Miro is a life saver during the virtual collaboration revolution

  • November 13, 2020
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
I like the very user friendly interface, the good performance even over low bandwidth links, and also the live collaboration of all team members that actually wouldn't be possible on a real life whiteboard or flip chart.
What do you dislike about the product?
I've been using Miro for three months now and i can't think's of a down side so far.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Miro is definitely helping to collaborate and brainstorm with the team virtually and the good thing is that what we come up with remains there, so we don't have to take photo shots of the whiteboard or take a flip chart with us from a meeting room
Recommendations to others considering the product:
I would recommend that users start with the simple features like brainstorming or collaboratively using sticky notes instead of trying with complex advanced templates that might frustrate them. I also strongly recommend registering for one of Miro's live webinars and checkout the different courses on Miro's academy.
Don't try to use all the stencils and tools from the left tool bar all at once from day one, but rather start with a simple canvas and then enhance it as you get more familiar with Miro and its features.
Try to share your Miro experience with your peers and colleagues within your organization and also it's very important to ask for their feedback and knowledge sharing to be able to fully utilize Miro in the right way and for the best purpose that will make everyone's life easier in the organization especially during the new norm and the virtual office life we are all living nowadays.
I would also try to integrate Miro with Microsoft Teams to receive live updates about your board within your Microsoft Teams team space or channel, as it's important to share with the team that you have done an update to the board instead of waiting for them to manually go and check it out

Game changer

  • November 12, 2020
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
The best part of Miro is that it has allowed my team to continue working collaboratively during COVID-19. Further to this, we have started to go back to the office here in Australia and it turns out I actually prefer using Miro to an actual whiteboard! Less paper, fewer pens, less bother!
What do you dislike about the product?
I cannot think of anything I dislike. Great job :)
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Collaborative design processes.

With Miro we have managed to continue and even increase the collaborative nature of our design process. Designers have all the tools they need to run design thinking sessions and it's been great.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
If you are considering using Miro, just do it. It's so easy to use, so much more engaging and you will save the planet while doing it.

Love it since the early adoption

  • November 12, 2020
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
I am the early adopter of this lovely product since the early days of realtimeboard.
I really appreciate the amazing working with colleagues

- live and smooth collaboration which assisted so many of our meetings
- rich templates and resources (the universe is excellent)
- easy edit and diagramming
- the organization about postit (batch and align etc.)
- it makes upload and display multiple format of the files easily
- power for the remote presentation
What do you dislike about the product?
- color limitation
- the mind map adjust is very limited (line weight, color fill) which causes me to use other alternative for mindmap
- as the board grows, sometime I really need custmized colors and also our brand colors!
- notes feature could be improved with sections, and dates
- why the blank artboard is always transparent??
- iPad drawing should really copy the gestures from Procreate.
- Soooooo frustrated with the unwanted selection
- zoom in and out the bad display of the artboard name (please do exact with Figma)
- font in the postit has limited size. (NOT enough for power users)
- lack of shortcuts (zooming to the object)
- Cmd +D won't duplicate object as in Illustrator or Figma
- the floating menu by selecting the object sometimes block other objects.
- please allow me to click user's portrait and zoom to his/her view
- wish to change the thumbnail image for the hyperlink
- hard to search in the canvas
- no ways to hide the comment icons on the canvas
- lack of up to date wireframe mocks
- would be nice to improve the richness of icon set

I can still write a lot since I am a huge fan :D
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Problem
- design challenge for job interview
- startup knowledge collection
- workshop and sprint
- product vision and alignment workshop etc.

Benefits
- the expansion and exploration of knowledge that strongly related to tech
- easy to create moodboard
- easy to lead workshop
Recommendations to others considering the product:
If you want to have a collaborative canvas to work together with others, Miro is top 1 choice at the moment without doubt.

A great whiteboarding tool for remote teams

  • November 11, 2020
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Simple and effective tool. Part of what makes it such a good tool is down to how collaborative of a tool it is to use. for example; i work in a completely remote team in a different country to everyone else. Using this tool it has allowed me the opportunity to use it for retro sessions and we can all put down our thoughts on a post-it and collaborate in real time with what we're thinking and run through details (like in real life).

Having that ability to spread work across a giant page with many different coloured post-its and also using the countdown timer is great as it keeps discussions concise which is exactly what we want.

ability to vote on post-its.
What do you dislike about the product?
A minor thing that Miro could do better is to have a much wider breadth of shapes that make it better for process mapping (though thats not its intended use) ; so that that it has more uses and can really become an all in one product
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Main benefit is the possibility of collaboration whilst everyone is working remotely. As mentioned above; as a team we wouldnt have been able to have work in this way during COVID times if we didnt have this product available.

Additional problems it solves when its being used correctly, are things like facilitating meetings effectively; giving people a chance to vote on ideas and share ideas in such a way that we wouldnt have before (particularly when we are being forced to do workshops remotely).

