Better than a real whiteboard

  • November 03, 2020
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
It makes collaboration easy with a lot of flexible options. We use it for new things all the time.
What do you dislike about the product?
It can use a lot of system resources in the browser and slows other things down.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Having a tool that lets everyone engage simply, naturally, and at scale makes sure everyone is on the same page. It's a great tool for communicating ideas big and small.

Using Miro as a product designer for 2 years

  • November 03, 2020
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
I definitely like to use Miro to share flows and concepts with different stakeholders. It takes less time than crafting a prototype in early stage of development so during the design development stage, I'd like to use Miro to share my design.
What do you dislike about the product?
I must establish the use of Miro for concepts and development because it's not suitable for a final hand off to developer. After finishing several projects, I experienced that other stakeholders got confused about the final spec. The single source of truth is important to avoid miscommunication.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I get to share and collect feedbacks from peers and other stakeholders easily. I can also illustrate flows by providing key screens with arrows.

The Best Design Team Collaboration Tool

  • November 03, 2020
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Very user-friendly interface with pre-made templates to plan and collaborate with teammates. The workflow is very fast and smooth and this is my first to go software for each design stage from research and documentation to brainstorming and analyzing. It's very easy to move around objects, zoom in, or zoom out and search through the documents. There are many different pre-made templates that are very useful for each phase of the project and save so much time. The templates are also very easy to understand for new users and I can easily share the boards with new users and make sure to can easily collaborate in the brainstorming sessions. It also gives so many tools and options to manage the sessions and the owner of the boards can set a timer or start/stop voting sessions.
What do you dislike about the product?
The features are too limited for the free version, and also it just lets the user access the latest 3 boards that were made. Also, if the number of the boards be over 3, the most recent three boards cannot be deleted and the user has no option to edit the boards until he/she subscribes in monthly plan.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
- Collaborating with my teammates and brainstorming on ideas during the pandemic is very useful.
- Documenting all my research and design work in one area and quickly navigate between all of them instead of having them on papers or in scattered files.
- Running brainstorming sessions and costing on ideas
- Receiving feedback and comments from other teammates for each step of the project
- Project planning and organizing tasks
- Sharing files, images, and videos
Recommendations to others considering the product:
I recommend Miro for designers and people who implement design thinking methodologies.

Great for all virtual teams in this era

  • November 02, 2020
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
- Ability to see live changes
- Color availability
- Smart alignment of shapes
- Fast copy with one button
- Timer and voting apps included inside
What do you dislike about the product?
- I continually accidentally move objects if they're not locked, and it's hard to come back and lock things after the board is in use.
- The ability to scroll left and right in a panel view would be nice instead of having to drag the screen. The bottom right navigation panel is usually too small to be able to get things into the view I want, especially if I just want to move to the left a smidge.
- Also, if things are locked I can't copy one object. I have to unlock everything to copy one item of an entire board of locked items.
- When I unlock items, the previous groupings are removed
- When voting, it puts ALL the stickies as options instead of if I only want 3 stickies to be voted on
- Moving horizontal lines is difficult. The line doesn't stay straight because the left side is a fixed point
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
It is a great visual for whiteboarding and alignment. We use it for our Agile PI plannings, and being able to see all team dependencies on one board has been a blessing. We also use it for retrospectives, which MIRO was a great tool to pivot to when we had to all be remote due to COVID.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Great for virtual collaboration

Realtime collaboration

  • November 02, 2020
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Realtime collaboration, anytime, anywhere.
What do you dislike about the product?
• It can be a bit intimidating for less tech-savvy.
• While constant change is good, it can be frustrating when features disappear or change.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Miro has transformed the way our software delivery team interacts with other IT teams and our business partners. With all of the teams working in different systems, Miro has given us one place to meet; where we can all collaborate in realtime to both visualize the business problems & solutions.

Great tool! My team uses it all the time for brainstorming exercises!

  • November 02, 2020
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Great collaborative tool. Very intuitive to use with sticky notes and different templates available.
What do you dislike about the product?
The organization of the miro board, it's not easy to move tab to tab especially when I have many tabs open. It would be great if it works like the chrome tabs where I can use the keyboard to switch tabs.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Miro is solving the challenge of visual collaboration, especially for distributed teams. It really helps us in translating complex ideas and workflows into something everyone could understand and contribute to during virtual meetings. I personally use it as a quick documentation and feedback collection tool as well. Easy to copy and paste product screenshot and add comments.

