fast even when you add hundreds of images and notes to it. Even the most conservative members of our lager distributed team were able to learn how to use an app and collaborate within 10-15 mins from starting using it for the first time. Sharing access have become easier and more transparent recently, which is great. Since COVID-19 has hit, we were able to convince the larger business group we work with to take MIRO on board, and it was such a great, seamless transition. I see MIRO open on every desktop when I walk around the office. Everyone seem to have found their way to use it.
What do you dislike about the product?
Sometimes the boards with a lot of embed PDFs are taking some time to load, so potentially picking the boards for the offline or cached work would be a way to solve it. Mindmaps are not "there" yet, when it comes to comparing them to the strongest apps on the market. Working with text can be a bit difficult — you can download content of the notes as CSV, which is great, but some projects would benefit from Word or Markdown export. But these are all the suggestions on how to make MIRO even more great. It's one of my favourite apps.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Our team uses MIRO for team meetings, retros, roadmap planning and prioritisation sessions, Discovery and Inceptions workshops, brainstorming — and I even wrote a couple of documents in it (user research scripts, for example).
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Try and run a workshop you've been running before here to begin with. For example, a retro, brainstorming session, or a collaborative document review (not too long, though). I wouldn't start with mind maps or something where one person havily leads the play — let people discover it themselves.

And learn shortcuts off the bat. You'll work 100 times faster with shortcuts.

Started using MIRO to replace in-person whiteboarding, and we're still using it!

  • October 29, 2020
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Collaboration while working remotely works very well - we started using it when we were unable to work in person, but now we use it instead of using whiteboards even though we're back in person. I really like that MIRO can be used for so many different things. We use it for stand up boards, for presentations, for wireframing, for architecture discussions, just about any collaborative work that I need to do, I know that I can use Miro for it.
What do you dislike about the product?
It takes a long time to "process results" after voting. I can't set voting times or timers that are less than 1 minute long (sometimes I want to do 30 second or less quick fire voting rounds).
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Remote collaboration is the primary problem we are solving. It's also great even for collaboration in the same room, as everyone can bring a laptop and get involved with what's happening on the board, whereas a physical whiteboard has a physical limit based on size to how many people can use it at once.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Try Miro! It will change the way you and your team work remotely (and save you a heck of a lot of money on Post-it Notes!)