Personally i would be surprised if most remote teams werent using this or something similar
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Think about what your hoping to get out of a whiteboarding tool. Do you already have a good idea with what you want to achieve if you are using Miro? Ok good then time to get whiteboarding and collaborating in real time

great collaboration tool

  • November 10, 2020
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
- user interface
- it has various tools i.e icon finder, image search which makes the online experience to lively
- smart drawing and white board drawing using pencil is very helpful in hand drawing activities
What do you dislike about the product?
when there are too many templates or frames in the board, it takes time to load, take backup. Sometimes it even hangs and does not backup the data properly
It also does not have word suggestions when you mis spell the words, however it does underline if words if they incorrect
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
- online collaboration
- virtual experience to meet one to one and one to many
- online activities to bring virtual team together in same room
Recommendations to others considering the product:
i would highly recommend Miro for any online workshops whether its interactive or not. Miro covers almost all the aspects of virtual experience. It is so far the best alternative to face to face communication/interaction which brings all the elements on table to make your online collaboration richer.

Your creativity is your only limit

  • November 09, 2020
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
- How intuitive and user friendly it is. You can onboard new users or editors really quickly.
- Stickies!
- Voting
What do you dislike about the product?
- The voting sometimes takes a too long to process the results.
- Jira cards: Jira sub-tasks are not displayed in Miro. In the Sprint Planning, this could be very helpful.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We are a distributed team using the Scrum framework. We use it for almost everything: early in the product definition to draft the vision of the product with the stakeholders, then in the development to brainstorm in the Sprint plannings (integrated with Jira), to track the progress of the roadmap, for the Sprint Retrospectives.. and for any group discussion in which we want to record the output.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Just give it a try! Have a look at all the existing templates for inspiration. You'll realize you can use it for anything that you want! Really, your creativity is your only limit!

Miro- Works well along with Jira, Confluence and Slack. Great tool for many objectives.

What do you like best about the product?
Ease of working. Rich template libraries. Collaboration is very easy for team spared across multiple countries. Cards, Comments, Shapes widely useful. Connecting two shapes, re-organizing is very easy.
What do you dislike about the product?
I would like to see boarder feature for frames. Revert unacceptable changes by the fellow collaborator. What got deleted on board how to figure it out?
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We extensively used Miro. We have seen this tool is very useful for:

1. Communication - Offshore. Miro comes handy to communicate plans, order of execution and priorities easily with less time specially when we are doing offshoring where understanding each other accent is bit challenging.
2. Replanning is easy- Easy to replan in short period as we can see visually all the items infront of use in single glance.
3. We use Jira to track execution and schedule .We observed Miro better and extensively use for Plan/Re-plan/Prioritization/ Execution order/Scope management & Communication along with Jira and Confluence.

Great for collaboration

  • November 09, 2020
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
I love that I can paste in from a spreadsheet, which saves me a lot of time when importing notes from interviews. It's also really helpful to gather all the resources from a project in a single place, host workshops, take notes during interviews in a visual way and start doing analysis right away.

The integration with Google Drive is really good. I find it particularly helpful that I can extract the slides or scroll through a doc or deck without leaving Miro.

I'm glad there are new colors for the sticky notes.

The follow functions are great for facilitation. I'm also looking forward to the new features with the Zoom apps.
What do you dislike about the product?
It can be difficult to guide others into using Miro for the first time, or setting up the boards so that they are very clear and easy to interpret by others who are not familiar with a specific project.

I also wish that for the mind maps I could collapse branches, it would make things so much easier to keep clean.

The tablet version for iPad is nice, but it can be a little wonky to use. I'm looking forward to keep working with it and see how I can better fit it in my workflow.

It would be nice to have a better way to export. It would be nice if Miro integrated with UserTesting.com
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Collaboration, in particular with distributed teams and nowadays that everyone is working remotely.
Visibility/Transparency. I can put everything in one place and share with the team to see all of it.
Workshops. I can host a workshop over Zoom and have others follow me on the board.
UX Research analysis. We use it for affinity diagrams and presenting findings.

Great canvas for collaborative work

  • November 06, 2020
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
The openness of the creation process. The different tools available to connect and interact with generation of ideas and way to show digital work.
Interaction with document in real-time.
The templates are great to easily start a discussion.
The fact that you can create a presentation out of it is awesome, our PowerPoint or g-slides usage its going down and the quality of our presentations is going up.
What do you dislike about the product?
Needs a better locking mechanism to leave figures or background grids unmovable. Something like "flatness' in Bluebeam would be great.
Also a layer manager would be great.
The SSO timing to log off after certain time its too short.
Maximum file size to be uploaded should be increased.
In video chat we have had issues connecting from a webpage.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Inter-office projects with real time collaboration.
The discussions and interactions are greatly manifested in the boards. Its the closest to a actual meeting discussion.
Project presentations look next level.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
I think that some initial training its a required to onboard the team in the general usage. This will greatly enhance the chances of creating better boards.

    Design

I shout Miro from the rooftops - and have since it was still RealTimeBoard. There is so much to love

What do you like best about the product?
The INFINITE canvas. The possibilities are endless. The days of repeatedly enlarging an artboard as a Journey Map or flow grows are no more. As many stickies as we need, notes, images, hand drawn scribbles. It works like I think and I hope to never again be limited by frames or pages.
What do you dislike about the product?
I hate the way it can make my mac lag. This seems to be improving, but has traditionally been my biggest complaint. We use a lot of BIG boards and the performance starts to feel very heavy sometimes.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Started with Virtual workshops, but now we use it for almost everything. Workflow tracking, whiteboarding ideas with colleagues remotely, roadmapping, we even have a collection of Dad jokes told on calls.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Miro is my infinite canvas filled with infinite possibilities. It replaces so many other tools with its simplicity and versatility. The interface is clean and easy to understand, yet it has so many helpful features built in that make it do almost anything you ask of it.