Best remote collaboration tool for teams

  • November 02, 2020
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Polished and intuitive user experience. I like that the tool offer plenty of handy little details that makes you more efficient. Recently while preparing to the workshop I've copied some rows from Excel table and pasted it to the Miro - I was surprised that after pasting it created a sticky notes for me that formed a nice grid. Most of my job for preparing the workshop done. It's the little details like these that you love.
What do you dislike about the product?
Organising boards for large organisations. We have multiple departaments (300 people, divided into 7 units, divided into countless teams) using Miro and it's very difficult to keep the structure and sharing permissions. It would be great if Miro offered same way of grouping as for example Microsoft Sharepoint so you could create folders, subfolders easily to have it organised by groups.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We are running all of the workshop sessions on Miro. It's just a great visual aid to do any sort of brainstorming, aligning. We use it to design solutions to have Scrum retrospectives, but also to organise the knowledge and create "landing pages".
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Miro is hands down the best collaboration tool available on the market. For my team it's not only the go to tool to run every meeting (especially during remote work), brainstorm, or design session. It's also a great place to visually collect notes and knowledge and keep everyone in the team aligned.

A member of our team!

  • November 02, 2020
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Miro is a member of our team, just like our human team members. We literally could not have done our work during the COVID-WFH season without Miro. It's allowed us to recreate most of the in-person ideation workshop experience, with some added, surprising benefits. We've onboarded dozens of people onto the platform, with very few hiccups. The learning curve is smooth and the functionality predictable (we often say, "if you think you can do it, you probably can!"). It's intuitive, visuals and really functional.
What do you dislike about the product?
Miro seems to be constantly working on improving the experience...many of the things that were initial "dislikes" have been remedied over the last few months. It is a bit of a bandwidth hog - we run MS Teams and Miro simultaneously and for those that don't have a speedy connection, the experience quickly deteriorates.
I'd also like to see some expanded opportunities to move/rename/reassign boards and teams. The functionality to do so remains a bit limited.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We use Miro for all of our product roadmapping, product/experience ideation and process improvement. It's allowed us to continue (and increase) our cadence of in-person workshops during this strange WFH season and also leveled the playing field for users/participants that may not speak up in an in person workshop. Combined with A/V on MS Teams, we have a robust communication platform.

Reflections on remote team work using Miro

  • November 02, 2020
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
I like seeing people working in real time the most. It helps to see and feel the presence of remote team members.
Template library is great, a lot of them I use on a daily basis, user journey or persona.
Converting issues to Jira items is accelerating my work a lot.
What do you dislike about the product?
Video calls are creating confusions and might be hard to connect to quickly.
Voting with > 5 gets messy and because of lots of clicks there is no possibility to vote.
New featues pop-ups on the main page appear to often and annoy me. I like built-in guides much more.
Each board has a different resolution, copying and pasting objects can get messy.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We are working on a software product, so Miro is a space for early collaboration, like drafts and meetings to kick-off the feature.
Benefit for me is possibility to mention a team member, as well as having the comments with possiblity to put them everywhere.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
It's a great improvement and software to help remote teams collaborate and get in touch with each other. Miro itself is very easy to understand, even for users with low technical savviness.

Recommended for all remote shared activities and for personal study activities

  • November 02, 2020
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
I really liked Miro, even before the covid era, as a digital support for a shared activity with my team. I like the various templates (mindmap, customer journey, brainstorming, ...) through I can illustrate any type of content. Furthermore, the post it and comment feature allows the team to write down every thought and work on it even after the activities.

With the covid era I could appreciate Miro also:
- as a tool for the remote workshop: for his easy to share and use with anyone.
- as a personal board in which I can write down ideas, insights / results of search, useful link, image. I can paste it everything!
What do you dislike about the product?
I dislike that in a comment you cannot mention a person who is not part of your (Miro) Team. I think it could be a useful feature because I often work with people from other teams.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Miro is helping me, during this covid era, to continue to work with my clients, also in a remote mode:
- for the shared activities , as the workshops.
- for illustrate and show my outputs, through the 'presentation mode'.
